If Brendan Rodgers wants another win at Old Trafford, the next 45 minutes may represent his best chance. Manchester United dominated the half but were still woeful.

"Manchester United and Liverpool goalless at half-time and pretty much a betrayal of even the very least you would expect from this fixture. Dull. Boring. Quiet. Tame."

Nick Hughes:  What an appalling game of football. Utter shambles from both sides. Liverpool need to change formation, United need a striker.

Richard: Did I just watch a half between Manchester United and Liverpool with no shots on goal and no saves made?

Theo Bowyer:  Woeful is kind for the dross that United and Liverpool are serving up. I've seen more skill in a Sunday league match!

I'm trying not to be overly negative but that was truly dismal stuff. Dear, oh dear.

A colleague in the office is offering the fact that these players have all been away on international break as a slight excuse. Maybe. Maybe.

Ashley Young is having an animated warm-up. Perhaps he can turn it around?

"Seldom has there been a poorer first half between Manchester United and Liverpool.

"United have dominated without making Simon Mignolet do too much more than come and clear with a few punches.

"The returning David De Gea could have sat down and read a book."

ForzaMichael:  This is the worst I've seen United play at OT. Utterly dreadful. The players don't care.

The Lammergeier:  Haven’t watched a game this slow and boring in ages. Absolute waste.

Adam Cornish: Let's be honest about this game it's awful.

Surely it has to improve after the break. Right?
