Dynamo Kiev 0-0 Man City
Here's one to warm up the home crowd. Fernando carelessly loses possession inside his own half, allowing Lukasz Teodorczyk to have a crack. But Joe Hart watches the ball fly harmlessly into his side-netting.
Dynamo Kiev 0-0 Man City
Earlier, we spoke about City's tactics - particularly how their midfield three of Fernando, Fernandinho and Yaya Toure would line up. Well, it turns out that Fernandinho, rather surprisingly, has drifted out to the right flank.
The Brazilian sprints forward as he tries to close down a dodgy Dynamo backpass, but home keeper Olexandr Shovkovskiy manages to scramble clear.
An early goal in the one Championship game and it has gone the way of the home team, with Jacob Butterfield striking home from outside the box. The Rams are up to fifth as it stands.

Once the action finally resumes, Dynamo go on the offensive. Andriy Yarmolenko is again pulling the strings, clipping a neat ball towards Lukasz Teodorczyk. The problem is that Teodorczyk has drifted about two yards offside.

Come on man! Vitali Buyalskiy proves Lawro absolutely right, dramatically diving to the ground after minimal contact from Fernandinho. A WWE wrestler would be happy with that level of theatrics....

"Manchester City have to be very careful. When they have been challenged, the Dynamo Kiev players have been throwing themselves to the ground."
Dynamo Kiev 0-0 Man City
Andriy Yarmolenko is Dynamo Kiev's danger man - and here's why. When that set-piece breaks down, the Ukraine forward bursts into the right channel of the City penalty area, blasting a cross-shot at goal which Joe Hart palms upwards. The ball then bounces off the top of the woodwork and out for a corner. Uncertain.
PSV Eindhoven 0-0 Atletico Madrid
Almost the perfect start for Atletico Madrid in Eindhoven. A long ball forward sends Luciano Vietto clear inside the area but his dink over the keeper is scrambled off the line by Jeffrey Bruma

Early indications are that the majority of City players are wearing gloves. Vincent Kompany, naturally, is not one of them. Told you he was nails.
More importantly, City find their stride quickly, string together a few passes. But then concede a free-kick in a dangerous position...

"Manchester City's team is an accomplished starting 11 who concede goals. We have seen on occasions this season them winning a lot of games in a row without conceding. But they have not been the same recently. You mustn't discount them because they got some top players."
Dynamo Kiev 0-0 Man City
City, decked out in their luminous green away strip (which I heard described as ghost green at the weekend...), have the honour of kicking off. Also under way in the Netherlands where PSV host Atletico Madrid.
Game(s) on.

I've never seen a tunnel entrance as big as the one in Kiev's Olympic Stadium. It's the size of a school sports hall. The players resist the temptation to have a quick game of 5-a-side before heading out into the crisp Ukrainian night.
Champions League anthem? Check. Referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz winking at the camera? Erm, check. Handshakes? Check.
Almost ready to roll...

City will be backed by about 700 hardy souls, who have managed to travel to the Ukrainian capital in spite of Uefa's late decision to allow fans to watch the match.
And former City skipper Steve Lomas believes the home crowd may play their part tonight.
“It’ll be a tough game. The ban’s been lifted so it’ll be a partisan crowd but I think they will certainly be looking to get an away goal," he told BBC Radio 5 live.
"City would take a draw going back to the Etihad but there will never be a greater opportunity for them to progress. I think they’ve just got enough to do it."

"Manchester City have got top players. There is not much the manager can say, a lot of it is self motivation when it comes to the players preparing themselves for this.
"People were saying 'what on earth is this?' when the Champions League music first came out. Now it's a case of 'wow...Champions League here we go'."

The Dynamo fans are waving their scarfs above their heads as they jump up and down in the Olympic Stadium. I'd be wrapping that scarf tightly around my neck if I was there. The weather is freezing, but the atmosphere is sizzling. Five minutes until kick-off. Just enough time to grab a cuppa and settle down for the game.
