Man City might have started this match fairly slowly but as the average position graphic shows, they have come right into this match. City might be away from home but they have more players spending more time in advanced positions.

I can't believe Garmash smiled and shook the hand of Sergei Rebrov when he trudged off. I'd be livid at being hooked!

"It looks like a tactical change from Dynamo Kiev. Denys Garmash doesn't look too disappointed at coming off."

Dynamo win a corner, but before that happens they are going to make that change. Portugal midfielder Miguel Veloso comes on for Denys Garmash as Sergei Rebrov has an early reshuffle. Veloso's first act is to head the corner goalwards, but his team-mate can't turn the ball past Joe Hart.

Huge chance for Atletico to break the deadlock as leading scorer Antoine Griezmann springs the offside trap and is clean through. You'd put your mortgage on him scoring but Jeroen Zoet shows nerves of steel to keep his composure and block. Big, big chance gone.

Dynamo boss Sergei Rebrov, hands deep inside the pockets of his thermal jacket, looks furious on the touchline. So furious in fact, that it looks like he is already preparing a change. One of his substitutes - Miguel Veloso I think - is stripping off. Now that would be cruel if he isn't coming on...

Raheem Sterling looks to use that criticism constructively, driving forward when he gets possession inside the Dynamo half. The City winger thumps one towards goal, but it smacks the legs of a Kiev defender. A real stinger...

"Manuel Pellegrini has just give it to Raheem Sterling and I think one of his ears is bleeding."

Dynamo take a leaf out of City's book, pressing high to force their opponents into an error. Raheem Sterling is the culprit, gifting possession to Lukasz Teodorczyk about 25 yards out. The Dynamo striker has one thing on his mind - shooting. That he does, but he does it badly as he slashes well wide.

Sterling looks sheepish...

Midway through the first half in Eindhoven and goalscoring chances are at a premium. Two shots on target - both from Atletico. PSV's powerfully built striker Jurgen Locadia is causing the Spanish defence problems but it's been pretty easy going for the visitors.

This City performance has many similarities to that performance at Sevilla that we spoke about a touch earlier. High tempo, high pressing, early goal. All going to plan.

Peter Collins: Aguero just showed the one big difference between Arsenal and City. City have somebody who is quite simply, utterly lethal.

Almost two! Dynamo invite the pressure, playing the ball slowly out from the back, allowing Fernando to win it back high up the pitch. He releases Sergio Aguero in the right channel, the goalscorer smashing a vicious effort across the face of goal. That one whistled past the left-hand post.

City are purring like a cat which has just been given an extra portion of double cream. The visitors are hogging possession now, knocking the ball around confidently and quickly. The home supporters have piped down too. Perfect start.

Does Diego Simeone ever wear anything other than black? The Atletico Madrid boss, who is dressed top to toe in his favourite colour, springs out of his seat and pumps his fist in the air after Jurgen Locadia goes down inside the area following the slightest contact from Gabi. Simeone is not impressed with PSV's theatrics.
