Salford City v Hartlepool (19:55 GMT)

    Danny Murphy
    Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Two

"You've got to show a lower league team you are better than them. You have got to want to prove a point.

"Collectively, it is not always that easy as, on the opposite side, you can get complacent.

"One thing Hartlepool do have in their advantage is they train all the time and are full time, so their quality should come through."

Here come the players, emerging from their portakabins into the chilly Salford air. A chance to be a star, says Danny Murphy. Can anyone take that chance?

Ten minutes to go, this is your 10-minute warning.

Win tonight and you could get Manchester United away. Chelsea at home. Leicester, Stoke, Arsenal, Liverpool, City - a game-changer of a game.

Or you could get Eastleigh away...

  5. 'Meet fire with fire'published at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2015

Salford City v Hartlepool (19:55 GMT)

Salford defender Steve Howson: "This is massive. We will be under a lot of pressure today and have to make sure we are really switched on.

"We were underdogs in the first round and we are again today. We’ll just do the same as we did against Notts County."

Salford forward Danny Webber: "You can see everybody is at it tonight, we're looking to replicate what we did last time, show the same energy and the same spirit, we're excited.

"We are focussing on what we will do. We know they will come with fire but we'll meet them with equal fire."

    Danny Murphy
    Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Two

"You could argue you should do your best anywhere on pitch but if you have lads on pitch who you respect it helps.

"You always want to do a little bit more for each other."

What are we thinking of Salford's chances then tonight? They thoroughly deserved to beat Notts County in the first round and will give Hartlepool a real test if they can reach that level again.

Ronnie Moore's side of course will have different ideas.

Will Gary Neville leaving for Valencia mean more work for you?

"I hope not! Gaz likes to be in control. He will find it difficult not to be still involved in this but Valencia is massive. He will have to go into it full tilt and start delegating a little bit!

"We are still really excited about that first game against Notts County, but we lost on Saturday so maybe that will give the lads the kick they need.

"We knew we had half a chance, even against a team three leagues above us. Tonight if we can reach the same standards we met in the first game I'm sure we can get another good result."

  9. 'You dream of the third round'published at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2015

Salford City v Hartlepool (19:55 GMT)

    Danny Murphy
    Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Two

"It's huge for the clubs and players. I've been in the lower leagues and you dream of being in the third round.

"We've got a fantastic night in prospect and so many of these players will want to get their name up in lights."

Mark, that is an amazing story. What part of Wrexham is possibly 'on the way' to Cambridge from Heathrow?!

What is the most ridiculous, most arduous, most relationship-straining, plain daft matchday journey you have ever undertaken?

Mark Shanahan: One season trying to keep up a 100% away attendance record for Cambridge United. Thought I was scuppered due to a business trip to Geneva on a Tuesday and we were away to Wrexham that night. But managed to finish meeting early, got early flight home, persuaded taxi driver at Heathrow to go back to Cambridge via Wrexham and made it to the Racecourse in time for our 1-1 draw. Cost a bomb in taxi fare and in paying taxi driver's match admission to join me and the rest of the travelling support of 100-odd.

  13. 'Salford were frightening!'published at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2015

Salford City v Hartlepool (19:55 GMT)

Hartlepool manager Ronnie Moore, speaking to BBC Sport: "We know what to expect. We've watched the DVDs of the Notts County game, I've seen them three times and it frightened me watching it, they played ever so well.

"We know it’s going to be a tough game. Tonight is all about being tuned in. Salford will be raising their game by another 25% and so we have got to do that too. And if we do, we should have enough to win the game.

"It’s the FA Cup; it doesn't matter if you’re top of the league by 50 points. Its all about the performance on the night."

The Class of 92 who part-own Salford City - Gary & Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt - won an incredible 112 trophies between them as players.

That includes 16 FA Cups. How many would get into the current Manchester United side?
