"Much, much better from Chelsea. Cesc Fabregas is starting to dictate the play a lot better from a new position further back in midfield. He knows his team needs to get a hold on this game."

That goal has definitely stirred Chelsea in action and they are pushing Arsenal players back towards the edge of their own area.

Loic Remy, with the ball on edge of the box, tries to cut a pass to Eden Hazard in the middle of the area but Laurent Koscielny strides into the mix and hoofs the ball away. No nonsense defending.

    Arsenal 1-0 Chelea

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

"Arsenal have shown great tenacity in this opening period and their intensity has been higher than Chelsea's. It's a deserved lead on the balance of play so far.

"Cesc Fabregas looks to be dropping deeper for Chelsea now. He was playing higher up the pitch but was struggling to get involved in the game."

BBC Sport's Danny Murphy: "I was just about to say  we need to see more from Oxlade-Chamberlain but, wow, what a goal.

"He came inside on his weaker left foot and smashed it into the corner. Power, pace and skill, with goals like that let's hope he stays fit for Arsenal and England."

The breakthrough! Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain grabs the opener - and Arsenal's first goal against a Jose Mourinho-led Chelsea since 2007 - when he is picked out by Theo Walcott just inside the area, he opens up space for himself before curling the ball into the far corner. Great finish.

Fair to say Theo Walcott is a little bit isolated as a lone striker so far for the Gunners. His touch map below shows he has had two touches...

Gary Cahill's nose cannot catch a break. He was a fitness doubt because of a nose injury before the game but was passed fit, but a knock to it just now causes the blood to flow.

There is a brief pause in play while it is dealt with and he's back up and running now.

Arsene Wenger, wearing a crisp white shirt and Arsenal tie, patrols his technical area with his arms folded, a moody look on his face as another Arsenal attack breaks down because of a wayward a pass.

After a bright start, the Gunners have lost their way a little bit at the moment.

Jose Mourinho may claim this is more than a friendly, but he's gone casual with his touchline attire. Chelsea t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms are the order of the day for the Blues boss.

First chance for Loic Remy to use his pace as he chases a ball down the left side of the area before hooking in a cross, which is deflected behind for a corner.

Cesc Fabregas swings the ball in and it cuts through the defence to Branislav Ivanovic, who tries to head over Petr Cech, but the referee whistles for an Arsenal free-kick for a nudge on Nacho Monreal by Gary Cahill.

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Scotland international on BBC Radio 5 live

"Cesc Fabregas is probably the most important player for Chelsea today, but he's not finding an awful lot of space there in the number 10 role. With him playing further up, Jose Mourinho's side aren't controlling the game the way they normally do. It's not working so far for the Blues, but Theo Walcott looks very dangerous with his pace behind the defence."

"Penalty!" scream the Chelsea fans as Cesc Fabregas drops to the floor inside the Arsenal area after clashing with Per Mertesacker.

Replays show the midfielder had just clattered into the back of the lanky defender, bouncing off him like a tennis ball off a racquet. No penalty. Correct decision.
