Darryl, Liverpool fan in Cheshire: I'm sorry but Chelski don't like it up em to quote Dads Army .... Mourinho doesn't like decisions against his own team - that Fabregas action was a microcosm of the manager, no class at all ... Champions of the league but no wonder this team will never be loved by many

Josh: Not that this in any way exonerates Fabregas but the whole episode could have been avoided by not showing a pair or ridiculous yellow cards to Costa and Macauley for essentially nothing.

Mark, Berkshire: Players acting like five year old children again; typical of over paid over pampered footballers.

Daryl Wing: Can't condone what Fabregas did but best ball of the night by far.

Chelsea have reacted well. Eden Hazard looks to advance into the penalty area on the left but solid stuff from Gareth McAuley as he tackles the Belgian and wins a goal kick. Chelsea are hurting here.

Joel Fentem: Silly from Fabregas no doubt, but how on earth is that a red card.

Peter Collins: That might just be the most stupid thing to get sent off for. Throwing the ball at the ref? I expected yellow, but red?!

"Chelsea are going to play as a 4-4-1 now. They're going to leave Diego Costa up the pitch, he'll be the out ball, a role he knows well. Hazard might have to play a bit more defensively on the left."

What do you reckon then? For me, that red card is harsh but seems I'm the only one thinking it. Just kicking the ball back wasn't he?

Lively stuff now though as Diego Costa tussles with Joleon Lescott.

"Cesc Fabregas knew exactly what he was doing there. He was 10, 15 yards away, and he just boots the ball into the melee of players. Absolutely mindless from Fabregas, he didn't need to get involved."

Who said this match means nothing?

As the players were scuffling inside the penalty area after Diego Costa and Gareth McAuley's clash, Cesc Fabregas opts to kick the ball into the crowd of players from about 20 yards away and onto Chris Brunt's head.

Whether he meant it or not, he is off.

  9. RED CARD FOR CHELSEApublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 18 May 2015

Patient stuff from Chelsea on the edge of the penalty area. Fabregas, Hazard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek passing the ball around until...

Handbags in the penalty area as play is abruptly halted by the shrill blow of the whistle. Diego Costa is booked for clashing with Gareth McAuley.

It is all kicking off as Cesc Fabregas sees red.

Chelsea break with lightning pace. Cesc Fabregas plays Diego Costa down the left, he pulls the ball back from the bye-line and Eden Hazard's close-range effort is deflected over the bar.

Chelsea are enjoying the better of the match now. They have had two thirds of the possession, more than twice as many passes, but are behind in the only column that matters. Goals for.

Some showboating from Craig Dawson for West Brom as he nutmegs Nemanja Matic then Filipe Luis, before having a shot blocked for a corner. The corner is cleared.

Ronaldo Burgundy: Get in! Fingers crossed that isn't a farewell goal from Berahino who is still very much a work in progress. Come on you Baggies.

Jas Grewal: Berahino would be a good buy for Liverpool, they need that sort of striker.

Saido Berahino is one of only six players to score 10 plus home goals in the Premier League this season.

It was his first goal for nine Premier League games though.

Richardinho: Berahino's goal similar to Sigurdsson's yesterday and provides a wake-up call for an uncharacteristically slow-starting Chelsea.

KoloKK: Saido, scoring a goal that matters; when it no longer matters.

Bit harsh that Kolo. He has got 19 this season...

"I'm interested to see how Loftus-Cheek goes tonight. In possession, he's a wonderful technician, so gifted. But I think he was a little out of position for the goal, and if he's going to play for Mourinho, he's going to have to improve his positioning when not in possession."

Chelsea's Diego Costa is lying down on the ground in the penalty area not looking particularly happy with life. The Spain striker got the ball to feet just 10 yards from goal but, after being ushered away from goal, Chris Brunt clatters into a challenge. Fair tackle, wins the ball and the fans love it.
