Here's BBC Radio Scotland's commentator, Liam McLeod, spreading excitement through his mic, with reporter Chick Young looking worried at the early play.
Scotland win a corner kick but Steven Naismith is a bit too robust with his challenge on Poland goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski when the ball comes in to the box and the visitors have a free-kick.
James Pratt: "Brown gets in due to pressure to pick players still playing in Scotland. No way is he better than McArthur/Maloney #bbcscotfootball "
BBC Scotland reporter Chris McLaughlin
"The Poles have conceded just seven goals in eight games so far in Group D and might fancy their chances of defending this lead. They continue to press though as the Scotland players struggle to get a foothold in this game."
Replays of the goal show Robert Lewandowski clipped the ball under David Marshall's boot from eight yards. The Scotland goalie was left exposed by the gap between Russell Martin and Alan Hutton. The home team need to get a grip on the game - they are under the cosh.
Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has his arms folded in the stand, not showing a lot of emotion.
Former Scotland striker Billy Dodds
"Russell Martin moved into the left and left too much space for Lewandowski to run into."
My colleague Sharyn Fleming has sent this picture back from Hampden where the Polish fans have let off some flares.
Robert Lewandowski - of course! - is on target for the Poles as the Scotland defence try to play offside and the Bayern Munich hit man races towards the Scotland goal and slots the ball past David Marshall with the sort of confidence that comes from being the continent's hottest striker. What a disastrous start for Scotland!
Scotland are in navy blue jerseys and shorts and dark red socks, the Poles in a classy white strip with an Ajax-style red band down the middle of the jersey.
Scotland kick off. We're under way.
BBC Scotland reporter Chris McLaughlin at Hampden
"The Hampden roar greets both sets of players. The travelling Polish fans set off a number of flares. Strap yourselves in - here we go."
The Tartan Army are more than making up for the muted efforts of the Scotland players to sing Flower of Scotland. Presumably, they are saving their energy.
The Poland players, backed by a few thousand fans, belt out their national anthem. Uh-oh, the visiting fans have let off some flares.
The teams make their way on to the famous Hampden pitch. Not long now!
Former Scotland striker Billy Dodds
"I think we're going to draw, but that would keep us in it because I think Germany are going to beat Ireland. I've got a feeling we won't win the game."
Alan Rankin on Facebook: "I'm pleased to see Darren Fletcher back in the side. He'll bring a bit of much needed calm and experience in front of the back four."
Ten minutes until kick-off.
Poland have perhaps Europe's best striker in their line-up this evening. Robert Lewandowski has scored 12 goals in his last four games for Bayern Munich and, with 10 goals for Poland, is the top scorer in Euro 2016 qualifying.
David Fawkes on Facebook: "Strachan should announce a 12/13 man squad from now on as he seems hell bent on using the same players. Time will come when he complains of a lack of players with international experience - one person to blame for that!"
Philip Vass on Facebook: "Wrong keeper and wrong striker disappointing as we have good players but never seem to pick the ones in best form."
