Spurs struggle to deal with a long throw and George Boyd is able to flick a header on, he can't generate any real power though and the effort slides across goal...

"Some of Tottenham's long-range shooting has been terrible. Paulinho's is one of the worst I've seen all season. Burnley have tired a little and have dropped back, playing in just small spurts. They have not really created many chances."

Christian Eriksen has scored plenty of late winners this season. Is there time for another?

Steve Gilbey: Are Tottenham the biggest underachievers in Premier league history? Got to be between them and Liverpool. Both spent so much.

Jon, Manchester: Someone please explain to me why Spurs believe they "belong" in the top 4? Not a big club in the modern era ever.

Ben Mee is shown a yellow card for going through the back of Erik Lamela. Eric Dier then heads one on - but the offside flag is up.

    Into the final stretch.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 5 April 2015

Burnley bring on striker Lukas Jutkiewicz for Sam Vokes, like-for-like up front. The former Middlesbrough and Coventry man has 15 minutes to be the hero.

What was that?! Goodness me! Paulinho breaks away for Spurs, the shot is on but he kicks more of the Turf Moor turf than the ball, scuffing an awful shot which barely reaches the dead-ball line.

Mass hands on heads in the away end. A few Spurs fans are even laughing. It's that or cry...

BBC Match of the Day commentator

Sunderland's continuing struggles are evident enough, but underlined by them going into the derby with a new boss for the third time in three seasons - with Dick Advocaat echoing predecessors Paolo Di Canio and Gus Poyet by facing Newcastle in just his second game in charge.

He surely must follow their lead further by winning it, not least to fuel belief that Sunderland's Premier League status can be saved.

Whilst Advocaat is new to this occasion (although he knows plenty about Rangers v Celtic), the man on the other side of the tunnel is anything but, even though it will also be John Carver's first as the man in charge.

As talk of Steve McClaren and others being St James' Park bound grows, he'll be realistic enough to know that it's almost certainly his last too, and the born and bred black and white will be desperate to end Sunderland's recent derby domination.

Spurs have been equally as lame as the hosts so far but in Christian Eriksen they possess a classy player, he finds space where there appeared to be none and fires over on the run.

A quick recap on the state of play here.

A WIN and Burnley are out of the bottom three. Surely, in the name of all that is right, Burnley have to lay siege to the Spurs goal as we approach the last 20 minutes? Surely?

Get at them. Make something happen. Don't just let this game die out into a 0-0 draw Sean Dyche. Don't do it...

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 5 April 2015

Here we go, now's your chance to shine Erik Lamela. A magic 30 minutes at Turf Moor and all may be forgiven. The Argentine is on for Nacer Chadli as Spurs look for any form of lift.
