  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:46 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

So, so close for Sunderland. Connor Wickham drives through Southampton's midfield, combines with Jermain Defoe, before his shot is deflected into the path of Defoe. The former England man's diving header is finger tipped away by goalkeeper Kelvin Davis and Danny Graham is unable to convert the loose ball.

    Benteke celebratesImage source, PA

How much is this man worth on the market? Christian Benteke takes advantage of some poor defending from Everton to meet Ron Vlaar's flick-on and crash home from five yards out. John Stones lost his man, Benteke was totally unmarked.

First shot on target at the Liberty Stadium as Jonjo Shelvey shoots straight at goalkeeper Jack Butland from 20 yards. Not a thrill a minute.

Gerrard sees his free kick savedImage source, Reuters

Steven Gerrard lines up a free-kick 20 yards out, he curls one over the wall and Rob Green makes another good save. Liverpool warming up but it's a subdued atmosphere.

  10. CLOSE!published at 15:40 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Connor Wickham holds his head in his hands.

Patrick van Aanholt does well down the left and his low cross picks the Sunderland striker out unmarked 10 yards out. Wickham though lifts his head and side foots wildly over the bar. He should do better.

    Tim SherwoodImage source, Reuters

The turnaround in fortunes for Aston Villa under Tim Sherwood is incredible. Under Paul Lambert they were hugely tedious to watch. Now they pose a threat at all times, hitting their front men early and getting the impressive Fabian Delph on the ball whenever they can. The sideways pass has gone.

Southampton have enjoyed 57% of possession so far...

They look the more dangerous although goalkeeper Kelvin Davis hasn't been called into action too much. Sunderland are currently three points adrift of safety.

Stoke v SwanseaImage source, Getty Images

Not much excitement at the Liberty Stadium. Swansea are playing their usual, passing, football but Stoke look relatively untroubled. Every inch the meaningless mid table match this one.

  14. League Two updatepublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

It is too little, too late for Cheltenham. They are already down and heading out of the Football League, but are winning 1-0 in their final game after Durrell Berry's goal in their away match at AFC Wimbledon.

    Burton fansImage source, PA

The Burton fans, many in fancy dress, are hoping to be celebrating their team winning the League Two title. Well, Tom Elliott has just headed in an equaliser for Cambridge to make it 1-1, although Burton are still on course to win the division as second-placed Shrewsbury are losing 1-0 at home to Plymouth.

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:33 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Ashley Barnes! You need these to go in when you're down there but the Burnley striker sees his cracking header somehow kicked away by West Ham keeper Adrian.

Matty Taylor was on the line as well but couldn't squeeze it in.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

More bad news for Sunderland as John O'Shea is replaced by Santiago Vergini in the heart of the defence. O'Shea collided with Shane Long earlier and hasn't been able to shake it off.

Southampton are pushing for a second goal now. Ryan Bertrand does well down the flank but his cross is headed over by Graziano Pelle. The Black Cats are currently three points adrift of safety. A gap is in danger of appearing between the bottom three and the others.
