Eight defeats in 16 games so far this season.

Chelsea's troubles continue with defeat to Stoke tonight, and it doesn't get any better with Liverpool their opponents this weekend. Will the Blues bounce back?

We're done and dusted here, keep an eye on the site for all the reaction and we'll see you tomorrow for more League Cup action.

Everton beat Norwich 4-3 on penalties

Everton boss Roberto Martinez: "I thought it was a fantastic cup tie. Credit to Norwich, they got the crowd frustrated in spells but we dealt with that really well."

Right then, we are getting close to wrapping things up here, before we go, a few more quotes from managers involved in tonight's games.

More from Jose Mourinho: "A few months ago I won a few matches and I was champion. People were saying there are things more important than results.

"Now, people say results are the most important thing. It's a contradiction."

  6. Players were saying 'you are stupid'published at 23:01

Jose Mourinho is now responding to things that have been written about him and his team, and he is not happy:

"What the players did tonight is face some people that write and speak, and said: "You are stupid".

"What some people write and say is really bad for the players. Maybe they think my players are like them when they were players. My players don't do that, they tried everything.

"If anyone saw the second half the other day, playing with 10 men the way they did, it's a lack of respect for the players."

More from Jose Mourinho: "Losing 1-0 feeling the situation against an experienced opponent... the team did everything. I tried to help too.

'We try, we try, we try. When we scored the goal it was no more than we deserved."

    Sheff Wed 3-0 Arsenal

Right, while we wait to hear from Jose Mourinho, here's a few words from Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal:

"I am very happy about the players and for the club, it is an important victory for the club.

When you play against a club that beats Bayern Munich, they have a squad full of internationals, they are near the top of English football, there is a big gap.

"There is still a big gap. We know they are nine times better than us as a minimum, On the pitch we were better than Arsenal tonight, but we are not better than them."

Nine times better? What a strange number to pick.

The thing I would be worried about as a Chelsea fan is that the players did look to care against Stoke.

If they are trying, and losing, what is the problem at Chelsea?

League Cup defence over, Premier League defence as good as over, Liverpool up next.

Are there any shoots of encouragement for Chelsea fans?

"The way the players put themselves about and competed, Chelsea have a lot of positives to take.

"This won't be the game that breaks the camel's back but it's another loss. Jose Mourinho clapped the fans when he came off and they reciprocated.

"The fans are clearly behind him, we have to wait and see if the owner is."
