They've been battered but Northern Ireland are still standing.

I don't want to speak too soon but could they still sneak into the last 16 as one of the four best third-placed finishers?

Paul Eaton: This #GER, external team have looked good, created a lot of chances but haven't been clinical enough - sounds familiar?!

Benhard Naweseb: And how many said Lahm is a big lost, I've been impressed by Hector and Kimmich today.

Daniel Woodley: The support from the #NIR, external fans is incredible. They have been superb all tournament! Deserve to go through just for them.

Niall McGinn is on for Corry Evans. He was super sub against Ukraine. Can he repeat the trick in the last five minutes at the Parc des Princes?

    Ukraine 0-1 Poland

Andriy Yarmolenko's attempt a left-footed dipper but it's straight into the hands of Poland goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

The Swansea goalkeeper has had a very assured performance in between the sticks today.

If Northern Ireland do make it through to the last 16 then they will have Michael McGovern to thank.

Another super save by the keeper to frustrate Mario Gomez after he gets on the end of Joshua Kimmich's pin-point cross.

Lukasz Fabianski has to fully stretch low to his left to keep out Ruslan Rotan's strike from outside the area.

Ukraine coming close to netting in the final few minutes.

  10. CLOSE!published at 81 mins

    Ukraine 0-1 Poland

Ooh, almost a leveller for Ukraine.

Yevhen Konoplyanka shows some neat footwork in the corner to dig out a cross into the box and it's in the direction of Roman Zozulya, who rises but nods inches wide of goal.

It sort of skimmed off his head - maybe if the 26-year-old had more hair it could have gained more friction and the header might have been on target.

Twenty-three shots for the world champions. Northern Ireland have had two.

But still there is only one goal dividing the teams as we enter the last 10 minutes.

Can Northern Ireland find a goal from somewhere?

Andyrew: Come on #NIR, external a goal is achievable! Still all to play for.

Si: Magennis made a goal against Ukraine. Good to see him on.

Brent Bentley: Can't help but feel an @WillGrigg, external equaliser here would be the biggest cheer of the whole tournament!!!

Andre Schurrle lets fly from the edge of the area but Jonny Evans makes a crucial block.

Here comes another German change - defender Benedikt Howedes for the dominant Jerome Boateng.

  14. CLOSE!published at 74 mins

    Ukraine 0-1 Poland

    Nearly a second for Poland.

Kamil Grosicki's nicely weighted ball into the box finds Arkadiusz Milik on the rise, but the Ajax man fails to get enough purchase on the header and the ball sails wide of goal.

Critical 20 minutes for Northern Ireland.

If they can keep Germany out they could well be joining the likes of Wales and England in the last 16.

Easier said than done. The world champions don't look as though they want to settle for a 1-0 win.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Ukraine 0-1 Poland

The excellent Olexandr Zincheko is given a rest as he comes off, while Viktor Kovalenko comes on.

Can he make the difference for Ukraine?

    Ukraine 0-1 Poland

Do Ukraine have a rugby team? If they do, this effort would have earned them three points.

Yevhen Konoplyanka's speculative effort causes some pinball inside the Poland area as the defenders fail to clear the ball.

It eventually falls to Olexandr Zinchenko, but his strike is way, way over the bar and into the stand.

At least we are getting out and putting a little bit more pressure on those balls. Germany aren't getting as many free balls into the box like they did in the first half.

Michael O'Neill obviously wants to try and get something out of this game. It's been too easy for the German backline, so they've got to try and change it up with Josh Magennis.

Josh Mageniss is coming on, it could be a complete change of tactics for Michael O'Neill.

Did you know? Magennis played twice as a goalkeeper for Northern Ireland under-17s.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Germany

We've reached that stage. Another change.

Rory McIlroy, who is watching from one of the stands, rises to his feet as Stuart Dallas makes way for Josh Magennis.
