Paris St-Germain 1-3 Barcelona
Barcelona forward Luis Suarez: "We weren't overly dominant. We played intelligently, and worked hard.
"When you play against an opponent like them you have to play with intensity to get the win. We knew we had to win. There's 90 minutes still to go and nothing is sorted, but we have a good advantage."

David: The Luis Suarez show rolls on, the best striker in world football bar none.
Stephen Collins: Seems crazy to say, but Suarez was a bargain for Barca at £75m. Back on top of La Liga and rocking the CL thanks to his goals.
Femi Come: David Luiz's price tag just went down several millions with two nutmegs from Suarez today.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez: "We knew before the game that if you don't start to concentrate we can't win the game. In this situation when you play against a big team you need concentration.
"I prefer the win than talking about my goals. We know it was an important game today and it's a good result but in football you never know what can happen and we have 90 minutes more next week."

Capital R: David Luiz has had a complete nightmare. A massive shade of the £50m price tag PSG paid.
Rishi Verma: Ibra was the focal point of attack at both Milan and Inter, and now at PSG where everything goes through him. A huge loss.
Naveed Afzal: And that is why Jose Mourinho got rid of David Luiz (even though he knocked them out) 50m calamity all day long.
Tunde Giwa II: Suarez is just too good. The most complete striker in football right now.

In League Two Burton are still trailing Carlisle 1-0.
GREAT SAVE!

Lionel Messi, over the wall - good save!
CLOSE!
Paris St-Germain 1-3 Barcelona
Chance! PSG somehow almost get a second as Adirano makes a fine tackle and the ball runs kindly for Edinso Cavani. I can't criticise him this time, it's a fine strike but Jeremy Mathieu makes an excellent block.
Barca have a free-kick now at the other end. Excellent range for Lionel Messi...

A lot of you are ruminating on the fact that David Luiz cost £50m from Chelsea. His defending has been poor for both of Luis Suarez's goals tonight but the flip side of that is that Suarez's movement and touch were top class.
Chelsea basically got Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas for that sale...
GOAL
Paris St-Germain 1-3 Barcelona - Jeremy Mathieu OG
A chance! A glimmer of hope for PSG as they get a fortuitous route back into the game. Right-back Gregory van der Wiel follows up a deep cross at the back post and fires it in low and hard, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen could throw his cap on it until it takes a massive deflection off Jeremy Mathieu and flies in.
That makes the second leg marginally more interesting anyway. Keeps Zlatan onside.

Aidan Mifsud : Barcelona are just no fun are they? Just too good, let the poor PSG boys play a little. Bayern on the other hand.....
Stepan Benyovszky: This is ridiculous, Barca are now officially treating this as an exhibition match. The gap in class is telling.

GOAL
Paris St-Germain 0-3 Barcelona - Luis Suarez
See you later PSG, thanks for coming. Let yourselves out, mind the noise for the neighbours won't you? Cheers.
Dear oh dear, this is equally brilliant from Luis Suarez and calamitous from David Luiz and co at the back for PSG. They lose the ball, Suarez plays a sharp one-two to bear down on Luiz, he nutmegs him with outrageous ease to go clean through on goal and then supplies a hedonistic finish. He bends a shot right into the top corner, right in the corner, when there was no need. He could have just passed it in. But he made sure it was special.

Barca's tactics for the last 15 minutes are as potentially lethal as they are simple. Pull seven men behind the ball and leave Messi, Neymar and Suarez in the PSG half and let them do what they want.

Paris St-Germain 0-2 Barcelona
We have entered the showboat zone it appears as Lionel Messi sets out to replicate, if not better, Luis Suarez's solo goal. He beats three men with an ease not seen since Keanu Reeves at the end of the Matrix. He can see time at a different speed. Walks past the PSG defence but fires his shot over the bar.
Messi is the member of Barca's front three who hasn't scored...

GREAT SAVE!
Paris St-Germain 0-2 Barcelona
Edinson Cavani comes to the party! What a strike, that's why he's worth £55m. Superior technique to lash a strike in on goal from 15 yards but Marc-Andre ter Stegen makes a telling save.

PSG missing Zlatan?
James Bornstein: If big Ibrahimovic was leading the line instead of Cavanu I think we would be in a different situation now.
Chris Rod: Cavani is and always will be a poacher, Ibrahimovic is a monster! For all those saying PSG didn't need him.
Aran: Criticism at Cavani being terrible in big games but why doesn't Zlatan? How often does he turn up in big games?
GOAL
Paris St-Germain 0-2 Barcelona - Luis Suarez
Look away now Liverpool fans. Your ex-love is doing it on the biggest stage. And it's beautiful.
Genius. This is absolutely brilliant from Luis Suarez, who nutmegs David Luiz out on the right wing, checking back inside with such a sharp touch to drive into the box, two more PSG defenders converge, he jags through the smallest of gaps and squeezes off an early strike which Salvatore Sirigu can't keep out. Tie over?
SUBSTITUTION
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona
PSGg nned answers fast and they turn to another Brazilian, the lightning-quick Lucas on for Adrien Rabiot. Get your wheels turning Lucas old boy or this tie could be out of sight.
Since he came on, by the way, Xavi has made as many passes as Luis Suarez has all game. He could form the basis of the ultimate 5-a-side team with Paul Scholes. You'd never get the ball.
GOAL
Porto 3-1 Bayern Munich - Jackson Martinez (65 mins)
Huge goal for Porto, who continue to throw a huge Iberian cat amongst the Bavarian pigeons. Jackson Martinez with a great touch to go round the keeper and score.

Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona
Edinson Cavani thinks he's offside when he's over the top - play to the whistle! How infuriating, and the fans get on his case too. Quite right. A frustrating display from the number nine on a night when his side needed him to raise his game.
YELLOW CARD
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona
Lionel Messi lunges in late and he's booked by Mark Clattenburg. One for Clatts to tick off the ref's wishlist. Scrappy game now, a few tasty tackles coming in but Barca have all the hallmarks of a side which are happy to take a 1-0 lead into the second leg. Bank the away goal and good night.
SUBSTITUTION
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona - Iniesta off
Andres Iniesta's injury was not as innocuous as it looked, he has to go off on a stretcher and Xavi comes on to replace him. His 147th appearance in the Champions League - equal with Iker Casillas.
Post update
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona
Another 20-yard effort for PSG, they are trying their arm from range more often in this second half. Adrien Rabiot drags a shot toward goal but it's tame. Andres Iniesta needs some treatment as George Weah looks on.
Legend.
Football League update
Championship and League Two
In the Championship the second half has just got under way at the City Ground where goals from Odion Ighalo and Matthew Connolly have given Watford a 2-0 lead against Nottingham Forest. Watford are level on points with second placed Norwich, but kept out of the automatic promotion places on goal difference, a few more tonight and that could all change. Elsewhere it's half-time at Craven Cottage where it's Fulham 0-1 Rotherham.
It's also half-time in League Two where Carlisle are winning 1-0 away to league leaders Burton.

Watford have now gone 2-0 up against Nottingham Forest in the Championship. Matthew Connolly scored the Hornets' second. As it stands Watford are level on points with Norwich who are second, but have an inferior goal difference to the Canaries who have scored one goal more.
Post update
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona
PSG have a ragged minute and they are lucky not to go two down. First, they over-commit at a corner and a better pass from Neymar would have sent Lionel Messi in on goal from the halfway line.
Then, David Luiz has one of his 'Playstation' moments, charging out of position to the left and being tackled by Luis Suarez. Suarez is short of support so tries to chip Salvatore Sirigu from 25 yards, but Sirigu covers his ground to save.
He lands on his shoulder and needs treatment though. More injury problems for the hosts? He'll see it through to half-time at least.

Cam Bam: A player like Carrick would make this PSG team one Of the best with his ability to pass forward and his passing range.

Belete Eshetea: From Bad to Worse-PSG a goal down and without their captain. Mission improbable?

Lovely play from Maxwell as he whips in a cross on the run to the near post, Edinson Cavani gets across Javier Mascherano but he can't generate any power on his left-footed volley. Fine play from the PSG left-back who has had some career hasn't he?
YELLOW CARD
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona
Gerard Pique goes into the book for the sort of tackle you want your defender to make, a cynical stop on halfway.
Not one member of the Barca squad is a booking away from a suspension. Squeaky clean.
Football League update
Championship and League Two
Big goal towards the bottom of the Championship as Rotherham take the lead against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Matt Derbyshire's fourth-minute goal has moved the visitors above the Cottagers as it stands. Elsewhere it's Nottingham Forest 0-1 Watford and in League Two it's Burton 0-1 Carlisle.
Post update
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona
My doubts over the clinical nature of Edinson Cavani continue. Ezequiel Lavezzi picks it up on the left, turns inside and releases Cavani into an ocean of space. A good first touch and he's in on goal, but it's a horror, bobbling off his shins and allowing Javier Maschreano to make a heroic sliding intervention.
For all the money Cavani has cost, he should be doing better. Great chance for PSG. Zlatan would have buried that.

2. He's only 10 days into a recovery from a hamstring injury which was supposed to take a month.
A half-fit David Luiz against this Barca attack?
Post update
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona
To make matters worse for PSG captain Thiago Silva limped off in the aftermath of that goal. David Luiz isn't on yet so PSG have 10 men.
GOAL
Paris St-Germain 0-1 Barcelona - Neymar
Bad defending is catching across Europe. This is a goal right off the textbook as Barca win the ball back and the transition is frightening. It's three on three, Lionel Messi running at the centre-backs and picking out Neymar to his left, the Brazilian taking one touch and gliding the ball into the corner.
Thierry Henry-esque.

Ohigho Musa: PSG lack that fighting and aggressive spirit that can take the game to Barcelona's half. I see Barca taking this game.
Belete Eshetea: Hey City, this is how you play against Barcelona.
Neil Roddis: Jordi Alba blatantly dived in penalty area, why no yellow card?

Paris St-Germain 0-0 Barcelona
That was baffling defending from PSG. As inexcusable as the full-back who allows Arjen Robben to cut inside from the right wing on to his left foot.
PSG looking scruffy at the back as now Neymar reads the bouncing ball and gets a shot away, but he skies it.
HITS THE WOODWORK
Paris St-Germain 0-0 Barcelona
Andres Iniesta conducting the early play for Barca with 13 passes in 13 minutes. And now Lionel Messi hits the post!
You've got to close him down! Who doesn't close Lionel Messi down 25 yards out? Madness. Marquinhos inexplicably allows Messi to take a touch and set himself and the Barca number 10 curls a shot against the post.
Football League update
Championship and League Two
In the Championship Watford have taken an early lead against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo scoring a fourth minute header.
In League Two Danny Grainger has scored a free-kick after two minutes to put Carlisle in front against the league leaders Burton Albion.
GOAL
Porto 2-0 Bayern Munich - Ricardo Quaresma (10 mins)
Well now, this is a right turn-up for the books. Bayern Munich have momentarily forgotten how to defend as Dante messes up this time, Ricardo Quaresma cashing in with his second of the night.

CLOSE!
Paris St-Germain 0-0 Barcelona
Eric Cantona recently said that Javier Pastore was the best player in the world but he's had a mare here! PSG's first attack of the night sees Maxwell pick him out but he has a complete air-kick, the ball hitting the ankle of his standing leg. He was only eight yards out.
Think Andy Cole on his England debut. (I think).

Paris St-Germain 0-0 Barcelona
If anyone knows how to get the ball off Barcelona, the biggest jobs in Europe are yours. Nobody has mastered the art of stopping the Barca carousel in full swing and it's the men in garish yellow seeing all of the ball so far.
PENALTY APPEAL
Paris St-Germain 0-0 Barcelona
Barca half-heartedly appeal for a spot-kick but that is a poor dive from Jordi Alba, he went down in instalments under Thiago Silva's 'challenge'. Stay on your feet!

We want to know your dream Premier League players
Romario scored 1,000 goals in his 22-year career, but the Brazilian striker never set foot in the Premier League. Who else, past or present, do you wish had come to England?
John McEnerney: Paolo Maldini & Xavi Hernandez both class acts who would've been majestic in the Premiership as they were in La Liga and Serie A!
Zred: Romario would've shattered all the scoring records in English football.
Girish Santhosh: Would have loved Iniesta in the Premier league. Would have proved talent is foremost and pace is secondary.
David Vincent Hunt: Javier Zanetti would have been an absolute joy to watch in the English game. He just had so much class.

Tell us which player, past or present, would you have like to have seen handle a cold night at the Britannia stadium?
Chris in Caerphilly: I know a lot of attention will go on attacking players, but Paolo Maldini was sheer class. In the AC Milan side at 16 and stayed there...Ferguson tried but never got his man and that was the Premier League's loss.
Matt, Northamptonshire: Whilst he was at AC Milan in his pomp (2005-2007) has to be Kaka, Rio Ferdinand says he is the only player he's ever seen quicker with the ball than without!
Will, London: Christian Vieri - absolute beast in the air, strong, lethal finisher and criminally underrated.
So we want the AC Milan side of 2005-7 in the Premier League? Kaka ruined Manchester United that time...

Matt Wilkinson: Wild card for player to play in Premier League Hugo Sanchez would have scored for fun! Great poacher. Liverpool need him now!!
Patrick Johnson: Would have loved to seen Andrea Pirlo in the Premier League. Makes the game look so easy.

Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
Gerard Pique is making his 300th appearance for Barcelona tonight since signing from Manchester United in 2008. The 28-year-old has gone on to win four league titles and two Champions Leagues at the Nou Camp.

We asked which player you would have liked to have seen in the Premier League - lots of love for Ronny.
Qasim, Leicester: Has to be Ronaldhino - made the game look easy with his dancing feet. Also that goofy smile would light up the Premier League and make you forgot about your teams woes.
Steven in Derry: An obvious one which technically could still happen but I would have loved to have seen Ronaldinho in England. Never has a player left me in awe of the audacity of his skill like him. Wet, Wednesday night in Stoke would have been all the better.
Mickey G. London: Pippo Inzaghi - Goal poacher supreme. Never got the hang of the offside rule, though.

Messi's miserable year?
Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
"It was a year I have tried to forget quickly."
When you're (one of) the world's best player(s) - possibly ever - you have to live up to very, very high standards.
So 2014 is a year Lionel Messi has chosen to write off. And he's certainly been in better form this season.
He was only named the best player of the World Cup and scored 41 times for Barca last year. Rubbish...

Interesting that Luis Enrique has replaced Jeremy Mathieu at centre-half tonight and gone for the greater mobility of Javier Mascherano at the back. Edinson Cavani will no doubt keep him honest - but does the Uruguayan flatter to deceive at the top level?
Doesn't score enough for me.
Team News
Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
Barcelona make their customary keeper change for the Champions League, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen replacing Claudio Bravo. Dani Alves serves a one-match suspension and so Martin Montoya starts at right-back, while Javier Mascherano is selected at centre-back ahead of Jeremy Mathieu.
PSG's already-mentioned suspension woes dictate changes for this game. In total they make five from the team that won the French League Cup on Saturday, which also saw them rest key players. Edinson Cavani is shouldering a greater burden in attack in the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with former Newcastle man Yohan Cabaye coming in to midfield. Gregory van der Wiel returns at right-back, while Salvatore Sirigu takes the place of Nicolas Douchez in goal.
Barcelona starting XI: Ter Stegen, Montoya, Pique, Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta, Suarez, Messi, Neymar, Mascherano, Alba.
Paris St-Germain starting XI: Sirigu, Van der Wiel, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Maxwell, Rabiot, Cabaye, Matuidi, Lavezzi, Cavani, Pastore.
Football League tonight
In the Championship, fourth-placed Watford could move on level points with Norwich in the second automatic promotion place if they beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
At the bottom of the table, Fulham in 20th, face Rotherham, 21st, at Craven Cottage. The Cottagers are six points above the relegation zone while their visitors are four points from the drop. A win for either side will go a long way to guaranteeing Championship football next season.
League Two leaders Burton Albion can move within one match of promotion if they beat Carlisle at the Pirelli Stadium. Wins for Bury and Southend on Tuesday mean the earliest Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side can be promoted is Saturday - assuming they beat Carlisle.
Previous meetings
Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
These two sides know plenty about each other, having met in this year's group stage.
PSG won their home game 3-2, with Blaise Matuidi netting the winner, while Barca's holy trinity of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all scored in a 3-1 win at the Nou Camp before Christmas.
The sides also met in the quarter-finals two years ago, Barca going through on away goals after a 2-2 draw at the Parc des Princes and a 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended tonight but he's still the talk of the town. That's what a rockstar does.
He's 33 now and is unlikely to ever play in the Premier League - unless Big Sam gets the Bolton retirement home business back up and running next season - which is undoubtedly a shame for fans of the English game.
But which other players - past or present - who have never played in England would you love to see in the Premier League?
I want names and more importantly, reasons.

Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
Coaches Laurent Blanc and Luis Enrique should be able to share a few friendly words across the technical area this week - the two were briefly Barca team-mates back in the 1996-97 season.
PSG boss Blanc may have ended his career as a dawdling centre-half at Manchester United but was peerless at his best, a brilliant reader of the game and a high-class distributor too.
Barca coach Enrique was - as fans of a certain management game of the era will recall - a very versatile player but mainly used in midfield. What a player, what a kit!
Barca ne bénéficient pas de France...
Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
So PSG are formidable at home, and Barcelona are rather impotent in France.
For a side who have laid waste to most of Europe in recent times their record across the Pyrenees is surprisingly tame.
Barca have not won in their last four visits, although three of those were drawn.
They last won on French soil at Lyon in the 2001-02 group stage, Xavi playing in a 3-2 victory. He's still going strong. Can he be part of another big win tonight? He's on the bench.
The missing
Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic sits this one out with a one-game ban after his contentious sending off against Chelsea in the last round. Also banned is midfielder Marco Verratti, while right-back Serge Aurier begins a three-game ban for "insulting acts" towards the referee.
Blaise Matuidi and Gregory van der Wiel are both a booking away from a ban.
For Barca, right-back Dani Alves serves a one-match suspension.
Fortress Parc des Princes
Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
How can PSG beat Barcelona tonight?
Well, for starters, their home record is nothing short of outstanding.
Laurent Blanc's side are unbeaten in 33 European home games - winning 22 - with their last defeat a 4-2 loss to Hapoel Tel-Aviv in the old Uefa Cup way back in November 2006.
And that was a very different - pre Qatar money - side. Made up of the likes of David Hellebuyck and Pierre-Alain Frau. Well exactly...
Stage set in Paris
Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
Daily Telegraph football correspondent Henry Winter has posted this picture on Twitter, adding: "Glorious evening at Parc des Princes. Another playground for Messi?
No Zlatan, no party?
Paris St-Germain v Barcelona (19:45 BST)
When you are playing Barcelona for a place in the last four of the Champions League you could really do with your talisman.
Paris St-Germain need Zlatan Ibrahimovic - but tonight he is suspended.
They need the sort of guy who says that France don't even deserve to have a team like PSG.
The sort of guy who gets annoyed by being named the second-best Swedish sportsman of all time and says "I would have been No 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 - with due respect to the others."
The sort of guy who stole his manager's bike as a child to save a 5km walk to training.
But more importantly, the sort of guy who has scored 43 Champions League goals and won titles in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France.
PSG have no Zlatan tonight, but do PSG have a chance? You bet...
