Championship preview
Birmingham have temporarily taken top spot in the embryonic Championship table after drawing 2-2 at Burnley in the early kick-off – but a host of teams will look to depose them this afternoon.
Among them are MK Dons, who recorded the biggest win in the division on the opening weekend with a 4-1 victory at Rotherham. Today, Karl Robinson’s side host Preston, who came up with them from League One last May.
Charlton started their campaign with a 2-0 league win over QPR, and followed it up with a 4-1 League Cup thrashing of Dagenham and Redbridge in midweek. Guy Luzon’s side look to make it three wins out of three at Derby.
Elsewhere, Middlesbrough’s new striker David Nugent is on the bench for the visit of Bolton, but Bobby Zamora is not yet match-fit enough to make the Brighton squad as they visit his former club Fulham.
Southampton 0-3 Everton
Everton midfielder and goalscorer Ross Barkley: "The lads showed a lot of confidence from the off. It's a credit to the backroom for getting us all together. The clean sheet is good for all the team. Gives us a lot of confidence. You know how good Lukaku can be. When he's playing like that he is the best in the league."

Quote MessageAfter the early Southampton fizz, Everton took over the midfield. It was a classic away performance. It will be a performance that will buoy the supporters.

Quote Message"I think the whole of the Everton team is playing with much more purpose this season. They're moving the ball around much more quickly - particularly on the counter."
Southampton 0-3 Everton
A very, very happy afternoon for Everton brings them three points courtesy of a stellar display at St Mary's. They were the better side throughout, ruthlessly taking their chances and defending resolutely. Worrying for Southampton. They have conceded five in their first two games.
Southampton 0-3 Everton
"Time to go" rings out from the away end as Southampton supporters start to make their way to the exit. That Ross Barkley goal was like a fire drill for the home fans. The Everton fans are going nowhere, though. They're enjoying every second of this.

Quote MessageThere were many contributions in that fine move. It was a glorious shot curled into the far corner with pace. Reward for Barkley who's had a good game. Lukaku has led the line well.

Southampton 0-3 Everton
Everton's Ross Barkley has played two games this season and has already equalled his goal tally from 2014-15. I don't know if that is praise for the way he has started this campaign or condemnation of his last? Both, I guess.
Ross Barkley (83 mins)
What an afternoon this is turning out to be for Everton. Ross Barkley wraps up the three points with a superb finish in to the far corner of the net from 12 yards out. They carved Southampton open, with Romelu Lukaku holding the ball up before setting up Seamus Coleman to find Barkley for his composed finish. Roberto Martinez uppercuts the air with delight.
Tottenham v Stoke (15:00 BST)
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino makes two changes from the side which lost 1-0 to Manchester United last weekend.
France goalkeeeper Hugo Lloris, who fractured his wrist in pre-season, is fit enough to start and replaces Michel Vorm while Ryan Mason is preferred in midfield to Nabil Bentaleb who is dropped to the bench.
Tottenham XI: Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Mason; Chadli, Dembele, Eriksen; Kane
Stoke boss Mark Hughes makes one change from the side which were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool at the Britannia Stadium.
Marko Arnautovic is preferred to Charlie Adam, who is named among the substitutes. New boy Xherdan Shaqiri is missing as he serves a one-match ban carried over from previous club Inter Milan.
Stoke XI: Butland; Johnson, Cameron, Muniesa, Pieters; Whelan, van Ginkel; Walters, Afellay, Arnautovic; Diouf
Swansea v Newcastle (15:00 BST)
Swansea City v Newcastle United (15:00 BST)
Swansea make one enforced change as midfielder Jack Cork replaces Ki Sung-Yueng, who has a hamstring strain, following the 2-2 draw at Chelsea last Saturday.
Newcastle drew 2-2 with Southampton last time out and manager Steve McClaren decides to stick with the same starting line-up.
Swansea XI: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor, Cork, Shelvey, Ayew, Sigurdsson, Montero, Gomis.
Newcastle XI: Krul, Janmaat, Mbemba, Coloccini, Haidara, Anita, Colback, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Obertan, Cisse.
Southampton 0-2 Everton
Southampton 0-2 Everton
No sign of Southampton getting back into the game at St Mary's. Everton are digging in deep, holding the home side at arm's length and taking every opportunity to halt play. The Toffees are managing the game very well.
