  1. 'He has to change it'published at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

    Steve Stone
Former Newcastle coach and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

"I think Keith Curle has to change it. He has to get the wing backs out of the team, go four at the back and get more pressure on the ball higher up the pitch. Everton have to just keep doing what they are doing and the chances will come."

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

Encouraged by that end to the half, the Carlisle fans applaud their players off the pitch. Still, all to do if they are to somehow rescue this tie.

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

A good finish to the half as a loose ball squirms through the defence to Derek Asamoah inside the area, but he can't get his foot around the ball properly and Joel Robles scoops it up.

    One minute of added time.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 43 mins

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

James McCarthy is the first player in the book as he halts a charging run forward by Carlisle debutant Brandon Comley.

That's the definition of taking one for the team as the Everton defence was scrambling to organise as Comley burst forward and the free-kick is dealt with comfortably.

  5. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

Carlisle appear to be more concerned about stopping Everton from scoring again as Derek Asamoah stands as a lone striker. Five in defence and five in midfield for the hosts but they break quickly as Macaulay Gillesphey delivers a good ball into the box, it is headed down into the dangerzone but Asamoah can't get to it before Everton sweep up.

  6. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

Arouna Kone bends his run to beat the offside trap but the Carlisle defence recovers quickly to force the Everton striker wide and the chance passes.

Romelu Lukaku looks on from the bench. The big striker looks massively uncomfortable hunched over in the dugout. He'll probably have to find a way to get comfortable, because it is unlikely Roberto Martinez will need to call upon him today.

  7. Watch the second goalpublished at 14:08 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

As easy as can be. Everton are cruising into round five. Aaron Lennon's second was routine and you can watch it, just click play.

  8. It's all going wrongpublished at 14:08 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

It seems the official Carlisle United Twitter account is having "connection problems".  It's a case of playing catch up and it's not a story they really want to catch up on.

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

The atmosphere has dissipated, as bemused home fans watch another Everton attack. This time Aaron Lennon attempts a low pass into the area for Arouna Kone, but Michael Raynes steps in to poke the ball clear, before Tom Cleverley overhits a cross.

  11. Home side 2 v 2 at the backpublished at 14:03 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2016

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

    Steve Stone
Former Newcastle coach and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

"As soon as Everton get it they slide it down the side and there is so much space in behind Carlisle."

  12. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

Going back to my entry on the fifth minute about Derek Asamoah, I've had a look and he is 34. He has a great engine for that age having pounced on defensive errors on three occasions to race away.

Asamoah has just popped up on the far side of the pitch by the halfway line trying to catch Seamus Coleman, but he is penalised for a little tug on the Everton's fullback's shirt.

...better this time from the corner as this time Mark Ellis heads just wide at the far post.

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

There's definitely a chink in Everton's armour that is there for Carlisle to exploit.

As good as the visitors have been attacking wise, they have been poor in defence. Derek Asamoah steals possession from a dithering Bryan Oviedo and charges forward. His shot deflects behind for a corner. It comes to nothing, but they have another one now...

  16. Squeezing life from the League Two sidepublished at 24 mins

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

This is something of a drubbing so far.

The Premier League side enjoying over 70% of the ball and on top in terms of territory too.

A voice comes over the PA system and gives someone a ticking off for swearing. There's some frustrated home fans in the stands no doubt. They'd come expecting a day of celebration but it hasn't gone to plan so far.

Carlisle boss Keith Curle, patrolling the edge of his technical area in a sharp suit, looks bemused with what he is seeing.

    Carlisle 0-2 Everton

    Steve Stone
Former Newcastle coach and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

"Everton are just popping little passes around. Arouna Kone is getting the ball and turning. It's too simple and Keith Curle needs to change something."
