Slaven Bilic - Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde?

The Croatian arrived amid a huge fanfare this summer, replacing the pragmatic Sam Allardyce, as the Hammers went in search of a more attracting style.

At home, as previously described, it has been a disaster, but on their travels they have beaten Arsenal and Liverpool and looked like world beaters.

    A conundrum eh Sam?

  2. LINE-UPS - West Hampublished at 19:13

West Ham v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

Victor Moses, on loan from Chelsea, makes his West Ham debut but other new signings Nikica Jelavic and Michail Antonio start on the bench, while Alex Song, back on another loan deal at Upton Park, misses out with an ankle injury.

Mark Noble is able to captain the side after winning an appeal following his red card at Liverpool in the Hammers’ last match. Andy Carroll is in the squad for the first time since needing knee surgery in February and is on the bench against his former club.

If Newcastle win this evening, Chelsea will be in the bottom three. Will Jose will nervously pacing around the living room? Probably not...

  4. How they standpublished at 19:10

West Ham v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

A win for West Ham would take them above Crystal Palace into fifth position with only Manchester City, Leicester, Manchester United and Arsenal above them.

    Premier League

Newcastle will be out of the bottom three with a win, but will replace rivals Sunderland at the bottom if they lose by a two-goal margin.

If Steve McClaren's side pick up three points then Jose Mourinho's Chelsea will drop into the relegation places.

  5. Splashing the cashpublished at 19:08

    West Ham v Newcastle

Newcastle may not have started that well this season but there does appear to be a bit more positivity about the place under head coach Steve McClaren.

They have splashed the cash in the summer, buying Chancel Mbemba from Anderlecht for £8.5m, Aleksandar Mitrovic also from Anderlecht for £13m, Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV £14.5m and Marseille winger Florian Thauvin for £12m.

Still it isn't difficult for things to be calmer than they were last season is it? McClaren could still do with some results and quick.

West Ham v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

Different season, same old problems for Newcastle.

The Magpies are still waiting for their first win of the season, not even scoring in their last three matches.

Stretching back into last season, they haven't won for nine away league matches.

Not much fun being part of the Toon Army at the moment.

Neither West Ham nor Newcastle fans will be feeling great this season but, talking about feeling bad, how about this from Villa boss Tim Sherwood?

Villa manager Tim Sherwood says he has "never felt this bad" after his side lost.

That got me thinking: what is your lowest point in football? It can be as a supporter, an amateur player or anything else related to the game.

So far this campaign they have played two and lost two at home and new boss Slaven Bilic will be desperate to end his home duck against winless Newcastle today.

Now though, they have just 17 league matches left at the Boleyn Ground and the grand farewell hasn't started well.
