  • FT: West Ham and Stoke in stalemate

  1. Postpublished at 16:46

    Sunderland 0-1 Watford

Sunderland are never going to score. Adam Johnson is waiting at the back post to latch on to a cross across the face of goal but his shot flies past the far stick.

  2. Final fivepublished at 16:44

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

The hearts of everyone inside Selhurst Park skip a beat as Saints keeper Paulo Gazzaniga lets a brisk backpass roll under his foot and towards his goal. Everyone's heart except Paulo Gazzaniga's. He's as a cool as a cucumber as he scampers back to know the ball out to his right-back Cedric Soares.

Five minutes for the Saints to salvage this.

  3. Postpublished at 16:44

    Man City 1-0 Swansea

Swansea have the ball in the net but it won't count. Gylfi Sigurdsson chips it through to Bafetimbi Gomis but Joe Hart comes out to intercept and takes a high boot from the Swansea striker before Sigurdsson fires in. The whistle had already gone and it was the right decision.

  4. CLOSE!published at 16:42

    Sunderland 0-1 Watford

Oh, Jermain Defoe again, but it is more agony for the striker and Sunderland. A cross is volleyed across from the right by Patrick van Aanholt and Defoe is alert as the Watford defence freezes, but his flicked effort bounces just past the far post.

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

    John Hartson
Former Wales striker on Final Score

"I have not seen a better save all season than the one from Wayne Hennessey in the first half at Selhurst Park. Just wait until you see it on Match of the Day.

"And it actually turned out to be even more important because Crystal Palace went up the other end and scored to take the lead just a few minutes later."

Hennessey's first-half stop was excellent - but the best you've seen all season, John?! Sure there's no Welsh bias there.... Judge for yourself later on.

  6. Postpublished at 16:39

    Sunderland 0-1 Watford

Jermain Defoe.... no! The striker wriggles away from Watford defenders and turns and shoots inside the box but his bobbling effort is palmed past the post by Heurelho Gomes. So close.

  7. Postpublished at 16:37

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

Ooooooh! Should be game, set and match for Palace. Saints needlessly give the ball away, allowing Yannick Bolasie to cut in from the left flank. His cutback finds Wilfried Zaha, who skies over from 10 yards. Head over the ball son!

  8. Postpublished at 16:37

    Man City 1-0 Swansea

As it stands, with Leicester to play on Monday, Man City are going top of the Premier League on goal difference.

  9. Postpublished at 16:35

    Man City 1-0 Swansea

Fabian Delph shot to seal the Man City win... wide. It was a good run from the midfielder but his curling effort bounced past the far upright.

    Follow the game here.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:35

    West Ham 0-0 Stoke

Jack Butland continues to impress this season. The Stoke keeper springs to his left to tip over Ryan Cresswell's shot. Well, we say shot...reckon it was intended to be a cross. But he shanked it.

  11. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 16:34

    Sunderland 0-1 Watford

Jermain Defoe does not take long to make a difference, running on to Adam Johnson's precise pass before slotting home... but the flag is already up for offside.

Soon after, Duncan Watmore slices a shot just a yard or two past the post from range. Sunderland getting closer.

    Man City 1-0 Swansea

    John Hartson
Former Wales striker on Final Score

"This has been a battling performance form Swansea, but with Manchester City's substitutions it looks like they are just turning the screw a little bit now."

  14. Postpublished at 16:31

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

Southampton are one goal away from a century scored against Palace. But, so far, they haven't done enough to look like reach that landmark. Just two away shots have hit their intended target.

Ronald Koeman looks worried. Like the sort of man who has just realised that he has forgotten about his mum's birthday.

Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic not made an impact. Yet....

  15. Football League updatepublished at 16:30

Burton, with new manager Nigel Clough doing media work in Dubai (honestly) are 1-0 up at Gillingham and stretching their lead at the top of League One to five points.

At the other end, Colchester have come from 3-0 down at home to Barnsley and now only trail 3-2.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:29

    Sunderland 0-1 Watford

Here comes Jermain Defoe. He gets a hug from his manager before trotting on. The message is clear - save us Jermain.

  17. Postpublished at 16:28

    Man City 1-0 Swansea

Kevin de Bruyne's first real contribution for Man City is to swing over a corner, which Ashley Williams gets his head to to nick it away from Wilfried Bony.

  18. Postpublished at 16:28 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2015

    West Ham 0-0 Stoke

    Jason Roberts
Former West Brom striker on Final Score

"Stoke are improving, playing some good stuff but they don't have a cutting edge. They don't have a striker on the pitch to make it happen."
