The Liverpool team coach has pulled up outside the Britannia Stadium. Boss Brendan Rodgers is the first off it - Raheem Sterling one of the last. Steven Gerrard is asked for a television interview before he reaches the visitors dressing room. He obliges. Team news from Stoke coming up.

"Newcastle's fans have been drawn to St. James' Park hours before kick-off today. This superb arena, so close to the city centre, is every inch the perfect setting for a club to enjoy Premier League success, or indeed any success at all.

"And yet they have to go back to 1969 for their last silverware in the Inter Cities' Fairs Cup - and now face the prospect of relegation from the Premier League. Little wonder that you can almost reach out and touch the mixture of frustration and anxiety of those fans already gathered around the concourses here waiting for kick-off against West Ham United."

    Stoke City

I can't be alone in hoping that Bojan comes back firing for Stoke after his serious knee injury. The former Barca man was just starting to sparkle in the Premier League. A classy addition.

"This season has been a major disappointment. Shorn of Suarez and the perennially injured Sturridge, Liverpool have always been off the pace. Two cup near misses and an early European exit have been followed by the tawdry saga of Raheem Sterling's contract negotiations.

"If Liverpool missed their targets and look in a mess, Stoke have hit theirs and look in splendid shape. Back-to-back ninth-place finishes is an impressive achievement.

"Mark Hughes has built on the solid foundations laid by Tony Pulis. Still combative but now more expansive, the addition of the likes of Bojan, Arnautovic and Diouf have sprinkled a little gold dust among those red-and-white stripes."

MOTD's Simon Brotherton at the King Power

"After the great escape was completed last weekend at Sunderland, it's a chance for Leicester fans to welcome the team home and celebrate Premier League survival.

"The supporters deserve it too, after backing the team and the manager throughout, while creating a constantly noisy and positive atmosphere during recent home games.

"Leicester's survival has been a turnaround for the ages with six wins from eight matches and a total of 19 points from the last 24.

"It promises to be a summer of change at Loftus Road, with head coach Chris Ramsey - already appointed on a permanent basis - and director of football Les Ferdinand ready to start a major clearout."

    Burnley

Danny Ings, in a display of straight batting that is needed at Lord's this afternoon, just knocked back a question about his future at Burnley by saying that he will speak to his agent after the game and go from there.

Where do we expect Ings to be playing next season?

"Today will be a day of celebration for both clubs. Chelsea will lap up the Premier League trophy presentation. They deserve to. They won more games and lost fewer than anyone else.

"No club conceded fewer goals. No-one created more than Cesc Fabregas. No-one played better than Eden Hazard. No captain led his team with more authority than John Terry.

"Sunderland's final whistle merriments should be muted. They have survived for another year. But they should never have been in a struggling position. Their campaign has been drab at best, mismanaged at worst."

"When Sam Allardyce was sacked as manager of Newcastle United in January 2008, he had been in charge for 21 Premier League games - of which they had won seven, earning a total of 26 points.

"John Carver has overseen Newcastle for a total of 18 Premier League games - of which they have won two, earning a total of nine points.

"Someone questioned this week whether Allardyce would be particularly motivated by the prospect of relegating Newcastle. Motivated? You'd better believe it."

MOTD's Dan O'Hagan at Villa Park

"This could be a Villa Park farewell for Christian Benteke. The claret and blue faithful must be concerned by the daily news reports of Champions League-qualified clubs casting envious glances at a player who has rediscovered his very best form since the change of management - it can be no coincidence that 11 of his 13 Premier League goals have come under the liberating Tim Sherwood.

"Certainly saying goodbye are Burnley. Relegation was confirmed earlier this month, but Sean Dyche's team depart the division having contributed plenty to the season.

"Nine of their starters in their final home match with Stoke were veterans of the promotion campaign - proof of the Clarets' financial prudence, which will arguably see them well-equipped to mount a strong challenge for immediate promotion next season."

  11. No De Gea?published at 13:34 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

    Man Utd

Anders Lindegaard and Victor Valdes are both in the Manchester United squad as they step off the coach at Hull - but there's no sign of David De Gea, and I didn't catch sight of Radamel Falcao either.

They could be there of course, but the cameras didn't spot them. Adios?

  12. Postpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 24 May 2015

MOTD's John Motson at Emirates Stadium

"Arsenal's focus now turns to next weekend's FA Cup final, where they could become the first team to lift the trophy 12 times - they are level with Manchester United on 11 - and they won't want to go into that game on the back of a poor performance.

"I'm anticipating a team not too dissimilar to the one Arsene Wenger will play at Wembley. There are still a couple of places up for grabs, with Jack Wilshere back in contention and a scramble at left-back between Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal.

"The Baggies were just a point above the relegation zone when he took over; they can end the season no lower than 13th."

Team news for the final time this season is just 30 minutes away now. A few youngsters making debuts around the grounds? Quite possibly.

Not for Hull City though as they fight for their lives. Can they pull off a famous win?

Chelsea's very own Terminator Didier Drogba is leaving the club again after today's game - but he isn't retiring. He wants a few more years yet on the pitch.

He told Sky Sports: "I spoke with the manager and the board and we all agreed that I wanted to enjoy more time on the pitch so they will let me go. I will always come back here, the club want me to be part of the future of this team.

"I am happy with the way we found this solution. I want to play on so I will find a new club.

"This group of players gave me the best present. I came back and have won the league and today id a big celebration. We deserve it."

Newcastle fan Jamie Smith, 36, from fanzine The Mag: "In the pub now with my mates. Talk turns to our last good day out when we had a cracking trip to Hull in January. Our 3-0 win there was the only real performance the team has put in under John Carver, and it could prove to be crucial today.

"The unanimous opinion is that our best hope lies in Man Utd getting a result, as there is little confidence in our own ability to beat West Ham/anybody.

"There's an extra element of dread for my mate Martin and myself, as we are off to see the Foo Fighters tomorrow...... At the Stadium of Light, not the ideal destination the day after a Newcastle relegation."

"In his programme notes for the decisive game against West Ham United at St. James' Park, manager John Carver writes: "Nobody wants this club to be in the Championship next season so please, put all your frustrations and grievances aside for 90 minutes, get behind the team and play your part in hopefully keeping us in the Premier League."
