More pin-ball inside the Southampton area. The ball lands at the feet of Diego Costa eight yards out after a botched clearance. Surely this is the winner? The striker lines up his shot but Jose Fonte slides in to deflect the ball over.

  6. TEN MINUTES REMAININGpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Into the final 10 minutes. Chelsea are on the attack. Can they score the goal that will send them eight points clear at the top?

Jamie McKellar:, external For all the criticism of Chelsea and Southampton, this is a cracking game, brilliant advert for the Premier League.

Peter Okong'o:, external How on earth this game is still 1-1 is inexplicable. End-to-end stuff but players are getting a bit leggy now.

David Simpson:, external Against the normal refereeing standards, referee Mike Dean has had a super game.

  8. CLOSE!published at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Fraser Forster is coming into his own. This time the keeper saves from Oscar, who was slipped though by Eden Hazard. Super chance. An even better save.

"Chelsea are playing better, Eden Hazard is having a bit more influence. Southampton are being pushed back a shade. Where they were working the ball out through midfield they are now trying to hit it longer to Shane Long and it is not easy for him up against John Terry and Gary Cahill."

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

So close for Chelsea. It's a beauty of a cross from Willian and Oscar's header is beaten out by Fraser Forster before Eden Hazard is denied with the rebound. Brilliant goalkeeping by Forster.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

And here comes Jamie Ward-Prowse. Ronald Koeman is going for this. Steven Davis makes way for the midfielder. It's a double change as Dusan Tadic is replaced by Filip Djuricic.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

This has been ultra competitive and Gary Cahill becomes the fifth player to be cautioned after bringing down Sadio Mane. The Southampton man was too quick for his opponent.

Southampton have Jamie Ward-Prowse on the bench. This game is made for him. But will Ronald Koeman make any changes?

This is not going to stay 1-1. Both teams are going all out for the three points. It's a belting match.

Tim, London: Bizarre claims that Chelsea are somehow the only team that dive, feign injury, roll around. Everybody else does it but gets penalties.

David, IoW: Chelsea are cup winners currently going six points clear with a game in hand and yet are having a poor season?

Huge chance for Southampton. Dusan Tadic charges into the area and lays the ball off for Shane Long, whose goalbound shot cannons off Gary Cahill's body. End-to-end stuff.

Tom Holmes:, external People quick to put the boot in Chelsea but they've been unlucky from the ref and Saints haven't taken their chances.

Official Kev Ruscoe:, external Matic should be off. No questions, second yellow. If the Southampton players crowded you know it would had been a yellow.

Steve Conroy:, external Chelsea can afford to lose four games. As long as we win seven the other teams will need to win all theirs. Possible, but unlikely.

"Chelsea just stepped up a gear after a stumbling start to the second half. Now the game has really increased in tempo as Chelsea, for the first time, have shown some impetus to get back into this game."
