A bit of standing water around the perimeter, though. Will the wet conditions have any bearing on today's first-round tie?

    Barwell v Welling

Barwell manager Jimmy Ginnelly has been able to call on an old friend for advice, ahead of the Leicestershire club's first appearance in the FA Cup first round.

He reguarly shares a beverage with Dave Bennett, who won the Cup with Coventry in 1987.

Ginnelly told BBC Sport: "He sometimes wears his medal under his jumper for a laugh when we have a beer.

"After a few pints, he lets the medal show and says 'here, have a look at this'."

Barwell, currently 15th in the seventh tier, host National League club Welling today.

  8. First-round shocks of 2014-15published at 13:54

    Coventry City 1-2 Worcester City

    Carl HeeleyImage source, Empics

Carl Heeley's Worcester City side caused one of the shocks of the season as they beat League One Coventry thanks to Sean Geddes' brace.

The game turned just before half-time when Coventry reserve keeper Lee Burge was sent off and Geddes converted the resulting penalty, before adding a fine second after the break.

Sky Blues skipper Reda Johnson, who had missed a first-half penalty, pulled one back nine minutes from time, but the Conference North side held on for a memorable win over the 1987 winners.

  9. 'We're obviously the big underdogs'published at 13:51

    Leyton Orient v Staines Town

Isthmian League side Staines Town's boss Nicky Forster is no stranger to the FA Cup, having scored for six different clubs in the competition.

He takes his side to League Two Leyton Orient today, and told BBC Sport: "It's a big day out for the club. This is one for the players and the fans to enjoy really. We're obviously the big underdogs.

"But when I was playing for league clubs and we were drawn against non-league sides, I remember it was never as easy and not as comfortable as you'd have liked. So, hopefully we can cause an upset."

The part-timers' famous co-owners celebrated their side's second goal as enthusiastically as any of their big moments with Manchester United and were clearly delighted to knock out a League Two side.

Salford City co-owner Gary Neville: "That was unbelievable. It puts faith back into you, it's what football is about.

"The FA Cup takes a battering but tonight epitomises what it is all about. I've not had a moment like that for a few years."

We currently have the full complement of 28 ties going ahead today after Wealdstone's pitch passed a 13:00 GMT pitch inspection.

We'll let you know if any of our FA Cup matches go the same way.

It's all about the luck of the draw. Financially, Stalybridge, Staines, AFC Fylde and Worcester will all be happy with their trips to Football League opposition right now, though some of them might feel a little differently at full-time. Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale, Bury entertain 2013 FA Cup winners Wigan, currently sitting one place below their Manchester rivals in the league pyramid.

These are the five biggest league differences between teams playing today:

Doncaster Rovers v Stalybridge (65 places)

Leyton Orient v Staines (81 places)

Millwall v AFC Fylde (66 places)

Sheffield United v Worcester City (84 places)

    Wealdstone v Colchester (71 places)

Back on the BBC, and back with a bang.

The first live televised FA Cup game to be shown by the BBC for more than six years ended with Warrington Town giving us one of the stories of last season's competition.

Craig Robinson, brother of MK Dons manager Karl, headed the only goal as the eighth-tier side knocked out League Two club Exeter, ranked 100 places above them in the league pyramid.

Watch the highlights of that upset here.

Unfortunately there'll be no repeat this season. Shaun Reid's men were knocked out by Abbey Hey in the first preliminary round.
