Is the mega zillion money deal for next season having a negative effect on teams in the lower half of the league. Teams seem set up not to lose rather than go all out for a win.

    Problems, problems...

We can't kill off teams this season. Like most EFC fans I've got no fingernails either. Newcastle 98th min equaliser?

Not sure this makes a lot of sense Newcastle.

Splash £12m on left winger Andros Townsend and then spend most of the match attacking down the other side...

    What a miss.

Newcastle finally create their first chance of the night and substitute Aleksandar Mitrovic has his head in his hands.

The striker is unmarked just yards from goal but somehow volleys Moussa Sissoko's cross wide. A horrible finish.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 52 mins

    Everton 1-0 Newcastle

Aaron Lennon has scored one - but he could easily have a hat-trick.

The winger comes in off the right wing, beats a couple of men but, 18 yards out, his low shot is turned away by the feet of Rob Elliot.

The loose ball falls to Arouna Kone, on for Romelu Lukau at the break, who blazes over the bar.

Seconds later, Kone breaks down the right but shoots across goal and wide.

You are all having a go at Newcastle for not making any defensive signings on Twitter:

Adam Dorricott: Maybe Newcastle should have looked for a defender? Townsend isn't going to stop a team conceding. Rarely gets back to help.

Andrew Neill: Lucky Newcastle made those long needed defensive signings last month. Oh, wait....
