The status of being unbeaten sounds good but realistically we would have wished to have more victories, especially at home. And we have an opportunity to do so against Newcastle. They improved their squad with substance, some good signings, and they are more competitive now. When you don't keep winning at home, people have less fear.

    Guus Hiddink, Chelsea manager

Who's predicting what? Well everyone reckons 2-0 to Chelsea basically.

Our resident predictor Mark Lawrenson, Game of Thrones actor Ed Skrein and the University of Salford's super-computer, SAM, are all in agreement.

Former Aston Villa captain Andy Townsend: "The signings Newcastle have made may give them a chance of staying up. I'd be surprised if they go down."

Diego Costa starts up front for Chelsea, and will wear a mask after breaking his nose on Thursday.

Kurt Zouma's injury means Gary Cahill returns to the side at centre-half, where he partners John Terry. Eden Hazard and Pedro come in for Oscar and John Mikel Obi.

  6. 'Unlikely Chelsea will secure top-six finish'published at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2016

    Chelsea v Newcastle (17:30 GMT)

    Steve Wilson
BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Guus Hiddink remains unbeaten in his second spell as Chelsea's interim manager. His side - largely on the back of a series of draws - are slowly inching up the Premier League table, but it's still stretching the imagination to think that they'll manage a top-six finish for the 20th consecutive season.

"Out of the FA Cup and with their next league opponents, Manchester City, involved in the League Cup final, Steve McClaren's Newcastle side will not play again for 18 days after this game.

"That's a long time to savour victory or dwell on defeat. If they can end a run of five consecutive away losses in all competitions, McClaren and his players can enjoy their unscheduled mini-break."

Chelsea have only won two of their eight Premier League games under Guus Hiddink.

You can push whatever agenda you want with stats really.

They are six points above the relegation zone and six above today's opponents.

Are they in a relegation battle? Win today and they'll be feeling pretty safe. But lose and you never know...

"We are a team with a lot of masks. A Zorro team."

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink came out with some soundbite gold as he revealed Diego Costa will wear a mask today after breaking his nose in a training-ground collision with youngster Fikayo Tomori.

Cesar Azpilicueta is also wearing a mask today, as have Gary Cahill and Nemanja Matic this season.

A nice deflection there from Hiddink in the build-up to a pretty big game.
