    West Brom 2-3 Leicester

Jamie Vardy will get a lot of the headlines, but, once again, Riyad Mahrez was magnificent. He was everywhere, as the heat map below shows...

“We fight to the end. We have a very strong character and play good football. I told my players they were playing very well at half-time, to be careful at set-plays, and it was important to move the ball quickly and put them under pressure. We did that well. It’s important Jamie (Vardy) continues to work for the team. The record is good for everybody. We conceded a goal today, so no pizza. Nothing.”

It was a mixed afternoon for England's forward players...

Kev: Credit to Sterling, he changed the game - no Aguero or Silva but keep finding ways to win.

Matt: Blaming Rooney is unfair. He's getting no service. No-one behind him creating spaces. Too slow getting it to him.

Samantha: Vardy for Sports Personality of the Year?! Title race is back on!

  4. Boring, boring United?published at 17:18

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester United

Wayne Rooney can only dream of stats like Jamie Vardy at the moment. The Manchester United and England man struggled again today as his side drew 0-0 at Crystal Palace. Palace are strong at home so it is not a bad point, but United (and their manager Louis van Gaal) could really have done with a win to head off chat (sparked by Paul Scholes this week) that they are boring.

  5. Premier League top-scorerspublished at 17:15

The Premier League top-scorer list has a very unfamiliar feel about it. Here is the top three...

    Jamie Vardy(Leicester) 11

    Odion Ighalo(Watford) 7

    Riyad Mahrez(Leicester) 7

Mahrez scored twice for Leicester this afternoon, while Ighalo bagged a brace for the Hornets to see off West Ham.

Not that long ago, Vardy was a non-league player, Mahrez was turning out for Le Havre's second team and Ighalo was grafting away on loan at Granada.

I don't think Jamie Vardy is quite at the stage of being England's first-choice striker yet. He's not quite the same player when he pulls on an England shirt."

If I achieve it (scoring in a record number of Premier League games) it will be an absolute honour but I've just got to knuckle down and prepare for the next game."

  8. He's just a goal machine...published at 17:03

    West Brom 2-3 Leicester

Jamie Vardy: goal machine. The Leicester striker has now scored in eight matches in a row (after netting against West Brom). Only Daniel Sturridge (9) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (10) can better that in the Premier League.

If you'd said at the start of the season that Vardy would be on the verge of breaking Premier League scoring records and Leicester would be third at the end of October, you'd have been laughed out of the room.

As we head into autumn, we're seeing what a good signing Petr Cech was for Arsenal - and what he's left behind at Chelsea."

    Speaking of goalkeeper clangers...

Well, we asked for more goals and entertainment in the second half and we certainly got that. In spades. Goals, penalties, red cards, goalkeeper clangers and chopping and changing at the top of the table. Premier League, take a bow.

Si: Yaya Toure does what all title-chasing players do; bail their team-mates out if they make big mistakes.

Will: What do you think the odds would have been to bet on Leicester to take Chelsea's place in the CL at the start of this season?

Mike: Five games, no wins and one goal is just not good enough and acceptable. Time to go Louis.

Not Yaya Toure, this time, but Aleksandar Kolarov, who steps up and smashes the ball past the right-hand post. It doesn't matter, though, because...

Another penalty to Manchester City, deep in injury time. Raheem Sterling is felled by a rash tackle from Robbie Brady.

Interesting substitution to tell you about at the Liberty Stadium. Mesut Ozil is off and on comes Alex Iwobi, who is the nephew of one Jay-Jay Okacha, formerly of Bolton Wanderers.
