Hartlepool manager Ronnie Moore: "We've been so, so lucky. We didn't turn up in the first half - our only shot was the penalty. My voice is killing me from shouting at half-time.

"We were a bit better in the second half, not good, but we still probably had the best chances in the game. It's unacceptable. These are professional players. We've brought a crowd here, the game was on TV.

"I could have gone out there and given more than some of them in that first half - honestly.

"In the end we are happy we are still in the hat. But I'm not having that. And believe me, the players know."

  5. 'Gutted we didn't win'published at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2015

    Salford City 1-1 Hartlepool

Salford co-manager Anthony Johnson: "It feels like a defeat. I thought we did enough to win the game. We were superb in the second half, it wasn't one for the purists but I feel gutted we didn't win.

"We've always said, no matter who will play against we will compete. No-one will ever outwork us. We are massively old school in our coaching and we love working on fitness. We only get two sessions a week.

"I just said to Chris Lynch coming off - we are in the hat for the third round of the FA Cup. That is unbelievable, Manchester City, Manchester United, whoever.

"We know the replay will be tough but we are up for it."

  6. 'I'm loving my football'published at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2015

    Salford City 1-1 Hartlepool

Salford defender Stephen O'Halloran: "We didn't start the best, at all! But we dug deep and could have nicked it at the end. You wouldn't have put too much money on me popping up with a goal but I found myself in the right area.

"We have a lot of heart. We had another gear left in us. I'm loving my football here, we have earned a lot of respect."

Salford free-kick, 25 yards out. Is this it?

A yard wide. At most. A yard away from round three.

"What a chance. A glorious cross, but Scott Fenwick gets it horribly wrong. He just doesn't get it right, he times it wrong, gets beyond the ball.

"It was almost as if he tried to head the ball before it got to him."

  19. SITTER!published at 84 mins

Dear oh dear! A rival for Rakish Bingham for miss of the day/round/year. Hartlepool have wasted two huge chances now as this time Scott Fenwick is unmarked at the back stick to meet a cross from Rhys Oates, he's free as a bird, but he gets it all wrong and somehow ends up heading the ball behind him!
