What a world we live in that Stoke have Bojan, Xherdan Shaqiri and Marko Arnautovic in their attacking line-up.

You suspect they probably don't miss Chris Iwelumo too much.

Swansea manager Garry Monk, speaking on Sky Sports about the changes to his side: “It’s a team I think can help us win this game. We’ve identified where we think we can hurt Stoke and that’s the team I've decided to go with.”

Sub at Eltham: Took a lady out to watch her beloved Charlton play Cardiff at The Valley back in 2012. At 2-0 down things looked grim for the Addicks but a second-half fightback saw the game finish 5-4 to Charlton. We've never been back since but did get engaged mind.

Tom in Swansea:  Swindon 5-5 Sheffield United in last season's League One play-off, as a Blades fan it was thrilling but devastating.

Garry Monk has done fantastically. He has taken to the role really very quickly. I think his standing at the club has probably helped - he has been there a long time and been the captain. He seems to have made the transition very comfortably, so that's credit to him.

We need to get to a level where we are consistently performing and we did that exceptionally well last season. We have a key period in our season now, and the couple of extra days' preparation is good.

Big Bird: North Ferriby United vs. Wrexham in the FA Trophy final at Wembley. Ferriby are 2-0 down to a team a league above them after 75 minutes, but heroically pull it back to 2-2, forcing extra time. ET ends 3-3 and we're down to penalties. And would you believe it, the boys from a village in Humberside beat the Welsh boys 5-4 on penalties. Unbelievable.

I can throw another surprising classic into the mix, in 2007 I saw Levadia Tallinn win 10-0 at FC Ajax Lasnamae - as you do. Not the most partisan home crowd, they just laughed when the keeper punched the ball into his own net.

  13. 'Hughes will want to dampen Welsh joy'published at 19:29

    Steve Wilson
BBC Radio 5 live commentator at Liberty Stadium

"Discounting Premier League new boy Eddie Howe, the change of manager at Anfield has left Mark Hughes as the second longest-serving current boss in the top league with 29 months under his belt at the Britannia.

"No doubt Hughes - for five years the manager of the Welsh national team - will be relishing getting a taste of the feel-good factor in his home country, and expecting to dampen it just a touch whilst he's there.

"Swansea could do with the points, too, though. They're winless in five games in league and cup since beating Manchester United, whilst Stoke are now unbeaten in four."

Both these managers have got squads of 25 or so. What's the point of that if 10 don't even get off the bench? Swansea's sports science lads have probably got involved and said if Gylfi Sigurdsson plays 90 minutes then he probably risks injury.
