  1. Talking tacticspublished at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2016

Dynamo Kiev v Man City (19:45 GMT)

So we know that Yaya Toure, Fernandinho and Fernando all start for Manchester City - as they did when the Blues booked their place in the last 16.

Arguably City's finest Champions League moment came at Sevilla, where they won 3-1 against the Europa League holders to reach the knockout phase.

City swarmed all over Sevilla in the opening stages thanks to a Pellegrini tactical masterclass, leaving Fernando as the sitting midfielder with Yaya Toure and Fernandinho both further forward. The Spanish side could not cope.

The average positions of City's players (on the right) in the first 20 minutes showed how they were quick to spring forward on the attack against Sevilla, with Pellegrini playing Fernandinho (25) in a more advanced midfield role.

Will Pellegrini use that as the template for his tactics tonight? Or play more cautiously?

  2. 'An important moment"published at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2016

Dynamo Kiev v Man City (19:45 GMT)

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini speaking to BT Sport: "We have a very good starting 11 and now we need a performance from the team as we play against a difficult team.

"It is always important to score an away goal. Our target, of course, is to try to score from the beginning.

"It is a very important moment."

Peter Collins: City have to win this tie across two legs or questions should be asked. Too many years of not quite making it needs to stop.

Shane Daly: I don't see City winning tonight, their defense is out of date, great attacking, but easy to beat.

Tiredness is often used as a lame excuse for a defeat. But Dynamo Kiev will have to think of another one if they go down tonight. Like rustiness.

The Ukrainians have not played a competitive match since December because of their country's winter break but Rebrov is confident his players are in good shape.

"I hope all our players will be ready to take the field tomorrow. Now they are all healthy, all eager for the fight," he says.

  9. 'City's recent defeats do not matter'published at 19:25

Dynamo Kiev v Man City (19:45 GMT)

LLL. Manchester City's recent run will hardly have Europe's elite quivering with fear.

And Sergei Rebrov is far from nervous. The Dynamo Kiev manager admits City's three straight defeats will not have a bearing on tonight's game - but says he knows where the English side can be hurt.

"When we talk about Manchester City, or any other team in the Champions League, these results in these competitions do not matter. It is the Champions League - it is a different tournament.

"But opponents have weaknesses. We have paid attention to them and and I hope we will take advantage of them."

Their strike force back then? Only current gaffer Sergei Rebrov and a fresh-faced Andrey Shevchenko. Potent. But the pair couldn't fire the Ukrainian side past German giants Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.

  11. Rebrov to haunt City again?published at 19:20

Dynamo Kiev v Man City (19:45 GMT)

Sergei Rebrov is a name that all Premier League fans of a certain age (probably 25 and over) will remember. Not necessarily for the right reasons.

The Dynamo Kiev manager, a former Tottenham and West Ham striker, made a modest impact in the English top-flight, scoring just 11 league goals in three seasons and struggling to dislodge the likes of Chris Armstrong and Marlon Harewood.

However, there was one rare bright spot. Scoring a late winner for Spurs at City in 2001.

Joe Hart is out warming up. Warming up being the key phrase. It is freezing in Kiev. The City keeper looks happy enough though, grinning away while he collects some crosses being pumped into his six-yard box. About half an hour away from kick-off...

  15. Will Pellegrini be justified?published at 19:12

Dynamo Kiev v Man City (19:45 GMT)

Depending on your view - which is probably determined by who you support - Manuel Pellegrini either had no choice to play his kids at Stamford Bridge or 'disrespected' the FA Cup with his decision.

The Chilean justified his choice by saying it boosts his side's chance of powering past Dynamo Kiev. The proof will be in the pudding...

"We had to make a difficult decision against Chelsea but it was the only choice we could make in this moment," he said.

"The important thing is the performance of our important players. It's the first 90 minutes of a 180-minute match, no matter what happens, it's not over after the first leg."

Here's a couple to get you started...

Craig Monka: How's about playing 20 competitive 5 a side games without injury then breaking your leg in an awkward collision in a work game.

Charly: Was brought in to make up numbers. Thought I'd scored a great goal. All moved out the way. Ended up being an own goal. Brother hated me.

Here they are! We have just seen television pictures of City's players rocking up to Kiev's Olympic Stadium. All suited and booted, and not a pair of chunky headphones to be seen.

Skipper Vincent Kompany looks mean and moody. As you would expect from a man who enjoys crushing plastic bottles with his hands....

There's one game in the Championship and it features two teams desperate for points at different ends of the table. Sixth-placed Derby County will climb to fifth if they beat struggling Blackburn Rovers, who have won just one of their last 10 Championship games, and lie 19th.

PSV Eindhoven v Atletico Madrid (19:45 GMT)

Midfielder Marco van Ginkel, who is on loan from Chelsea, starts for PSV Eindhoven, who are without suspended captain and top-scorer Luuk de Jong. Former Newcastle loanee De Jong was booked before scoring one of the goals in a 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow that took the Dutch league leaders into the knockout stage for the first time since 2007.

There's also a Chelsea connection in the Atletico Madrid in the shape of left-back Filipe Luis, a Premier League winner at Stamford Bridge. Forward Antoine Griezmann, who has 12 goals in 25 La Liga appearances this season, leads the attack. And there's also a spot for former Manchester City centre-back Stefan Savic...

PSV Eindhoven XI: Zoet, Moreno, Arias, Bruma, Willems, Propper, Guardado, van Ginkel, Pereiro, Narsingh, Locadia.

Atletico Madrid XI: Oblak, Juanfran, Godín, Savic, Luis, Gabi, Koke, Saul, Oliver, Griezmann, Vietto.

While Manchester City are about to embark on the knockout stages of the Champions League, it's a painful night for neighbours Manchester United.

They missed out on second spot in the group stages to PSV Eindhoven, who are in the last 16 for the first time since 2007.

The Dutch champions, who sit top of their domestic league having won the last eight games, will fancy their chances of advancing against 2014 beaten finalists Atletico Madrid having defeated United, Wolfsburg and CSKA Moscow in front of their own fans in the Netherlands.
