  1. 'Never write off Rooney'published at 12:21

Crystal Palace v Man Utd (15:00 GMT)

It should be a good match at Selhurst Park this afternoon, where Crystal Palace welcome Manchester United.

And despite the England striker only scoring two league goals this season, Wayne Rooney remains a big threat, according to Eagles boss Alan Pardew.

"I think Wayne, throughout most of his career, has been at the top of the pitch or just back one in the number 10 role," said Pardew. "He plays both roles very well. He is at the top of the pitch now and maybe he is not getting the service he would probably want in that.

"I can see a little bit of frustration in him but that makes him dangerous. Rooney has proved many times, particularly when he gets criticism, that he can deliver.

"We'll be on our guard for Wayne. He's an outstanding player, he's the England captain and we'll give him the respect he deserves."

Australian football was supposedly cursed after the players broke a promise to a local witchdoctor after a World Cup qualifying win against Rhodesia in 1969.

The national team then suffered a run of gut-wrenching defeats, including defeats to Iran and Uruguay at the final stage of World Cup qualifying in 1998 and 2002.

The curse was only lifted when Aussie comedian John Safran went back to Zimbabwe for a TV show and got another witchdoctor to reverse the hex.

I like Klopp and I think ultimately he will be successful. But he'll need to make changes: there are four or five players in the Liverpool squad who just aren't built for his fast-paced pressing game."

Chelsea are able to call on striker Diego Costa after he recovered from a rib injury that forced him off in the Capital One Cup defeat at Stoke City.

Liverpool's £32m summer signing Christian Benteke missed their win against Bournemouth with a knee injury. He is only fit enough to make the bench so we may see Brazilian Roberto Firmino in an advanced role.

It's the Premier League's best attack against the Premier League's third-most leakiest defence.

Bound to be 0-0 now I've mentioned that.

I'm not shocked by Fabregas being dropped. He's not shown the legs to play at number 10. The one thing that jumps out at you when you look at the two teams is the difference in physique. Chelsea are absolutely miles ahead."

Liam Dempsey: Benfica, since the last European Cup they won they have had a curse which was put on them by a former manager or chairman.

That's right Liam, it was former manager Bela Guttmann having been denied a pay rise after lifting the trophy. "Not in 100 years from now will Benfica ever be European champions," he told the board.

That was in 1962. The Portuguese giants have lost all eight of their finals in European competitions since...

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was out early to inspect the Stamford Bridge surface - and soon found himself deep in conversation with a member of Chelsea's staff.

The German takes a hands-on approach and when Chelsea warm-up they will find themselves under Klopp's steely gaze as he looks for any clues that might help his own preparation.

Is it just me who was really impressed by Adam Bogdan for Liverpool in midweek? With Simon Mignolet's form not the best long-term, I wonder if Klopp considered putting in the Hungarian against Chelsea today?

My favourite bit of trivia about Bogdan, by the way, is that he's nicknamed 'Wotsit' because of his likeness to a particular cheese-flavoured crisp.
