Close! Ron Vlaar meets a corner with a powerful header but the Villa man steers it a few inches wide! He should score, and Tim Sherwood has a face of fury on the bench.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:28 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

What a save! Burnley's Tom Heaton with a Gordon Banks moment, one-handed stop to push away Enner Valencia's powerful shot from, what, six yards out? He seemed to have no chance, but stuck out a paw and turned it away. Tremendous stop.

    BBC Final Score

Former Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin: "A little bit of communication. That is all you are asking for there. It's the goalkeeper and defender who've made the mistake (see 15:22) and cost Sunderland, without a doubt."

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown: "For me Costel Pantilimon is taken out by the defender there. You have to be able to trust your team-mates but that is a calamity."

It's looking increasingly bleak at the bottom for both QPR and Burnley. Both of them are now seven points away from safety.

Mark Noble keeps his cool to roll in the penalty. It was a terrible strike to be honest, but the keeper went the wrong way so job done.

"That is a great goal from Liverpool. It was a break on the counter-attack and brilliant work from Rickie Lambert, his vision to see Coutinho on the back post who controlled it perfectly and scored with an exquisite finish."

A disaster for Sunderland. A hopeful long ball is punted towards goal by the visitors, Costel Pantilimon spills under very little pressure, and Sadio Mane is presented with the simple task of slotting home.

  11. PENALTY TO SUNDERLANDpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Danny Graham is bundled over by Jose Fonte's high boot and the referee points to the spot. Huge moment for Sunderland.

    Philippe CoutinhoImage source, Getty Images

Lovely finish! Philippe Coutinho has probably been Liverpool's outstanding player this season and he steers in another fine goal to put the Reds ahead. Rickie Lambert picks him out with a pass from the right wing, Coutinho's touch pops the ball up in the air and he leans back to sidefoot into the top corner. Crisp.

"It will be very hard for the QPR players and I am sure their thoughts will be with Rio and his late wife Rebecca. It is such a tragic story we are hearing today and it must be difficult for them. He was their teammate and friend."

  14. CLOSE!published at 15:19 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

The goals have dried up for Danny Ings but the Burnley striker pulls off a great effort to meet a Matty Taylor cross with a genuine flying header. He meets the ball well but can't keep his header down and on target.

No frills stuff from Sunderland as they look to get in behind Southampton's defence. Danny Graham and Connor Wickham are certainly willing runners, they just need some quality to take advantage of.

Swansea playing all the football at the Liberty Stadium and Nelson Oliveira volleys wide from a tight angle at the far post after a cross from Nathan Dyer.

  17. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

We've not seen a great deal of Rickie Lambert since he joined Liverpool last summer but the England man tests Rob Green from 20 yards with a skidding low shot.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:15 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Villa have a real spring in their step and Tim Howard has to fly to his left in the Everton goal to push away a low free-kick from long range.

  19. CLOSE!published at 15:15 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Better from the hosts. Danny Graham battles on the touchline to win his side a throw-in and, seconds later, he drives towards the penalty area before drilling over from an angle. The fans appreciated that.
