    Philippe Coutinho

Scenes of joy on the Liverpool bench as Jurgen Klopp and soon to be introduced Jordon Ibe go nuts. Jose Mourinho claps, he tries to motivate his side as Philippe Coutinho slides to the corner flag in celebration - he has two, Liverpool have two and this result could have massive repercussions.

A long ball is knocked down by Christian Benteke and Coutinho shaped to make space, eventually gets some, before firing in via a small deflection. What a moment.

Wonderful, wonderful stuff from Oscar as he robs Lucas of possession on halfway and lets rip from 45 yards. It's audacious and bang on target, forcing Simon Mignolet into a superb diving tip around the post.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool

Cesc Fabregas - dropped from the staring XI today - has been brought on for John Obi Mikel. You get the sense there is a winner in this.

What else was going on in the UK the last time a team of champions started the season as badly as Chelsea?

Well, in October 1995 - as champions Blackburn floundered early in their defence - Julie Goodyear left Coronation Street.

Her character Bet Lynch ran the bar at the Rovers Return, so she was a big deal. Plus she'd been on the show nearly 30 years. Like Mourinho, she came back to her spiritual home for another stint later in her career.

That's a very very poor decision. After the yellow card that Mikel has just got, how can Mark Clattenburg not book Lucas for that? It's embarrassing."

Now we have some drama. Jose Mourinho is off the bench waving his arms around in protest. Why? Because Lucas Leiva has just fouled Ramires and is already on the yellow. The Chelsea players are all over Mark Clattenburg to ask for the dismissal.

What will Clattenburg do? He gives the benefit of the doubt. No doubt Mourinho will remind us of this moment later.

Former referee Howard Webb tells BT Sport Diego Costa should have been sent off a few minutes ago for appearing to lash out at Martin Skrtel.  The pair challenged one another and as both men were on the floor, Costa seemed to kick out at his opponent.

It will be interesting to see if the FA have much to say about this one.

Emre Can is in the book. Another serial offender. In comes the free-kick, headed at goal by Kurt Zouma and hacked away by Alberto Moreno who is well positioned.

Christian Benteke is being talked to on the bench and is stripped off. He watches on as Adam Lallana fizzes one wide from range.

It's Liverpool's captain James Milner who departs, that's interesting. The armband goes to Martin Skrtel.

Would it be harsh to suggest that Kenedy has already done more than Hazard did in the entire match?"

Kenedy nearly makes an instant impact, shooting wide from 18 yards after a good run but Ramires has a real sight of goal... wonderful block. Both Martin Skrtel and Emre Can threw themselves at that as the midfielder sought his second of the game from the edge of the box. It looked like he had space. door shut in his face.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 59 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool

WOW. Off jogs Eden Hazard. Voted player of the year in award ceremony after award ceremony last season, he has struggled and Kenedy is brought into the fray.

Hazard 33 touches in just under an hour, 26 passes, 80% accurate. Will Liverpool be thrilled with that change?

The pressing game shines through for Liverpool suddenly as Adam Lallana pins Willian into his own corner but the Brazilian is given a reprieve by a sloppy Alberto Moreno tackle.

Lallana has put in an honest shift so far but with 40 touches, needs to see more of the ball to make more of an impact.

A few roars go up in the away end as Gary Cahill botches a header. The central defender tried to guide one back to his keeper but caught Asmir Begovic out and the ball goes for a corner.

Cahill hacks the ball away in his own area again - a second corner - James Milner from range... over.

Liverpool look good here, well in the match, in charge if anything. Could we see Christian Benteke to press the momentum home?

We've heard Jose Mourinho talk of Kurt Zouma's pace and he shows why there. A great turn of foot to hound down James Milner in a wide area before executing a great tackle.

It was like Red Rum meets Lawrence Dallaglio.

  20. CLOSE!published at 46 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool

An early sight of goal for Oscar - who looks like he will play centrally behind the striker now. He bursts through the defence but Martin Skrtel just, and I mean just, has the legs to clear as play entered the area.

It would appear Eden Hazard has switched wide so Oscar can move into the thick of things.
