"Of all the World Cups and European Championships I have covered, I have never experienced anything like today.

"It feels like I've been thrust back into the UK.

"There are British supporters mingling on the streets, this ground and the weather have a British feel to it."

"When Wales play England at anything, any sport, it's the biggest game. It's a bigger game for us than England really. England get this all the time.

"We have a collective spirit and you're going to get a good performance from Wales today, whether we can hold England back I don't know."

British golfers, and roommates, Chris Wood and Jamie Donaldson, have given their predictions for England v Wales to BBC Radio 5 Live, ahead of the US Open.

“We're going to watch it in the morning, before play," Wales' Donaldson said. “It's going to be a scrappy game, England won't be able to score, Bale will score and then we'll hold on and win 1-0."

Bristol's Wood replied: “They (Wales) will score. But it will be 2-1 England. You'd like to see England try and score first and win the game. Then I'll be coming up here, with the right result taken care of, full of positive thoughts and I'll take some money off this boy."

The pair will both in action on the first day of play at Oakmont Country Club, Pennsylvania - Donaldson tees off at 18:03 BST before Wood starts at 18:47.

England and Wales have met on 101 occasions, England winning 66 matches and Wales 14.

They were annual opponents in the British Home Championship, which ran for a century until 1984, but England and Wales have met just four times in the three decades since.

For a generation or two of fans, this is easily the biggest meeting of the sides.

Those pesky Uefa officials had no thought for the working patterns of the UK when they scheduled this match. A 14:00 BST kick-off means plenty of leave requests, I'm sure a fair few, er 'illnesses' and maybe even an afternoon of school.

I remember Mr Francis - legend - allowing us all to watch England play Tunisia instead of double science in 1998.

So where are you following today's big game from? What are your plans? Are you wearing your colours? Are you a Welshman among an office of England fans? Or vice versa?

We want pictures. Including of dogs.

Send us your images to #bbceuro2016. Fire away...

    Alan Shearer
Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 live

"Pressure does different things to different individuals. The very best go out and perform. That's why the best players stay at the top. This is something some of ours have never experienced before. They have to put in a performance as England cannot afford to lose this game.

"There is some experience in this team, but they are about to find out what playing for England is all about."

Exciting footage of the England team bus on the dual carriageway reaches us here at BBC towers. More on that as it develops. Presumably it will reach the ground, park up, and the players will get out.

As will Wales. Uefa are currently offering some long, languishing shots of the Wales kits. Wales are playing in a sort of grey and black striped effort.

After their 58-year absence from major international tournaments came to an end last week, this is another chance for Wales to create history in France.

Wales have not beaten England since 1984 but, if they do that today, Chris Coleman's team will reach the second round of Euro 2016.

Kick-off is getting closer and the excitement is building. Wales are ready for this.

It's time for the talking to stop, well, not quite.

Mark Chapman is joined by Alan Shearer and others on BBC Radio 5 live right now for two hours of build up to the big one.

Gareth Bale, Chris Coleman, Chris Waddle, Robbie Savage, you can hear from them all on 5 live.

  14. Who are the favourites?published at 12:06 British Summer Time 16 June 2016

    England v Wales (14:00 BST)

England start the game as odds-on favourites with the bookmakers, with prices of five or six to one generally available on a Wales win.

But don't forget that Wales top the group after their opening win. A draw would suit them down the the ground. And they can sit back and hit Gareth Bale on the counter-attack...

From Pudsey to Pontypridd. Yeovil to Ystradgynlais. Market Harborough to Merthyr Tydfil. Lostock Hall to Llanfairfechan.

All eyes and ears around England and Wales will be fixated on the atmospheric Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens this afternoon.

I was there just last weekend for the Switzerland v Albania game. I know, massive.

It's not the biggest ground but it's very, well, English. All four stands slightly different sizes. No corners filled in. Slightly dug into the ground. Think Molineux. Turf Moor.

This afternoon it will be rocking. Truly rocking...

Wales have come a long way...

Just six years ago Wales were languishing down in 112th in the Fifa rankings. England were sixth.

Wales had finished in fourth place in their World Cup qualifying group. England dropped just three points as they topped theirs.

Wales were miles away from qualifying for a major tournament. England were habitual quarter-finalists.

    But times have changed.

Six years on the sides meet in Lens today as close to equals as they have been in generations. Wales have the world's most expensive player, they top Group B and a win today would see them into the knockout stage. They believe.

It is the first meeting of two home nations in a major tournament for 20 years. It is arguably the standout fixture of the group stage.

It is a massive occasion. It is live on the BBC. It is happening now. It is England v Wales.
