    Vincent Kompany celebratesImage source, Reuters

Vincent Kompany failed to score in any of his 25 Premier League appearances last season by the way.

It's been a great day for Kompany and Yaya Toure, arguably the two City players whose stock took the biggest hit last season.

Sergio Aguero has a shot blocked with his first touch. It's going to be a long final 25 minutes for West Brom. Especially their defenders and midfielders on a booking. I wouldn't rule out a red card.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 63 mins

Just what West Brom's defenders didn't want to see. Sergio Aguero, who did not start tonight following his Copa America exploits this summer, comes on for Wilfried Bony.

When you look at all of the top teams this weekend, Manchester City have been the most impressive

David Silva takes the corner and it's game over asVincent Kompanyleaps like a mighty salmon to head (it might have been a shoulder) the ball over Boaz Myhill from an angle and into the back of the net.

    Game over.

David Silva has been fantastic today - like with two minutes ago, he somehow finds space when he's heavily marked and his cross to Wilfried Bony is deflected out for a corner.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 10 August 2015

And now West Brom's debutant defender James Chester is booked for fouling Raheem Sterling, who was just about to sprint away from him.

The second Albion player in the book today for fouling the ex-Liverpool winger.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 57 mins

West Brom midfielder Craig Gardner has no complaints about this - Jesus Navas is starting a counter-attack and the Baggies man scythes him down. Took one for the team.

  11. Postpublished at 57 mins

David Silva is played down the right by Jesus Navas. The Spaniard is closely marked by Claudio Yacob and Joleon Lescott but manages to lose both of them and crosses into the 'corridor of uncertainty' but nobody is there to tap in from four yards out.

  12. Postpublished at 55 mins

West Brom are actually shading possession in this half. A huge improvement on the first period where it was one-way traffic.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is booked for a foul on Craig Gardner.

West Brom have been a lot better in the second half since Tony Pulis's tactical reshuffle. They have another attack but Saido Berahino's cross is easily held by Joe Hart, who has been a lot busier in the last seven minutes.

What a run from Berahino but he really should have scored. I thought he was offside actually but with his finishing ability you'd expect him to score.

  17. Postpublished at 51 mins

Saido Berahino has a huge chance to make it 2-1 but messes it up. James Morrison plays a ball over the Manchester City defence and Berahino, about eight yards out, gets the ball stuck under his foot and fails to get his shot away.

    Rickie Lambert shootsImage source, Reuters

West Brom striker Rickie Lambert has another free-kick from distance. This one is much better than the first but his curling effort lands on the top of the net. Joe Hart was worried in the Manchester City goal.

Raheem Sterling has another chance. David Silva sets him through down the left wing but he's pressurised by the West Brom defence and his shot from an angle is saved by the feet of Boaz Myhill.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    West Brom 0-2 Manchester City

West Brom go straight on the attack from kick-off through Rickie Lambert with Manchester City happy to concede a throw-in.
