While Middlesbrough were busy confirming the arrival of Jordan Rhodes, Blackburn Rovers' Twitter account was more concerned with the late drama going on in their FA Youth Cup tie against Aston Villa...
Everton
Everton have signed Lokomotiv Moscow forward Oumar Niasse for a fee of £13.5m.
Manager Roberto Martinez wanted greater attacking options after selling Steven Naismith to Norwich and Aiden McGeady going out on loan.
Everton's top target was Dynamo Kiev forward Andriy Yarmolenko but they were frustrated in that pursuit.
Senegal striker Niasse has 12 goals in 21 games for his club this season.

Arsenal
He lost his place to Hector Bellerin, and now Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy has joined French side Bordeaux on loan.
Talk about consistency.
In 2015 and 2014, Premier League clubs spent £130m in January. What will the total be this time?
That is some £95m short of the January record, as shown below.
U.S Avellino 1912

The 29-year-old full-back only joined Bolton last August, but has made just three appearances in the Championship.
Watford
The Watford-Granada-Udinese triangle coughs up another baffling move as striker Adalberto Peñaranda joins the Hornets.
Except he's going back on loan to Granada, where he is now on loan - from Udinese.
Follow that?
If we're not careful Fitz Hall is going to end up playing for Udinese...
