Definitely more drive and tempo from Real since the break. Atletico are not exactly weathering a storm, but they've certainly got their coats on.

David Ivett: RM creating a lot more chances against Atleti than they usually do. Tight but I fancy RM to progress.
Real just upping the tempo, there's more zip in their game now. Real going longer, earlier and win a corner. Javier Hernandez is constantly whipping the crowd up like 1980s Bono. Another corner...
That chance has got the Bernabeu rocking again. The home fans can sense a goal.

"It was an exquisite ball from Isco, a reverse pass, and it wasn't an easy chance but it was a great opportunity."
What a pass! Andres Iniesta unlocked a defence last night with a peach of a pass and Isco does the same here, lovely ball through to unhinge the massed Atleti ranks.
Javier Hernandez is in - possibly just offside - but he's clear and on his left foot, he screws a shot just wide. Real chance, decent effort though.

"It hasn't been a spectacle in terms of chances, but it's certainly intriguing."
Manchester United fans, would you like to see Javier Hernandez back next season? He looks a better bet than Radamel Falcao to me. His mobile run down the left is well stopped by Miranda.
Back in play in Monaco too. Juve are 45 minutes from going through as it stands.

"This is so finely poised. Atletico haven't looked like scoring but I think as the game goes on they might come into it. Real will know that even if they score... an Atletico equaliser would send Simeone's men through. That would make it tense."
Back under way.
Change at the break for Atletico as Gabi replaces Saul in midfield. Gabi takes the armband too.
I've never covered a game where Toni Kroos hasn't made the most passes. He's a machine.
He made 43 in the first half. Atletico's most prolific distributor was Koke with 26.

"No East Midlands Derby, is it?"
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored only two goals in the seven games vs Atletico this season, compared to 48 in 38 matches against other sides. They have got the measure of him so far.
I wouldn't say this game has been boring- too much going on off the ball for that - but it desperately needs a goal to ignite it.
I still don't know who I'd make favourites. The longer it stays 0-0, the more dangerous an Atleti away goal becomes. If they take the lead in the last 10 minutes, Real will be in big trouble.
Gully: Ronaldo gets angry when Bale doesn't square it but won't square it himself. Sole reason why Messi is better.
We asked who your thought would progress from this tie in our vote this evening, which has just closed.
Many thanks to everyone everyone who voted - and it was close. Real came out on top, with 52.6% of you tipping the home side, while 47.4% went with Atletico.
Still goalless across the tie of course.

"There's a nervous tension in the ground... the Real fans are not getting behind their team. It's just so tense with so much at stake."
Jeremiah Kariuki: Ronaldo with a good opportunity! Big miss that may come back to haunt Real Madrid. Credit to the Atletico goalie for the block.
