  1. We are back in the pressure pot - Allardycepublished at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2015

    Sunderland 0-1 Watford

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce: "It was just the beginning of the game that was the poor bit but, because of that, we lost a game we shouldn't have done. Some of the chances we created and missed in the second half were a big problem for us.

"I look at the chances in the last 15 or 20 minutes and I am a little bit dumbfounded why we haven't at least got one point on the board.

"If we had won it would have made such a huge difference but now we are back in the pressure pot which is really disappointing with the games we have coming up."

The Black Cats stay 19th in the table and face Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool in their next three games.

  6. Manager reactionpublished at 17:44

    Manchester City 2-1 Swansea City

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini wasn't satisfied by his team's performance but believes the result was all that matters after Yaya Toure's shot deflected off Kelechi Iheanacho for a stoppage-time winner.

"I think the three points were very important, more than the way we played," he said.

"I knew it would be difficult because we had three or four players who couldn't recover from the last game.

"Swansea played very well and it's not the way we want to win. Now we have a week to recover - we have played too many games with 13 or 14 players."

Not that this will matter one way or another to Manchester City and their fans, but their winning goal - originally awarded to Yaya Toure - has now been given to Kelechi Iheanacho, or more accurately Kelechi Iheanacho's back.

  12. 'Man Utd's stealthy title challenge'published at 17:29

Bournemouth v Man Utd (17:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on Football Focus

"Yes Manchester United are boring to watch but they have stopped conceding goals and are up there in the table. They could win the league by stealth, I think they have a relaly good chance.

"I don't think Louis van Gaal will stay until the end of his contract though - which runs out at the end of next season.

"Once the press really starts to have a go, he'll be off to Portugal - that's where he's always said he's going to go once he finishes this job."

  13. 'Van Gaal has left Man Utd short'published at 17:28

Bournemouth v Man Utd (17:30 GMT)

    John Hartson
Former Arsenal striker on BBC Radio 5 live

"Man Utd have always bought the best players and that’s what the supporters want. They want big, big players. The likes of Anthony Martial need top players to supply them - you can’t expect too much from him.

"He’s young, he’s only got one goal in 10 games and he should be brought out of the team, but they've got no-one else. They've left themselves very short and that has to boil down to the manager."

"From England’s perspective, I don’t think any of the Home Nations is a good draw. It’s always going to be difficult. I think it’s a lose-lose situation. You come up against the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, that’s going to be a tough, tough game."

  15. Manager reaction - Koemanpublished at 17:22

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

Managers often talk about not getting too excited after a victory and not too despondent after a defeat. And Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is evidence of that today. The Dutchman manages a rueful grin as he dissects his side's fourth defeat in five games.

"Of course I'm disappointed about the final result, but I'm not disappointed about the performance of the team," says Koeman.

"The start was difficult and the wind was difficult to play our football. Maybe Palace had an advantage because they, in my opinion, play more direct than us. The second half we were the better team and had the better chances.

"If Shane Long had scored at the end that was 1-1 and that would have been deserved result today. If we weren't creating chances then I'd be very worried."

  16. 'LVG just wants to win'published at 17:20

Bournemouth v Man Utd (17:30 GMT)

    Jason Roberts
Former West Brom striker on BBC Radio 5 live

"Where Manchester United were before with free-flowing football, Louis van Gaal's job isn’t to replicate that – it’s to win.

"If they get back to winning ways I don’t think he’ll lose any sleep over fans shouting ‘attack, attack, attack’ or what ex-players have to say.

"They’re still in the pack - Chelsea look out of the title race, Manchester City are dropping points – Leicester seem to be the only club running with it. He’ll be thinking there’s no reason we can’t win this.

"The Champions League thing is a disaster but it’s the manner in which they’re playing football. If they were in the same position but playing free-flowing football there wouldn’t be all this talk. The manager knows how to win and build a club."

  17. Will Red Devils' week get worse?published at 17:15

Bournemouth v Man Utd (17:30 GMT)

    Simon Brotherton
    MOTD commentator at Vitality Stadium

"A bad week for Manchester United has the potential to get a little bit worse as they limp to the south coast on the back of their Champions League exit.

"The team sheet will be interesting as United are without nine first-team players through injury or suspension.

"Bournemouth were spirited in coming back to draw their last home match 3-3 against Everton, before stunning Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week.

"Manager Eddie Howe described it as the biggest win in their history and they're now aiming to claim back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time."

  18. Manager reaction - Hughespublished at 17:13

    West Ham 0-0 Stoke

Mark Hughes gives little emotion away - unless he's really angry. But we reckon the Stoke manager is reasonably happy with a point at West Ham.

"We had chances to win it - on reflection it was a game we could of won but we had to defend as well," says the Welshman, who will be scooting off to catch the Euro 2016 draw no doubt.
