Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure: "I know what I have to do and I don't care what people say about me. I'm not back - I'm always there.

"It's about the team. We did a massive job today. West Brom have a good manager and players. Full credit to all our team. We made it easy because we played our own football, we played with belief and intensity."

  3. Pulis takes the blamepublished at 22:24

West Brom manager Tony Pulis, speaking to Sky Sports: "I take responsibility for the way we set up. The fact we had Saido and Rickie up front together pulled us away from what we should do. I said to them afterwards I’d take responsibility.

"There are certain principles we have to stick by and work with to get results at this level and I went away from that. We created quite a few chances but we were far too loose as a team.

"We know what we need to do in the transfer market. The chairman has been very good. We’re after quite a few targets and there will be players who leave the club as well."

We'll have some reaction from West Brom boss Tony Pulis for you soon. Just be patient and all your Pulis reaction dreams will come true.

Ten of the opening 30 Premier League goals in 2015-16 have been scored by African players – it took 120 goals last season for that landmark.

Fans of running stats might be interested to know Jesus Navas ran more (11.59km) than any other player and had more sprints - 79 - than anyone else.

Raheem Sterling ran 8.5km and went on 56 sprints. He reached the top speed of anyone on the pitch - 32.44km/h.

Darren Fletcher topped West Brom's running charts, with Chris Brunt going on more dribbles than any other Baggies player today.

Take from that what you will. If anything.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini speaking to Sky Sports: "It is very important to start the season with a win. I'm always pleased when my team scores.

"I like attacking football. We did really well and when you score it is important to score more but be balanced. To keep the clean sheet is also important. We returned to see the Yaya Toure of a season ago.

"Raheem Sterling had two clear chances to score but he is just starting with new team-mates. It was maybe not his best performance."

Hope Pebor:  Chelsea fan here. I think City played very well and they are the major title contenders along with my team. I wish they could do well in Europe as well this season. This City team can win the Premier League this season because they look hungry and more fired up unlike Chelsea who are quite complacent at the moment. Can't wait for Sunday. City v Chelsea will be a cracker - hopefully Chelsea wins.

More from Vincent Kompany: "The main thing is that we have some new tools to use this season. Raheem has given us sharpness and speed to hurt teams when we’re defending. It gives other teams things to think about. It gives us that bit of danger we need and we have so many tools to hurt teams."

I don't want to sound too hyperbolic but Manchester City v Chelsea next Sunday is already shaping up to be an enthralling game.

It was put to Vincent Kompany that City will be five points clear of the champions if they win that game...

"It will be a big game very early in the season and I’m sure it will matter," the captain said.

"We can’t go into it thinking it’s about winning the league but it will matter so we need to put in a great performance."

Yaya Toure might get man of the match today, but David Silva was brilliant. Here's his touch map - involved all over the attacking half of the pitch today - left, right and centre.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, speaking to Sky Sports: "We have something to prove. Last season was below what we’re used to doing. It was a good way to start the first game.

"It gives us extra motivation. We came out knowing we had a point to prove. If you’d seen the faces in training last week, I knew the team was going to be ready for this game.

"Every club needs stability. It [Manuel Pellegrini's new contract] gives us stability and the right kind of environment to work in towards the end of the season."

So we've seen all 20 Premier League teams this weekend. There's no doubt that Manchester City have been the best of the title contenders so far.

Manchester United had an unconvincing win, Arsenal lost and Chelsea were held. But Manuel Pellegrini's side were dominant and clinical.
