Hull's run-in is frightening, and Sunderland's isn't much easier on the eye. A home game with Leicester is filed under the 'six-pointer' banner and two away games at Chelsea and Arsenal to finish would put the frighteners on most teams.

    Spanish La Liga

It's all tightened up again at the top of La Liga in Spain, with Barcelona's lead trimmed to one point.

  11. 'I'm still worried'

    West Brom 2-3 Leicester

West Brom manager Tony Pulis: "I worried about relegation from the first moment I walked in here and I will continue to until we are safe. That is the kind of guy I am.

"We were in control I thought in the first half and we had that chance in the second half when Saido Berahino could have played in Craig Gardner. If we had scored from that I think it would have shut the garden gate.

"As it was we conceded two disappointing late goals."

Bayern Munich maintained their commanding lead at the top of the Bundesliga with victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

With six games remaining the defending champions moved 13 points clear of second-placed Wolfsburg.

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski scored twice including a stunning first-half volley.

Germany's Thomas Muller then added the third eight minutes from time.

  15. 'We kept on going'

    West Ham 1-1 Stoke

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes: "For us it was one of those days, we conceded to a great free kick but we kept going and showed great character.

"We could not quite find the final ball, but credit to the lads because they stuck at it and deserved to get something. They were the better team, so we got some reward but probably not what they should have had."

Burnley 0-1 Arsenal - Aaron Ramsey (12 mins)

  18. 'Bewildering'

    West Ham 1-1 Stoke

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce: "It's bewildering at the moment, since Manchester United we have thrown seven points away in the final seconds of the game. You tally those up, that's 50 points, looking good and its a really good season, but throwing this one away is bitterly disappointing.

"The lads showed a lot of nerves, and it was a very good goal from Stoke but it is difficult to take. We have to be more capable of seeing the game out."

    Sam Allardyce
  19. Player reaction on Twitter

    Sunderland 1-4 Crystal Palace

    Wilfried Zaha tweet

He certainly was ruthless. I've seen Yannick Bolasie mentioned in a few 'teams of the year' tweets from players in the past week. Get on the PFA awards Yannick...

  20. 'Not good enough'

    Sunderland 1-4 Crystal Palace

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat said: "We have to recover in 14 days with an away game against Stoke and we have to do better than we did today as this was not good enough.

"After the Newcastle game we did not see this performance coming. We had trained really well this week and the confidence had come back, but in the first half it was not really good. We gave the match away in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

    Dick Advocaat

"We could not cope with their pace, but I don't want to complain about the players. We win as a team and lose as a team.

"We still have six matches left and it's in our hands. You cannot lose 4-1 to Crystal Palace in a home game because we need to get results."

  21. Post update

    Sunderland 1-4 Crystal Palace

Has a Brazil team ever been compared to Crystal Palace though? That's the question.

  22. 'Just like watching Brazil'

    Sunderland 1-4 Crystal Palace

    Glenn Murray

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew said: "Our fans were singing 'it's like watching Brazil', and it was today. We were terrific and we caused Sunderland a lot of problems.

"It was an emphatic win and the scoreline didn't even do us justice. We had so many chances. We were great and that's seven away wins out of eight games - at a professional level that's unbelievable.

"We never looked in any danger. This performance won't get many headlines as we're mid-table but it was an outstanding performance."

  26. 'It's a crazy game'

    Southampton 2-0 Hull

    Steve Bruce

    Hull manager Steve Bruce:

"It's a crazy game at times. We certainly didn't deserve, in my opinion, to get beat 2-0.

"We did enough to warrant getting something out of it. But we gave away a bad goal. It was a penalty. And we are where we are because of our inability to score goals.

"The one thing that did disappoint me was a yellow card for Graziano Pelle. I think it warranted a bit more than that.

"If the referee does see the forearm smash across Alex Bruce's face it's certainly a red card. But he's not given it for that."

  28. Post update

    Burnley v Arsenal (17:30 BST)

In our Arsenal line-up the eagle-eyed among you spotted that we only had 10 players! I can tell you it was Laurent Koscielny who I missed out.

  29. 'The win looked unlikely'

    West Brom 2-3 Leicester

    Nigel Pearson

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson: "The way we started it looked an unlikely outcome. To be fair to the players, in the second half, we showed a lot more quality. We deserved three points, because we never stopped believing we could get something from the game.

"We still have a lot of work to do, but back-to-back wins are very important now and we have to make it three now. We had to try and force the issue late on and Jamie Vardy took the chance late on after we put on that pressure."

  30. Manager reaction

    Southampton 2-0 Hull

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman on Graziano Pelle:

"He played well and worked very hard but he has to score goals. That's the best feeling a striker can get.

"He lives to score goals and if it's been a long time it does something for your confidence.

"Now he will be back to the player he was at the beginning of the season."

  31. Yeovil down

    Football League - today's movers

Championship: Norwich's late winner at Bolton leaves the top five places unchanged, but Derby drift a couple of points after their early draw with Brentford. Ipswich move into the last play-off sport after holding off a spirited effort from relegated Blackpool.

    Yeovil

League One: Relegation bunfight news: Yeovil are down after failing to beat Notts County; Coventry and Scunthorpe edge away from trouble, each reaching the 50-point mark with wins against basement rivals.

League Two: No change at top or bottom, but in the play-off race Plymouth and Stevenage - with a last-gasp winner - are the main beneficiaries of defeats for Newport and Exeter.

  32. Post update

    West Brom 2-3 Leicester

    Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks

    Final Score

"Today could be the turning point for Leicester. I have to change my position because today there was everything I didn't see at Sunderland - a team that wanted to survive."

  33. Post update

Tim Sherwood provokes more knee-jerk reactions than most managers - but what are your thoughts tonight Spurs fans? Would you rather have him in the dugout or down the M6 at Villa Park?

  34. 'A fantastic result'

    Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood: "It's a fantastic result - we carried on from the good performance in the 3-3 draw against QPR. We thought we could have a good go and we did. I thought we deserved to win. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy made the decision [to sack me] based on what he thought was the right thing to do. Mauricio Pochettino is doing a good job. Without Spurs giving me the job last year, I wouldn't have been here today to enjoy this win.

    Tim Sherwood

"We've got some tough games. No-one gave us a chance here or at Manchester City in the next league game. We're within touching distance. On the downside we picked up a few injuries.

"The club weren't creating chances for Christian Benteke before I arrived. It's about conserving his energy, keeping him high up the field and using him to penetrate teams. The shackles are off him now.

"It's a fantastic result for me and Aston Villa."

  38. Team News

    Burnley v Arsenal (17:30 BST)

    Arsenal

Burnley name the same team that drew 0-0 with Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham last weekend, with Clarets striker Danny Ings looking to end a 614-minute goal drought that stretches back to the 12th-minute of their defeat by Manchester United on 11 February, and is already the longest he has gone without a goal this season.

The in-form Gunners, who demolished Liverpool 4-1 in their last outing, are also unchanged as they try to become the first top-flight team this season to win eight league games in a row. Defender Laurent Koscielny has shaken off hip and thigh problems to start and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is back on the bench after recovering from a rib injury.

Burnley starting XI: Heaton; Trippier, Duff, Shackell (c), Mee; Boyd, Arfield, Jones, Barnes; Vokes, Ings

Arsenal starting XI: Ospina, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis, Giroud

  42. Tight at the bottom

    Table

Who thought the fight to survive was drifting a bit? I did, I have to be honest.

What a difference a few late goals makes. Leicester have been revived! A massive win at West Brom. It's now three from five again.

  43. 'Back to my best'

    Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

    Christian Benteke

Aston Villa match-winner Christian Benteke: "I'm happy today because we won and I scored. I had a tough time with my injury but I'm getting back to my old level. I try to help my team, and do my best every time. I think we have to try to win every game. It's not very easy to take a point."

  44. Post update

    Burnley v Arsenal (17:30 BST)

    Guy Mowbray

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"With only one win and six points gathered from their last 10 games, Burnley are in the bottom three for a reason - yet when you have the 'Who's going down?' conversation at the moment, more than a few have a feeling that the Clarets won't be.

"The reasoning is understandable. That sole win was an impressive one against Manchester City; this coming fixture is Burnley's last remaining match against any of the Premier League's current top eight teams; and their spirit and style has won many a 'neutral vote'.

"Burnley manager Sean Dyche makes no secret of his own admiration for Arsene Wenger, describing him as "a legend of the game" whilst questioning those who question the Arsenal manager's position.

"The phone-in warriors are quieter now, with the Gunners having won seven games in a row - their best run of form since the 'Invincibles' season of 11 years ago. They haven't finished in the top two since the season after that, but I think they just might this time."

Championship: Finally, finally Norwich break through and the Championship places shuffle again. Gary Hooper steals the points against Bolton, lifting a finish over Adam Bogdan. The Hungarian keeper was heroic today, but gets nothing for his efforts. The Canaries go back into second and after all that huffing and puffing it's as you were in the top five.

  48. Post update

    West Ham 1-1 Stoke

All credit to Stoke and to Marko Arnautovic in particular. He could be celebrating a hat-trick but his late, late goal earned the Potters a merited point.

    Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

BBC MOTD commentator Jonathan Pearce at White Hart Lane

    Sherwood

"Tim Sherwood returns to White Hart Lane where Tottenham dumped him as manager and he wins. It's a huge win for Aston Villa. Christian Benteke's rich vein of form continues - his goals could steer Villa to safety and maybe an FA Cup final. Sherwood has turned Villa's season around but Tottenham's season is in danger of petering out."

  51. Post update

    Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

It is getting ugly at White Hart Lane. Kieran Richardson is booked for a foul that has both sets of players squaring up. Tottenham have one last chance to salvage a point at White Hart Lane from the free-kick, which they waste by floating into the hands of Brad Guzan. Tim Sherwood is going to be a very happy man in a few seconds.

    Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks

    Final Score

"The Leicester goal puts the cat among the pigeons. It's all to play for at the bottom. It's extraordinary. Also, Villa are putting in one of the best performances I've seen this season - it will be the result of the day, because it means so much."

    Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown

    Final Score

  62. Post update

    Football League latest

Championship: Promotion chasers Middlesbrough and Watford are staying on Bournemouth's tail. Both are 2-0 up against Rotherham and Millwall, respectively. Norwich are still trying to bang down the door at Bolton but it's still 1-1. The Canaries have dominated but are losing out in the race for automatic promotion today. Ipswich have fought off Blackpool's spirited effort to take a late lead, 3-2, through Christophe Berra - they'll be back in the play-off places tonight.

  63. GOAL

West Brom 2-3 Leicester - Jamie Vardy (90 mins)

    Vardy

Would you believe it! What a turnaround at The Hawthorns! Jamie Vardy has plenty to do here, but from the moment he nicked the ball off Gareth Macauley he only had one thing in his mind. He charges to the edge of the Baggies box before firing a low shot across Boaz Myhill and in. It is the second late goal for City in successive game, it could well be another late winner. It could also be another massive step towards safety.

  64. GOAL

Sunderland 1-4 Crystal Palace - Connor Wickham (90 mins)

The merest of consolations, it's a shame for Connor Wickham that there are hardly any Sunderland fans left in the round to see him miskick a shot into the ground and into the net. They all count, and his goal bonus will tell you that.

  65. Post update

    Final Score

"Leicester have now just realised they are better than West Brom. Nigel Pearson's side are smothering their hosts, they're all over them. There is a point for them already it looks like but they'll need all three."

  69. CLOSE!

    Southampton 2-0 Hull

Saints could really apply the gift-wrapping to their win but Steven Davis wastes a great chance by lashing over on his left foot.

  70. CLOSE!

    West Ham 1-0 Stoke

West Ham sub Carlton Cole powers a header wide from close range. Not long left now.

  71. Post update

    West Brom 2-2 Leicester

Leicester sense they could get a winner at The Hawthorns. David Nugent cuts in from the right and his low cross takes a deflection that sends it goalwards, forcing Boaz Myhill to dive and save before Joleon Lescott hooks clear.

  72. Post update

    Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

Fabian Delph should have wrapped this up for Villa. He finds himself with time and space and just Michel Vorm to beat, but doesn't do enough with his shot and the Spurs keeper saves. That is only Villa's second shot on target, after their goal.

  73. Post update

Championship: Leeds United really, REALLY don't like playing Cardiff City. Aron Gunnarsson's 62-minute goal has restored the visitors' lead. With the minutes ticking down, it looks like the Bluebirds' 31-year hex over Leeds is set to continue.

League One: Bad news for Yeovil - Notts County have equalised. Town need a winner in the last 10 or they're down.

  74. Post update

    West Brom 2-2 Leicester

    Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown

    Final Score

"If Leicester had lost today then psychologically it might have been the end for them. They've never been totally cut loose from the rest of the group and are still in the mix if they can get a point today. Especially after Sunderland's showing. It's been the worst performance I have seen all season, from Dick Advocaat's side. They have been completely outclassed."

  77. HITS THE WOODWORK

    West Ham 1-0 Stoke

Sometimes it's just not your day. That could well be the case for Stoke as Mame Diouf smashes the inside of the post with a wonderful header. He didn't leave the ground, didn't need to, and twisted his body to propel the ball against the woodwork. it was a great attempt. But West Ham clear and hang on...

West Brom 2-2 Leicester - Robert Huth (80 mins)

    Huth

Vital! This could be vital yet for Leicester as Robert Huth heads in an equaliser. A set-piece is not dealt with, Dave Nugent helps it back to the far post, it's headed back into the goalmouth and Huth climbs high to head home. He's mobbed. A pile-on.

  101. SUBSTITUTION

    Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino clearly feels he needs to liven up his front line. On comes Roberto Soldado, who many may feel is not quite the spark a losing side needs. Off goes Nacer Chadli. Villa also make a change with Andreas Weimann on for Jack Grealish.

  102. GOAL

Sunderland 0-4 Crystal Palace - Yannick Bolasie HAT-TRICK (62 mins)

    Bolasie

Dear oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear!

I'd call it schoolboy defending from Sunderland but that would be offensive to schoolboys. Sunderland leave two men back to deal with Glenn Murray, and he makes mincemeat out of them. John O'Shea bounces off him, Murray walks into the box and finds Yannick Bolasie, who is able to go past the keeper and stab in with two defenders on the line. Embarrassing.

Sunderland 0-2 Crystal Palace - Yannick Bolasie (51 mins)

    Bolasie

The old Glenn Murray-Yannick Bolasie combo does the damage again for Crystal Palace! Murray with an absolutely textbook centre-forward's flick on, beats his man in the air and puts it perfectly into the path of Bolasie, cutting in from the left wing. 121. Post update

    West Brom 2-1 Leicester

It appears as though Leicester may have switched to a back three. They start in a positive fashion with a free-kick (the concession of which earns Craig Gardner a yellow card) that Wes Morgan heads at goal but too close to Boaz Myhill, who gathers.

  122. GOAL

Sunderland 0-1 Crystal Palace - Glenn Murray (48 mins)

    Murray

The now trademark 'Glenn Murray look to the linesman'! The prolific striker heads home his sixth goal in six games to give Crystal Palace the lead. He is onside though, and perfectly placed beyond the far post to meet Yannick Bolasie's deflected cross/shot with a powerful header. He is on fire. Alan Pardew is on fire.

  123. KICK-OFF

The second halves are starting to get back under way in the Premier League.

  124. Post update

    Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

Tim Sherwood has had an inconsistent start to his Aston Villa reign, but one man who has benefitted from his influence is Christian Benteke. The striker is the top scorer in the Premier League since Sherwood took over at Villa. If Villa stay up, Benteke deserves huge doff of the cap from everyone involved with the club.

    Football League half-time summary

Championship: Promotion and play-off issues are going to type with little to choose between the main protagonists at the break. Amid a rash of drawing scorelines, only Watford and Ipswich are making gains as it stands. All in all, a good half for Bournemouth after their win last night.

League One: With respect to table-toppers Bristol City and Preston (currently 0-0), the basement is where the action is in the third-tier today. Coventry and Scunthorpe will be happiest, boosting their hopes with half-time leads against Colchester and Crawley, respectively. Yeovil, meanwhile, are hanging on by their fingernails. If results go against them today, they could go down, but they're 1-0 up against fellow strugglers Notts County.

League Two: Who wants to get in the play-offs, then? Trouble for hopefuls Newport, Exeter and Stevenage, all trailing 1-0 at the break. And no vital signs yet for league-status-threatened Tranmere and Cheltenham, either - similarly a goal down and rooted in the relegation spots.

Jason Puncheon looks the dangerman for Crystal Palace and has a shot saved before Jack Rodwell is fortunate to escape a red card. His touch gets away from him in midfield and he dives in to the tackle, feet off the ground and he clatters James McArthur. The referee has a long look at it and decides it's a yellow card.

Challenges flying in! Sunderland keeper Costel Pantilimon is clattered by Scott Dann after he juggled the ball from the corner and the giant Romanian needs some treatment.

  179. Post update

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

Villa look to hit Spurs on the counter but a long ball forward is too far ahead of Gabriel Agbonlahor and Michel Vorm is quickly off his line to clear. Villa defender Ciaran Clark looks to be holding his knee. It would be a blow to struggling Villa to lose him.

  182. Post update

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

It has been a low-key start in terms of goalmouth action at White Hart Lane. Only Jack Grealish's blocked effort for Villa has even looked like potentially posing a problem for either keeper.

    Sunderland 0-0 Crystal Palace

Jason Puncheon scored a free-kick for Palace against Manchester City earlier this week but this time he leaves it for Mile Jedinak - but his shot is poor and right into the wall.

  184. Post update

    West Brom 1-0 Leicester

That Baggies goal was well timed. Soon after, in the ninth minute, the West Brom fans begin a minute of applause for Jeff Astle. The Brummie Road end also hold up cards displaying the message ASTLE KING.

    West Ham 1-0 Stoke

Mark Noble had looked favourite to take that West Ham free-kick - it was on the right-footer's side - but Aaron Cresswell stepped up to curl in a cracking goal. The Hammers are on top too as Enner Valencia goes close to meeting a cross from the right.

  186. Football League latest

First Championship goal of the afternoon from an unlikely source: Blackpool at Ipswich. The Tangerines are already relegated and without an away win all season but they've taken the lead at Portman Road through Andrea Orlandi.

    West Ham 1-0 Stoke

    Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown

    Final Score

"Asmir Begovic is one side of the wall and he has to stay his side and then hope the wall does its job. But Aaron Cresswell has bent it over and it's a great free-kick."

  188. GOAL

West Brom 1-0 Leicester - Darren Fletcher (8 mins)

    Fletcher

The Baggies don't have to wait long for that goal. A corner is swung in and met by a glancing header from Darren Fletcher to steer the ball over the line. Esteban Cambiasso hooks it out but as the goal-line technology shows, he was too late.

  189. Chance

    West Brom 0-0 Leicester

Oh, that was a great chance for West Brom. Jeffrey Schlupp shoves Craig Gardner, after the West Brom midfielder had got away from him down the right byline. Gardner swings in the resulting free-kick and it is met by the unmarked Joleon Lescott, who should score but steers his header past the far post.

  190. GOAL

West Ham 1-0 Stoke - Aaron Cresswell (7 mins)

    Cresswell
    Cresswell

Oh, that is first class! West Ham take the lead with their first attack as left-back Aaron Cresswell steps up to curl a belter of a free-kick into the top corner from all of 25 yards. That was a fantastic hit!

  191. Post update

    Sunderland 0-0 Crystal Palace

Chance for Sunderland, and he should do better too. Steven Fletcher is first to Jordi Gomez's curling corner but the Scot can't control his header and glances it over. Presentable opportunity that. He can score against Gibraltar...

  192. Post update

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

    Former Tottenham striker Clive Allen

BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart Lane

"A fast and intense start by Aston Villa. Tim Sherwood has sent his side out to press high up the field, and Michel Vorm has already flapped at a cross.

"Tim will be sitting there churning up inside. He will be desperate for Villa to take something away from White Hart Lane."

  193. Post update

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

Tim Sherwood has an icy glare on his face as he settles in to his seat at White Hart Lane. There are pressing professional reasons he could with a win today, but he also has a little personal interest as well, against the club that spurned him.

  194. Post update

    Southampton 0-0 Hull

Hull go straight down the other end and threaten as Sone Aluko drags a shot wide from 20 yards. The Tigers have won just one of their last 14 away games but three points today could provide a massive boost.

  195. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Leicester

There is something perfect in the simplicity of the West Brom kit today. Plain white shirt and shorts and red socks. Nothing emblazoned on it but a badge. Old kits were better. Darren Fletcher tries to power his way through into the Leicester box and tumbles under a challenge but there is no free-kick.

  196. Post update

    Southampton 0-0 Hull

You're going the wrong way! Shane Long latches on to a lose backpass in the Hull defence, takes a heavy touch but he's clean through on goal, but he goes the long way, the wrong way round Hull keeper Steve Harper and the ball goes out. What a chance for the Saints.

  211. League Two preview

There are a few promotion clashes in League Two today.

Leaders Burton go to play-off chasers Luton, while seventh-placed Newport are at home to Bury, who are fourth. Second-placed Shrewsbury are at home to Exeter, who are only one point off the play-offs. Stevenage - in sixth - play Northampton, who are five points off the top seven.

There are tough games for the two clubs in the Football League relegation zone. Bottom-place Cheltenham go to Wycombe, who are third, and Tranmere go to fifth-placed Southend.

Hartlepool, who are one point above Tranmere, go to York - who are only six clear of the relegation zone themselves.

  212. League One preview

Leaders Bristol City will be promoted to the Championship if they beat second-placed Preston, MK Dons lose and Swindon fail to win.

Yeovil will be relegated if they fail to beat Notts County, who are also in the bottom four.

The frankly ridiculously close relegation battle in League One means every game has something riding on it.

Fifteenth-placed Walsall - who host play-off chasers Fleetwood - are only two points above the relegation zone.

Coventry, in 17th, host 23rd-place Colchester, who would overtake their hosts with a two-goal win. Other all-relegation battles are Crewe v Leyton Orient and Scunthorpe v Crawley.

  213. Championship preview

    Mick McCarthy

Five of the eight promotion-chasing Championship teams are in action in the 15:00 BST kick-offs today.

Play-off chasers Wolves face the very short trip to St Andrew's to play Birmingham. Norwich go to Bolton and Ipswich host already relegated Blackpool.

Middlesbrough host Rotherham, who are not 100% safe yet - sitting seven points above the drop zone. And Watford go to almost-relegated Millwall, who are one of the teams the Millers are seven points above.

Games with nothing riding on them are Leeds v Cardiff (a game which away fans are boycotting in a tickets argument), Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield, Reading v Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday v Charlton.

  216. FULL-TIME

    Swansea 1-1 Everton

Roberto Martinez and Garry Monk embrace as they share the points. Seamus Coleman's handball the key talking point at the end as Swansea level their record points tally in the Premier League of 47.

  217. Astle Day at the Hawthorns

West Brom v Leicester (15:00 BST)

There are some nice photos coming in from the Hawthorns where West Brom are marking Jeff Astle Day - the annual fixture, nominated by his family, where they pay tribute to their former striker.

Astle died in 2002 from a brain condition that his relatives believe was partly caused by repeated heading of the ball.

His daughter Dawn has printed the number nine on the replica 1968 FA Cup final shirts that the modern-day Baggies will wear today. Astle scored the winner against Everton in the original game.

It is only the second time that the Premier League has granted permission for a team to play in a commemorative replica shirt after Manchester United and Manchester City marked the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster in 2008 in a similar way.

  222. Astle Day at the Hawthorns

West Brom v Leicester (15:00 BST)

It is a big day at the Hawthorns as West Brom honour one of their greatest ever players, Jeff Astle. The former Baggies forward died in 2002, aged 59, of a degenerative brain illness, which it was later confirmed was caused by repeated head trauma from heading the heavy leather footballs used during the era in which he played. His widow, Laraine, and three daughters have since been campaigning for justice and today will see the official launch of the Jeff Astle Foundation, which they hope will raise awareness of the issue and push for the introduction of new laws on head injuries in amateur football.

Albion have dubbed today 'Astle Day' and the team will wear wear a replica kit from Astle's greatest day in a Baggies shirt - the 1968 FA Cup final, when he scored the only goal of the game two and a half minutes into extra time.

Saido Berahino wears the number nine shirt as the club commemorate the life of former striker Jeff Astle.

Leicester make just one change from the side that beat West Ham to secure their first league win in nine games last time out. Marc Albrighton comes in for Riyad Mahrez in midfield. Manager Nigel Pearson made the same change, but at half-time against the Hammers.

    Spanish La Liga

We don't just have live text commentaries of the Premier League and the early kick-off in the Championship for your enjoyment today. From 14:30 BST you will be able to follow Real Madrid's La Liga match against Eibar.

    AS

The front page of Spanish sports newspaper AS focuses on what will be a much-changed Real Madrid side today when they face Eibar. Carlo Ancelotti's side, in second four points behind leaders Barcelona, are without goalkeeper Iker Casillas, midfielders Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez and forward Gareth Bale. But they do have one man. They have Cristiano.

Ronaldo was expected to miss this one after picking up his fifth booking of the season in midweek after he was judged to have dived during the match against Rayo Vallecano.

However, that booking has since been overturned and he is available to play. Which I'm sure will no doubt delight those Eibar fans. Maybe not.

"Martinez was about to bring Steven Naismith on for Arouna Kone, who may have been fortunate not to have been given a second yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Jack Cork.

"But as soon as Shelvey scored from the spot, Naismith was sent back to the bench. Are Everton happy with a point? Or planning a late onslaught?"

"One thing I would have liked to see is how Stones would have coped with Bafetimbi Gomis today. He hasn't had to of course, with Gomis having to go off earlier. Is Marvin Emnes good enough to play at this level, week in week out?"

  256. Post update

Sunderland v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Alistair Mann

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"On his first return to the north-east since he became Crystal Palace manager, Alan Pardew would be forgiven for seeming that little bit taller and more self-assured than when he left.

"The unanimous approval he's received since his arrival at Selhurst Park has been in marked contrast to that which he felt on Tyneside but, in reality, as a manager with enormous experience it's unlikely to have had any effect on his own self-belief.

"One fact though that may encourage Sunderland fans is that in his eight Tyne-Wear derbies he only won once. Winning the derby in his first home game has been a perfect start for new boss Dick Advocaat, but he's acutely aware that it will count for little if there's a poor performance to follow it."

  257. Post update

Tottenham v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

    Jonathan Pearce

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Spurs to win this for me, but only if Harry Kane's team-mates step up to the plate. He can't do it on his own. They could yet see Europe slip away and Aston Villa could yet lose their top-flight status.

"Villa's survival seems to rest with one man. Christian Benteke's midweek hat-trick against QPR took him to seven in his last five games in all. He has helped Villa score as many in their last six games in all competitions as they did in their previous 18. But they now look leaky at the other end, and improvement under Tim Sherwood has been stuttering.

"Sherwood still feels hurt by his treatment at Tottenham, where he had the best win percentage of any Spurs manager in the Premier League. A victory on Saturday would be a huge boost with winnable home matches against Everton, West Ham and Burnley to come."

  258. Post update

West Brom v Leicester (15:00 BST)

    John Roder

    Match of the Day commentator

"After this Midlands derby at The Hawthorns, Leicester City have seven matches left to try and avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

"Crucially, five of those seven fixtures are at home, in front of supporters who were given renewed belief that their team can avoid the drop when Andy King scored a late winner against West Ham last weekend.

"West Brom manager Tony Pulis will be demanding a positive response from his players to last weekend's 4-1 loss against QPR, and an early goal for his side may just settle any nerves regarding a late slide into a battle against relegation."

  259. Post update

West Ham v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    John Motson

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"On paper, a game between two clubs in ninth and 10th place - locked together on 42 points - has an end of season feel to it.

"West Ham's return of 11 points from their last 14 games has somewhat ruined their season, and initially appeared to see their European hopes fade and die - just like the bubbles in their famous anthem.

"Charlie Adam's stunning strike from his own half may have got all the stylistic points in Stoke's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea, but they ultimately left empty-handed. Indeed, they come into this game looking to halt a three-game losing streak.

"Regardless of how the remainder of Stoke's season pans out, goalkeeper Asmir Begovic's future remains an unwelcome distraction. The club want to sign the Bosnian to a new contract, but he will not make a decision until the summer."

  260. Post update

    Southampton v Hull (15:00 BST)

    Steve Wilson

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Hull's remaining fixtures are as nasty a set of matches as you'll find. After Southampton, they still have to play Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United at home, and face away trips to Burnley and Alan Pardew's revitalised Palace.

"Twelve months ago they thought their upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Sheffield United was a big game - these games are all bigger by far.

"Southampton look resigned to the thought that breaking the Champions League cartel isn't going to happen this season. Their target now must be achieving a highest top-flight finish in three decades - - since they were fifth in 1985."

  261. Post update

Team news coming up from the 15:00 BST games shortly - here's what to look out for:

  262. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

Aaron Lennon has confidence coursing through his veins now, skinning two men right on the touchline and putting 45 yards behind him, burning up the pitch. His final ball isn't the best though and Arouna Kone loses the ball.

  263. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

"The onus is on Swansea now, as the home team, to throw a few more bodies forward, to raise the energy levels to get back into the game. But I would say the same of Everton too, because both sides looked a little flat in the first half for me."

  271. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

Aaron Lennon - who scored for Everton in their last away game at QPR - has now scored in two successive away games for the first time in his Premier League career.

He doesn't get many. Not enough to be honest.

  272. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

    Dafydd Pritchard

    BBC Wales Sport

"Swansea manager Garry Monk might feel a little aggrieved to see his team trail at half-time. The decision to disallow Jonjo Shelvey's spectacular volley seemed harsh, referee Michael Oliver deeming Wayne Routledge had fouled Leighton Baines.

"But Everton finished the half strongly, with Aaron Lennon's goal on the counter-attack prompting a brief spell of pressure from the visitors much to the delight of their travelling fans. Considering how these two teams tend to favour a fluid, possession-based playing style, this has been an unusually scrappy affair."

  273. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

Swansea's attacking threat pinged alongside Bafetimbi Gomis' hamstring. Marvin Emnes has not offered much and you can't see where a goal is coming from for the hosts - bar a stunning long-range effort from Jonjo Shelvey or Gylfi Sigurdsson.

  274. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

"Swansea have looked a little bit short up front since Bafetimbi Gomis came off. None of the three players up there now are taking up the mantle of being the one main guy who they play off.

"Roberto Martinez will settle his players down at half-time and help them realise the opportunity they have to pick up three valuable points away from home."

  276. HALF-TIME

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

A stunning goal disallowed, a scruffy goal scored. That's the story of the half which ended with Everton well on top.

  277. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

Lovely stuff, it really is. Seamus Coleman to Aaron Lennon, to Ross Barkley in the D, he steps over the ball, Arouna Kone lays it off and Steven Pienaar's low shot is tame.

Everything but the final shot was superb.

  278. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

Everton purring now. When that short, sharp passing style clicks they can carve teams asunder, and they do to Swansea, the ball whizzing through several pairs of feet before falling for Arouna Kone, who swivels to get a shot in but Lukasz Fabianski makes the save.

  279. Post update

    Swansea 0-1 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

    Lennon

"You just felt Everton were forcing a few more corners, having more of the play, and Aaron Lennon had time to take a touch and volley the ball low into the ground and into the net."

  280. GOAL

Swansea 0-1 Everton - Aaron Lennon

    Lennon

Everton do have the breakthrough! Nice work down the left sees James McCarthy get clear to put in a cross. It goes right through to Aaron Lennon, who takes a touch and then prods home from close-range. Neatly finished from a man not known for his goalscoring prowess...

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

If passing in the middle third won you points, these two sides would be top of the league. Maybe Roberto Martinez and Garry Monk's styles of play are too similar. It's all a bit cancelled out.

  285. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Swansea fans will know better than me but they seem to have coped well with the loss of Michel Vorm this season. Has he been missed? Lukasz Fabianski has been solid in his place - and was the name in a rogue transfer story last week when he was linked with a move to Roma.

  286. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

"Brilliant goalkeeping from Lukasz Fabianksi. He hasn't had anything to do in the first half hour of this game but was alert there and got a strong glove to it. That's the sign of a good goalkeeper - to remain alert. But what a great effort from Seamus Coleman."

  287. GREAT SAVE!

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

The game is brightening up now, Seamus Coleman fires in a long-range strike right across the turf and Lukasz Fabianski has to go full-length to turn it away with one hand. Belting save.

  288. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

"Jonjo Shelvey didn't know the flag was up! What an unbelievable strike. We've seen him score some amazing goals, such technical ability to hit the ball from 25 yards out on the volley. Tim Howard couldn't get anywhere near it."

  289. DISALLOWED GOAL

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

The greatest disallowed goal of all time?! Jonjo Shelvey flicks the ball up, 25 yards out, and arcs a stunning dipping strike over Tim Howard's head and into the net. It is a genuinely brilliant hit.

But the whistle goes before he can celebrate, Wayne Routledge fouling Leighton Baines in the build-up. Unlucky, as that's just what this game needed. A Shelvey moment of magic.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

    Kone

Everton striker Arouna Kone is booked for leading with an arm as he went up for a header as we move into the final 20 minutes of the half. Centre-back Federico Fernandez needs a bit of treatment and applies a blob of vaseline to the bridge of his nose, in true Jim Leighton style.

  294. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Dafydd Pritchard

    BBC Wales Sport

"The Liberty Stadium has been momentarily silenced following Bafetimbi Gomis' departure with what looks like a hamstring injury.

"The French striker scored two goals in the 3-1 win over Hull last weekend and had brought the Swansea fans to their feet with a fine turn and shot here which prompted an excellent save from Everton's Tim Howard.

"But with Marvin Emnes on in Gomis' place, the hitherto boisterous crowd at the Liberty Stadium seem a little less confident of Swansea's chances."

Ross Barkley is a joy to watch isn't he? I think so. He beats two men with a subtle shift of balance, just enough to wrongfoot a defender and he finds Arouna Kone on the right of the box, His shot is easily blocked though.

Put Romelu Lukaku and Wilfried Bony out there and we could have a real game on our hands. As it is, it's Kone and Marvin Emnes. Step it up!

  300. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

"Bafetimbi Gomis had an effort on goal and felt his hamstring. It's a shame because it was a great effort, with lots of power, but he's obviously just tweaked his hamstring. Hopefully it is just a tweak and not a tear, because that's normally only two weeks."

  302. SUBSTITUTION

Swansea 0-0 Everton - GOMIS OFF

    Gomis

That's it for Bafetimbi Gomis - off he comes and on comes Marvin Emnes. Emnes leading the line now - a real test for him.

  303. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Bafetimbi Gomis is in trouble here. He pulled a muscle having that cracking strike a minute ago and now he's sitting on the turf having treatment.

  304. GREAT SAVE!

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Brilliant! Out of nothing, Swansea go close to a sensational opener. Bafetimbi Gomis turns 25 yards out and unleashes an instant effort, curling and dipping, flying into the top corner until Tim Howard somehow gets a touch on it.

The bad news for Swansea is that Gomis has pulled a muscle doing it. From the corner, Ashley Williams heads just wide. The game has come alive.

  305. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Wayne Routledge is made of stern stuff, that whack to the head would have put many a man out of action but he's back with us. That stoppage has not helped the flow of the game though, it's a bitty start from both sides.

  306. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

"Swansea are trying to get the ball into Gylfi Sigurdsson and Everton into Ross Barkley. Both players are playing in that hole behind the striker and have got important roles to play today. They are the ones who can do the damage by working the space. Arouna Kone looks a very willing runner for Everton."

  307. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Kone

Arouna Kone is a man slowly rebuilding his career after a horrendous time of it with injuries. He's no Romelu Lukaku but he is a direct and pacey threat in behind- timing his run well again to beat the offside trap and sprint clear, but he can't get a cross in.

At the other end, Wayne Routledge takes a crack to the cheek as Phil Jagielka heads one away. Stop the game, that's a right shiner..

  308. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Shelvey

Swansea have started very sloppily so far. This game had the air of an end of season dead rubber about it and there is a danger we could drift along on the breeze. Garry Monk will not be happy with that of course and is out encouraging his players to lift it.

And that's better! Bafetimbi Gomis gets behind the Everton defence, steps on to his left foot and Leighton Baines is able to cover. I mentioned pre-game the sprinklers on the pitch and the replays show standing water kicking up off the turf.

  309. Post update

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

BBC Radio 5 live at the Liberty Stadium

"It's taken Bafetimbi Gomis a little bit of time to settle at Swansea but I've always liked him. I think he felt a bit overawed by Wilfried Bony at times but now he has that position for himself he can enjoy scoring goals, which he has been doing. Hopefully he can continue that.

"Everton have started well though, they look bright with Aaron Lennon down the wing."

    Match of the Day commentator

"Ten years ago this weekend Roberto Martinez and Garry Monk lined up together for Swansea in front of a crowd of 5,000 at Lincoln City's Sincil Bank.

"A last-minute own goal by Monk saw them lose 1-0 to jeopardise their chances of promotion from League Two. They recovered, held their nerve and weeks later achieved their goal. Martinez was club captain.

"Three years later, with Martinez as manager and Monk as his captain, Swansea won the League One title. The likeable Spaniard was worshipped by the Jack Army but that heroic status plummeted when he quit the club in 2009 to further his managerial career at Wigan.

"Now his Everton side arrive in South Wales nine points and four places below Swansea in the Premier League standings. The irony will not be lost on the home fans and Martinez can expect a feisty 'welcome' on his return to the Liberty Stadium."

And life smack bang in the middle too. First up today is a lunchtime trip to sunny Swansea - it looks like a lovely day at the Liberty but Tim Howard is still wearing a snood as he goes through his warm-up.

Can Swansea get one over on old boss Roberto Martinez?

    Roberto Martinez
  333. Hi Tom

Well, it's now time to hand over to Tom Rostance, who will guide you through the afternoon's action. Enjoy.

  337. Team News

    Swansea v Everton (12:45 BST)

    Swansea City

Just the one change for Swansea as they look to reach 47 points or more for the first time in the Premier League. Angel Rangel comes back at right-back in place of the injured Kyle Naughton.

Everton are again without top scorer Romelu Lukaku, who has a hamstring injury, so Arouna Kone leads the line.

Swansea XI: Fabianski, Rangel, Taylor, Fernandez, Williams, Ki, Cork, Shelvey, Sigurdsson, Routledge, Gomis

Everton XI: Howard, Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Stones, Barry, McCarthy, Lennon, Barkley, Osman, Kone

  338. Coming up...

At 12:15 BST, fifth-placed Derby face seventh-placed Brentford in the Championship. The Bees will overtake the Rams in the table if they win.

And that is quite feasible, with the Rams losing form at this crucial stage of the season. Monday's 2-0 win over struggling Wigan was their first win in eight games. Brentford - who are parting company with manager Mark Warburton at the end of the season - are unbeaten in four games.

We are bringing you dedicated live text commentary, and BBC Radio 5 live commentary, on this website from 12:00 BST.

  339. How they stand - Championship

    Championship

The battle to stay in the Premier League is a thrilling one, but what about the race to get into the Premier League?

Three of these teams will be going up. Which ones? I haven't got a clue.

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth are leading the charge after a 2-0 win at Brighton last night and the Cherries could be heading to the top flight of English football for the first time in their history. Norwich and Watford are on their travels today and face Bolton and Millwall respectively.

Middlesbrough entertain Rotherham, Derby take on Brentford and Ipswich play already-relegated Blackpool.

  340. 'Stoke have not hit the glass ceiling'

West Ham v Stoke (15:00 BST)

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes believes there is more to come from his side. They are 10th in the table, and will move into ninth if they beat West Ham at Upton Park.

    Stoke goal

"People talk about a glass ceiling and I think we've still got head room in that regard," said Hughes.

"I think we can still push on. We're very hopeful of being in the top 10 again this year so that's two years consecutively in the top 10. We want to keep on being able to do that with a little bit more comfort so as we're not looking over our shoulders with teams that have the same aspirations as us.

"We all feel that there is more to come so that's the challenge and that's the excitement that everybody feels here."

  341. 'You have to manage the madness'

West Ham v Stoke (15:00 BST)

West Ham are ninth in the Premier League and boss Sam Allardyce believes he has done everything he can to stay at Upton Park.

    Sam Allardyce

The 60-year-old is out of contract in the summer, leading to speculation over his long-term future at the east London club, who are set for a move to the Olympic Stadium for the 2016-2017 campaign.

"I sit at this seat and do this job the best I can," he said. "Have I delivered what I have been asked to deliver? Yes. Would I do anything different? Yes, as we can all do something different.

"Have we grown the club and built expectation? Yes. Have we got as better team? Yes. And is it younger? Yes. Does it create more entertainment? Yes.

"You have to keep a cool head and my line, from a very young age, has always been that the manager's job is to manage the madness."

  342. Palace aiming for a record

Sunderland v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Crystal Palace

Palace are on target to have the best ever second half of a Premier League season in comparison to the first 19 games (since the division went to 20 teams).

They picked up 16 points from the first 19 games (only Leicester had fewer). Since Alan Pardew took over on 3 January, they have 23 points from 12 games.

On current form, they will pick up 36 points in the second half of the season. That 20-point boost would be better than Leeds' record from 2000-01.

In fact, Palace would be fifth in the Premier League if the season started when Pardew was appointed.

  343. 'We have enough time to be successful'

Sunderland v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

Sunderland fans have certainly not forgotten about Jermain Defoe's sensational volley as they beat fierce rivals Newcastle 1-0 last week, but Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat has. Sort of.

    Dick Advocaat

"We have to not think about Newcastle any more and I've told the players that," said Advocaat, whose side end the season with away matches at Arsenal and Chelsea in their last two games.

But the Dutchman wants Premier League safety secured quickly. He added: "We have in principle five games in which we have to do it.

"There are many, many good teams in this league. What I have seen is if everybody works hard then we can become successful. Hopefully we still have enough time to achieve that."

  346. 'I know them better than their dads'

Tottenham v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has revealed that he is still in touch with Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

    Harry Kane

Kane has scored 19 Premier League goals this season and is joint top-scorer with Diego Costa, with Sherwood having given him his first Spurs top flight start while head coach last season.

"I have communicated with him since I've left, just to wish him well when he's played for England and congratulate him on his call-ups," Sherwood said. "The boys have come through from very young ages. I know them as footballers better than their dads know them."

  347. 'I was very successful at Tottenham'

Tottenham v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

So Roberto Martinez takes on his former side as Everton travel to Swansea. There is another reunion coming at White Hart Lane as Tim Sherwood, now in charge at Aston Villa, faces a match against Tottenham, his only other job in management.

    Tim Sherwood

And Sherwood has been very keen to remind us all of the job he did at Spurs.

"I knew it would be a tough job at Tottenham and it proved that," he said. "But I was very successful, both as a development coach and as a manager.

"Mauricio Pochettino took over a really good situation there. We finished on par with where we should have finished. To be able to inherit a group of players of that quality and then have the benefit to strengthen - it was the dream job."

  349. We need some crazy results - Bruce

    Southampton v Hull (15:00 BST)

However, Hull are also without a win in five games but manager Steve Bruce has called on his side to start producing some "crazy results".

    Steve Bruce

"The way it's gone all season I wouldn't be surprised if it goes right down to the wire," says Bruce. "Last week people were saying QPR and Leicester were gone but all of a sudden they've produced a result and they're back in it again.

"We have just witnessed over the last week all sorts of crazy results can happen and we need to make sure we get one or two of those, that's for sure.

"We've proved this year that we're capable but we're under no illusions how difficult it is going to be. It is all to play for and it is another big weekend but we have been saying that for the best part of four months."

  350. Post update

    Southampton v Hull (15:00 BST)

Hull City are the side immediately above the relegation zone. They well be encouraged by these facts as they take on an out-of-form Southampton.

  351. The chat over coffee that led to a management career

    Burnley v Arsenal (17:30 BST)

Burnley could move out of the bottom three if they win at home against Arsenal today.

    Sean Dyche

Clarets manager Sean Dyche will be taking his place in the home dugout. But may not have been there if he hadn't had a chat with now Steve Bould (now the Arsenal assistant boss) eight years ago.

"When we were youth team coaches, I rang Steve and asked if I could have a coffee with him," said Dyche. "We met in a Starbucks and had a chat about players and careers - it was an insight.

"I had half an hour with him talking about football, and what he did. There were some things that he said that stuck with me to this day. And so I will look to use them wisely, maybe against him. Now that would be a twist in the tale."

  353. We're capable of staying up - Pearson

West Brom v Leicester (15:00 BST)

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson remains confident his side can stay in the Premier League.

    Leicester

"People tell me about other people's run-ins but you will survive or not due to your own results," said Pearson, whose side still has to play relegation rivals Burnley, Sunderland and QPR.

"We have to keep it in our hands for as long as possible and we need to win more games. That's the reality of the situation but we're capable of it.

"We have to play a lot of sides around us. It's nice to have games where we can directly affect their end to the season but the flip side is they will see it the same way."

  354. Jeff Astle Day

West Brom v Leicester (15:00 BST)

The match will mark Jeff Astle Day at The Hawthorns as the club pay tribute to their former striker who scored the winning goal in the 1968 FA Cup final against Everton and died of the brain condition CTE in 2002. West Brom will play in a replica Wembley '68 kit.

    Jeff Astle

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson, whose side are six points behind 17th-placed Hull, is worried that his side will be affected by the party atmosphere.

"It's great West Brom have decided to make an occasion to celebrate Jeff Astle's contribution and raise awareness of these types of head injury issues," said Pearson.

"But for us, unfortunately, we have to recognise we are part of the day but our own plight is the most important thing. What we can't do is get carried away in the occasion."

  355. Post update

  357. Roberto's return

    Swansea v Everton (12:45 BST)

    Martinez and Monk

So Everton boss Roberto Martinez returns to Swansea, his first managerial role in English football, and will go head-to-head with former team-mate Garry Monk.

Both men have played for and managed the Welsh side and Monk believes the club gambled twice in appointing them as managers.

"I think it was a huge risk when you think about it," said Monk. "What Roberto did was to pave the way for someone like myself to get that opportunity.

"The club has a philosophy itself in terms of they want to have a possession base and they want to see nice attacking football."

  358. Post update

    Swansea v Everton (12:45 BST)

    Swansea v Everton stat

Swansea have failed to ever beat Everton in a league game, a run stretching back to 1930 - when Dixie Dean scored twice in a 5-1 win for the Toffees.

The Swans' only ever competitive victory against Everton was in this season's League Cup third round when they won 3-0.

  359. 'We have learned our lessons'

    Swansea v Everton (12:45 BST)

So one more win and Everton fans can relax. They were getting a bit nervous before victories against Newcastle, QPR and Southampton have given them some breathing space.

And manager Roberto Martinez has been delighted with their recent run.

"The focus now is to get a real good momentum in the league - something we haven't been able to achieve this season," said Martinez.

"The maturity in our game and understanding how to win matches comes after a really tough season in which we have learned our lessons and I do feel the group is becoming a lot stronger."

  360. How they stand - bottom of the Premier League

    Premier League table

If you support any of the teams pictured above then you have every reason to be nervous. It is a big day for those at the bottom. We have six of the bottom seven in action today. There are bound to be some twists and turns coming later on.

In the first game of the day, Everton can reach the 40-point mark that would surely be enough to stay up if they win at Swansea.

  361. That sinking feeling

    Boat Race

So the men's and women's Boat Races are on later on. Some times things don't go to plan in that race, as this video shows where some crews ended up in the River Thames.

But which Premier League teams are going to have that sinking feeling at the end of the season? Let's turn our attention to the bottom of the league.

  362. What a weekend of sport

It is one of those great weekends in the sporting calendar.

    Masters

Not only is the Grand National going on later on, but there is also the Masters, the Boat Races and the Chinese Grand Prix. We will have live text commentaries of all these events on the BBC Sport website. So there is no reason to go out then.

  364. You can feel the rivalry - Mata

Manchester United v Manchester City (Sunday, 16:00 BST)

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has been speaking to the BBC and given his thoughts on the derby and settling into the area after his move from Chelsea last season.

Asked about the rivalry with Manchester City, Mata said: "I can feel it in the city, when you go to restaurants or when you are in the streets there are Manchester City supporters and they are waiting for this game.

"We arrive in the game with little points difference, but they have a great team and it will be very tough.

"I've settled into the area very well and I really like it here. From the first moment the people, the club and the supporters have welcomed me. It's a relaxing lifestyle, more than in London and I really like it."

  365. 'City's players have not given up'

Manchester United v Manchester City (Sunday, 16:00 BST)

So, as mentioned it is the Manchester derby on Sunday and our analyst Robbie Savage has given his thoughts on what is going wrong at Manchester City at the moment.

    Manchester City

"Without the ball, United press with a much greater intensity than City," said Savage. "With it, they will cause them plenty of problems. Those are the two reasons I think United will win on Sunday.

"A lot was made of United's defensive uncertainty earlier in the season when Van Gaal was changing formations and personnel on a weekly basis. City's backline has seen plenty of chopping and changing too, however, and you could argue that United's looks the stronger unit going into the derby.

"A lot has gone wrong for City but I would not question their players' attitude. Of course they care. They have problems in defence, midfield and attack but they have not just given up."

  366. Today's newspapers

    Daily Star

The Daily Star's back page features Louis van Gaal, urging his Manchester United players to keep their cool in Sunday's derby clash with Manchester City.

    Daily Star back page

The Reds manager said: "Keeping control of your emotions is always a talent of a professional football player.

"When you have a yellow card you know you cannot make a second foul which gives the second yellow card. I am always warning them, especially in these types of games, that we have to control our emotion.

"All the red cards we have had, I think it's a record in my career so many red cards - and that's not good."

  367. Today's newspapers

    The Mirror

The back pages of today's newspapers focus on some of the teams that Tottenham will need to overtake to secure a Champions League place. First up is the Daily Mirror. And it's the story that keeps on going.

    Mirror back page

Raheem Sterling's future at Liverpool continues to dominate the back pages, and the Mirror have led with the 20-year-old being heckled at the team's kit launch.

When Sterling was interviewed about the new shirt at Friday's event, one frustrated fan in the audience reportedly shouted: "Make sure we see you in it next year."

Last week, Sterling told the BBC that he had rejected a new £100,000-per-week contract and questioned his side's ability to win trophies.

  368. 'Kane can improve. A lot'

Tottenham v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

Harry Kane may be the breakthrough player of the Premier League season - but he's got a long way to go according to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

    Harry Kane

Kane, 21, has nailed down a starting place for Tottenham this season, scored 19 Premier League goals and netted on his England debut recently.

"He's not the finished product - he can improve a lot," said the Spurs boss. "When you're 21 or 22, you believe you know it all and can't improve, but, with time and experience, you see that you can improve every day."

  369. 'It's not easy, but we need to still fight'

Tottenham v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

They are seven points off the top four. But Spurs still have seven games left. And that's enough time, says manager Mauricio Pochettino.

"We are ambitious," says Pochettino. "The gap is seven points. It's not easy, but we need to still fight and we need to try to get the most points possible to arrive or be close.

"We have seven games, 21 points to play for. It's important for supporters, at White Hart Lane, and it's important to increase our performance after the Burnley game. We need to show we want to fight to go higher on the table and it's a great opportunity."

  370. Post update

Tottenham v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

So Arsenal may be looking at the Champions League and maybe, just maybe, the Premier League title, but yet again there are envious glances from across north London from Tottenham.

Yet again Spurs have looked like making the top four. Yet again they may just miss out. Manager Mauricio Pochettino is not giving up just yet.

  372. 'We all have dreams'

    Burnley v Arsenal (17:30 BST)

Even Arsene Wenger is dreaming of glory. But he's desperately trying not to.

    Arsenal goal

"The dreams are for everybody - we all have dreams at night," said Gunners boss Wenger. "But when I wake up in the morning I have to come here and make sure we give everything to win the next game.

"I have enough experience to know that I have to live with reality and reality is points and the next game.

"Chelsea have a difficult schedule, we have a difficult schedule, but what we can only do is master our own schedule. What we want is to go as high as we can until the end of the season."

  373. From no-hopers to title contenders?

    Burnley v Arsenal (17:30 BST)

Some of you may have betting slips in your hands as you hope that 100-1 shot comes in at Aintree later. Well, earlier in the season talk of Arsenal winning the title may have seemed as unlikely.

Yet with just over a month of the season, and following a run of 15 wins in 17 games, some Gunners fans are dreaming. Not only of the Premier League title. But of a league and FA Cup double.

Chelsea play at the Emirates Stadium on April 26 and Arsenal also have a league game against Manchester United. It couldn't happen. Could it?

  374. How they stand - top of the Premier League

    Top eight

So this is the situation at the top of the table. Arsenal are the only team in the top five playing today and they will move to within four points of leaders Chelsea if they beat Burnley in the later game, although Jose Mourinho's side will have played two matches less than the Gunners.

Tottenham and Southampton both need to win if they are to keep their Champions League hopes alive, while Swansea still have a chance of securing European football next season.

  375. 'Everybody loses points'

    Jose Mourinho

"Mathematically it's still open, every team who has less than 21 points than us is still in the race," said Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. "Those teams seven, eight, nine points behind are still there.

"This is the Premier League. In other countries it's difficult to believe that the top teams will lose six or seven matches in a season but here it's possible. Everybody loses matches, everybody loses points."

  376. The little horse that turned into a thoroughbred

It is Grand National day, the day when you pick a completely random horse and scream at the television hoping your luck is in and you win a fortune.

    Horses

Well, this season the Premier League is looking like a one-horse race. Last year Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho said his side were 'the little horse' in the battle for the title, which was won by Manchester City.

How that 'little horse' has grown. Now, boosted by Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, the London side have transformed into thoroughbreds and have few hurdles remaining in their pursuit for English football's biggest prize.

Will Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City be also-rans or can they pip Chelsea at the post? Mourinho says the race is not over just yet.

We had a strike from 65 yards out.

    Charlie adam
