"I've been in squads where there are a few cliques. There's none of that with this Wales group. I still believe today there is no pressure on Wales. There is far more pressure on England to win."

  7. History on Wales' mindspublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 16 June 2016

    Dafydd Pritchard
    BBC Sport Wales in Lens

At their first major tournament since 1958 and hoping to end a 32-year winless streak against England, Wales have history on their minds.

Yet Chris Coleman’s men are not weighed down by their country’s past failures, as they proved by beating Slovakia to become the first home nation to win their opening game at a European Championship.

Coleman has urged his players to approach this game like any other, to keep their cool as the emotions of this much-vaunted derby swirl around them.

But that calm should not obscure their fierce determination. Victory would take Wales through to the second round and, if that comes at the expense of England, their success would be all the sweeter.

When did Wales last beat England at football?

That was the question about today's game which was asked most in England this week on search engine Google. [Other search engines are available.]

The answer, should you not know, is 1984.

Bizarrely the fifth most popular question about Gareth Bale was whether the Real Madrid superstar is going bald

He doesn't appear to have any worries on that front to me...

  13. Wales' selection dilemmaspublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 16 June 2016

    Dafydd Pritchard
    BBC Sport Wales in Lens

As attention turns from pre-match safety concerns to the game itself, Wales manager Chris Coleman has a few selection dilemmas to ponder.

Midfielder Joe Ledley and forward Hal Robson-Kanu came on as substitutes in the opening win over Slovakia having both been out injured, with the latter scoring a late winner.

The two could be in contention to start against England, with David Edwards and Jonny Williams the likeliest to make way.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is another who might be in line for a return to the team after missing the Slovakia victory with a back spasm. The Crystal Palace player trained on Wednesday and, if passed fit, is expected to be recalled at the expense of Danny Ward.

  17. Russia the weak linkpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 16 June 2016

    England v Wales (14:00 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Lens

England manager Roy Hodgson looked shocked when he was informed that Slovakia were leading Russia 2-0 while he was busy conducting a media briefing in Lens yesterday.

"Is that true?" was his response and Slovakia went on to win 2-1.

What was also true was that Slovakia's win put England's 1-1 draw with the Russians into perspective - and not in a good way.

England have used the performance against Russia - this was a good performance but a bad result effectively - as a comfort blanket ahead of today's meeting with Wales..

What is clear now is that they failed to beat a very poor Russian team that now increasingly resembles the very weak link in their group.
