A few months ago it looked like there was no chance of Leicester staying up - but they did, and in style.

So quite right too that vice chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has got his massive chequebook out to buy all of the fans a drink.

Supporters will be given a voucher to claim a beer - or a bottle of water - at the King Power Stadium.

QPR fans travelling to Leicester and hoping to drown their relegation sorrows on the cheap will be disappointed though, as the offer only extends to home fans.

Celebrity fans are usually good for a bit of mutually beneficial publicity, but not a lot else.

But Newcastle, have a joker up their sleeve in spoon-bending paranormal physic fella Uri Geller.

In 2001, Geller helped helped Newcastle end a run of 29 matches without a win in London by running around Highbury 11 times - the sum of two and nine in 29 - before the Magpies won 3-1 against Arsenal.

"I would only need two or three minutes with the players to get the adrenaline going and to motivate them," he told the Newcastle Chronicle., external ahead of Newcastle's crunch meeting with West Ham today.

"If Carver invites me that would have much more of a positive effect than anything else."

Cristiano Ronaldo finished up his season with a hat-trick against Getafe last night - taking his club tally to 61 in 54 games.

Before he and Lionel Messi arrived on the scene, I presumed those sort of numbers had died with the likes of Dixie Dean.

No such scoring feats in the Premier League this season, but there is a five-way fight for the slightly-contrived Golden Gloves award.

    Newcastle United

Newcastle fan Jamie Smith, 36, from fanzine The Mag: "Leaving now for Newcastle, saying goodbye to my mate Rob, a fellow lifelong Magpie who refused the offer of a free ticket. Rob has made the decision to boycott St James' Park until Mike Ashley's regime at the club ends, an option that many hardcore Newcastle fans have felt forced into. In spite of his self-imposed exile, I can see him getting twitchy already at the day's prospects.

"Also looking a bit twitchy is my wife Emma, who is missing a post-wedding barbecue today so her husband can attend a potential relegation. What's that famous quote from Bill Shankly?

"Also, in heading off it would be amiss of me not to thank the new Mr and Mrs Meadows for a cracking day yesterday. Congrats again Kat and Dan."

Hull City fan and blogger Rick Skelton, 35: "I'm yet to speak to anyone this weekend who thinks Hull City will stay up. It's almost entirely due to a lack of faith in our ability to beat United.

"Regardless of who goes down it will be deserved. Both Hull City and Newcastle have owners in the Allams and Mike Ashley respectively who are determined to make life difficult for themselves - showing no regard for what their fans want. There are needless fights going on at both clubs."

    Mike AshleyImage source, Getty Images

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley runs the club "from another planet", according to former manager Kevin Keegan.

In a critique of the Sports Direct billionaire's tenure since 2007, Keegan said fans has been treated with "such disrespect".

"It is almost as if Mike Ashley has said, 'what is the worst I can do?" the ex-Liverpool striker told Sportsweek.

The Magpies play West Ham and must match Hull's result against Manchester United to stay in the Premier League.

Speaking before Sunday's final game of the season - which manager John Carver has called "the biggest in six years" - Keegan said Ashley treats the Magpies as "just a commodity" and that there was "all sorts wrong with the club".
