Bayern Munich have injuries, but look unlikely to make any signings

"Bayern Munich have serious problems at centre-back but it doesn't look like they'll be trying to solve them with a late signing.

"Jerome Boateng is out for three months with a muscle problem and yesterday Javi Martinez announced he has a knee injury.

"They join Medhi Benatia (thigh problem) inside the busy physio room at the club's Sabener Strasse HQ.

"But both CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Sporting Director Matthias Sammer are ruling out new signings.

"Rummenigge says "Good players are not being sold in the winter." (Don't tell that to Newcastle Karl-Heinz).

"Remember, Germany's transfer window shuts at 5pm tomorrow. So extra time for Bundesliga clubs."

Chris Forryan, Leicester Till I Die:

After summer target Demarai Gray finally arrived in January. Claudio Ranieri stated there would be no more transfer window signings.

This was blown out of the window within two weeks as Ghanan International Daniel Amartey arrived. A defensive midfielder, he could be viewed as a likely replacement for Gokhan Inler should he leave the club due to limited game time in a European Championship year.

Ranieri has expressed his desire to bring in another striker to cover for Ulloa & Okazaki whose form has been consistently inconsistent.

Ahmed Musa – CSKA to Leicester City?

"Musa is a very rapid left inside forward with excellent attributes for pace, acceleration, and movement off the ball. His technical skills might let him down, though, as his dribbling, passing, and finishing stats are all below 15.

"He does, however, register average ratings well above 7 in my save and scores an average of 12 goals per season. Leicester could have found a very good potential buy here."

We have asked Football Manager expert Alex Stewart - a man who is no stranger to snaffling bargains and spotting potential, all from the comfort of his own laptop on the popular computer game - to offer an alternative perspective on the transfer market.

Some good news for Leeds United fans waking up on transfer deadline. No, you haven't signed another striker or beefed up your centre-half options. Nor has madcap Italian owner Massimo Cellino been bought out by someone less mental and more wadded.

But your talented teenage midfielder Lewis Cook says he is staying at Elland Road, despite Bournemouth's best efforts to whisk him away to the Premier League for a reported £8m fee.

"I’ll be here after the deadline," the England Under-20 international tells the Yorkshire Evening Post., external

“Some people make the choice to move to the Premier League at a young age and it doesn’t always work out for them. I love playing for Leeds.”

Could Mame Biram Diouf be on his way to Marseille?

"In France, league leaders Paris-Saint Germain won't be getting their chequebook out today and when they're over 20 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 who can blame them?

"The likes of Edinson Cavani, Adrien Rabiot & Salvatore Sirigu are said to be unsettled but they're staying put at least until the summer.

"So for deadline day activity, Marseille may well be the club to watch. The arrival of unpopular Florian Thauvin - on loan - was met with little or no enthusiasm by the fans & the club's President Vincent Labrune is under pressure to sign a striker.

"So far in this window they've missed out on Bertrand Traore from Chelsea and Seydou Doumbia from Roma. Maxi Lopez from Torino is being linked and Marseille are also said to be interested in Stoke's Mame Biram Diouf."

Keith Charlton, Sunderland fan and SAFC Supporters Association committee member:

I still think we need a good goalkeeper. Harper is not the answer, we need some new defenders as O'Shea is well past his best and is slowing down. We also need a tall forward because at the minute the ball is being put to Defoe in the air, which he has no chance with.

And as to whether he'll be staying in the Premier League the Frenchman replies: "Yes."

Wenger also confirms Serge Gnabry is set to go out on loan to a Championship side. "I know it is between two clubs but I don't want to confirm anything too early.  I want to give him some competition like we did last year with Francis Coquelin and if possible call him back."

Saints have already added Charlie Austin to their ranks in this January transfer window, meaning that they've recruited the most important addition to the current set-up - a natural goalscorer - ahead of deadline day.

If there were to be one more fresh face at St. Mary's, a playmaker would be most welcome.
