Problems here as Ashley Young rolls his ankle. Think he's OK.

If Liverpool don't score it will be the first time ever in the top-flight they've scored two goals or fewer in their opening five games.

  2. SUBSTITUTION - Martial onpublished at 65 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

Anthony Martial is on for his Premier League debut, he replaces Juan Mata. All eyes on him. The most expensive teenager in the world.

Liverpool send on one of their own as Jordon Ibe replaces Roberto Firmino.

  3. CLOSE!published at 65 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

How has that stayed out! From the corner Martin Skrtel flicks on, Danny Ings is denied right on the line. The ball bobbles across and Roberto Firmino has the goal at his mercy, but he can't get a shot away!

  4. Postpublished at 63 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

Great play in midfield from Emre Can, he drives past one man and slides a ball into the path of Christian Benteke. Matteo Darmian does just enough.

Olowabi Akanni:  De Gea just showed why Man Utd didn't want him to go on the cheap, simply world-class!

Chris Harvey:  United have the best goalkeeper, the best full-backs and the strongest midfield in the league. Obvious what they are lacking.

Ashley Young whips a free-kick up and over the wall, but it keeps rising into the Stretford End. Any sign of movement on the benches? Not sure if Anthony Martial has been sent out to warm up.

"Manchester United's goal has acted like a cattle-prod on Liverpool. Suddenly they have been sparked into action. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will curse shocking marking for Daley Blind's goal - but Louis van Gaal celebrated like a man who had just watched a training ground manoeuvre work to perfection."

The whole tempo of the game is much more like it since half time. Both sides finally looking to be a threat.

"Danny Ings didn't hit the ball as hard as he would have liked but that actually might have made things harder for David De Gea.

"De Gea following up an error with an excellent stop. Suddenly a game of football has broken out."

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 57 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

And now Liverpool go close again. A free-kick is nodded on, Danny Ings gets a shot away, it's not the cleanest of strikes but bounces awkwardly off the turf and is looping in until David De Gea stretches out a hand and pushes it away.

    Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool's best opening! And it all comes from a poor clearance from David De Gea.

Liverpool work the ball neatly out to the right, Nathaniel Clyne feeds Roberto Firmino and his cross is going in until Chris Smalling clears from off the line!

There was some good holding from Bastian Schweinsteiger in that cleverly-worked free-kick from Manchester United. They really drew all the defenders toward the goal, leaving Daley Blind with all sorts of space to plant his shot into the corner. Good finish.

Can Liverpool respond? They have been abject in attack all night.

Ehinome Iyayi:  Daley Blind, take a bow!

Ashic Mahtab: You can tell they practised that in training!

Blake Keeble: If the goal doesn't lighten up this game I don't know what will.

Hopefully that is the tonic the game needed. The crowd have come alive and Juan Mata almost finds Ander Herrera with a clever chip over the top, Martin Skrtel reacts well to clear.

Another set-piece causes Liverpool trouble as Daley Blind's cross is scuffed behind by Bastian Schweinsteiger.

"No-one picked up Daley Blind and he stroked it gleefully into the top corner of Simon Mignolet's net.

"Obviously it worked on the training ground and it certainly worked on the pitch as well. He had acres of space, a really good finish."

    Daley Blind (49 mins)

And from the free-kick, Manchester United take the lead! Juan Mata cuts it back as everyone expects the cross, Daley Blind is all alone 18 yards out and curls home left-footed into the top corner. A lovely strike.

Ryan Giggs appears to be praying on the Manchester United bench. It's worth trying anything I guess.

United seeing plenty of the ball but it's so slow, so predictable.
