The half ends with Wayne Rooney cuttting inside and unleashing a ferocious shot that flies just wide of Tottenham's post. A huge roar as United's players head for the dressing room.
Newcastle have started to come back into the game at Goodison and the Everton defence are starting to look a bit shaky. Roberto Martinez needs to get his side into the dressing room and calm them down a bit.

"Terrific finish from Wayne Rooney and an even better celebration. If this were a boxing match they'd have stopped it by now."
Tottenham's players look shell-shocked. They can't wait for the half-time whistle. Still another two minutes to go.
Nayan Wages:, external Tottenham just got KO'd by Rooney.
Stuart Mitchell:, external Man Utd's best start to a game since SAF retired. This is awesome to watch.
Dominic O'Caollai:, external United having all the ball and all the play in midfield. Naive from Pochettino to play like this in Old Trafford.
Chris Baldwin:, external Kyle Walker living proof that just because you're fast, doesn't mean you're any good. Always been a liability defensively.

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Old Trafford
"Great goal celebration from Wayne Rooney - mocking the footage of him being knocked out in a kitchen scrap with Phil Bardsley. Manchester United have been outstanding but this display from Spurs has been nothing short of pathetic. It was a fine run and finish by Rooney for United's third but he was almost ushered towards goal by the Spurs defence. Old Trafford, for once this season, is in raptures.
They'll be talking about Wayne Rooney's goal for weeks. They'll be talking about his celebration for years.
What on earth has happened to Tottenham? Wayne Rooney has another chance to extend the lead even further but sends his shot wide of the post from Marouane Fellaini's cross.
Newcastle fans haven't had much to cheer since that early Mike Williamson chance, but Sammy Ameobi charges into the box and his shot is blocked by the lunging Antolin Alcaraz.
It's still 1-0 to Celtic and Dundee United's hopes of getting back into the match have been blunted by Sean Dillon's sending off. The captain was shown a straight red for a studs-up challenge on Emilio Izaguirre.

"Wayne Rooney's celebration, he just fell to the floor like he was knocked out. Great celebration.
"Pochettino took Andros Townsend off but he could have taken off any of those Spurs players as they have been woeful.
"I feel bit sorry for Spurs fans because they always give them hope 'can we get into that top four' but they never do it."
Knockout blow? Shocking by Nabil Bentaleb as he gifts Wayne Rooney possession close to the halfway line. Rooney charges at the Spurs defence. Past one defender and another before firing beyond Hugo Lloris. A brilliant goal by the England striker. His celebration is just as impressive as he punches the air like a boxer before falling over in response to newspaper reports he was knocked out while boxing with Phil Bardsley in his own home.

"Spurs have been woeful, they can't get to grips with the 4-1-4-1 formation. I think Nacer Chadli is going to go onto the right-hand side and Mousa Dembele go into a central area. They will probably change to a 4-2-3-1 to offer some protection to the woeful back four."
That five-match unbeaten record Tottenham have against Manchester United? The one everyone was talking about before kick-off? It's going out of the window unless the visitors can do something very special.

"Newcastle left-back Ryan Taylor has a problem now. He's up against one of the quickest players on the pitch in Aaron Lennon and he has an early yellow card."
Mauricio Pochettino has had enough. Andros Townsend, who is not injured, is hauled off as the Spurs boss tries to get a grip on this game. Mousa Dembele is thrown into the action.

"Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier have been all over the place. Kyle Walker has not woken up yet. People are saying Danny Rose might be the best English left-back but not on today's performance."
So close to 3-0 for United. Marouane Fellaini is having one of his best games in a red shirt. He's on another powerful run which ends in him fizzing the ball across the six-yard area which Danny Rose only just clears before Juan Mata can pounce.

"Again it's that man Fellaini causing havoc in the box. He wins the initial header and it comes to Michael Carrick who puts it into the the corner where there is no defender on the line. You have to question the Spurs defending again. Nacer Chadli should have gone back on the post but he didn't and Hugo Lloris had no chance."
Andrew, Richhill: Great start from Manchester United. Just like the good old days under Fergie: starting fast and scoring goals inside the first 20 minutes of games at Old Trafford. Great to finally see United playing with a bit of purpose and intent.
Ryan Pope, Bridgend: Missed the second goal as well now. Trying to stream from labour ward and partner keeps having contractions. After that goal, baby Carrick?
