Arsenal, seemingly confident from the lead, are knocking the ball about with some elan but then Aaron Ramsey trips Dele Alli to gift Spurs the ball. Shortly afterwards, Christian Eriksen adds to his frustrating afternoon by firing well, well over.

Hard to see that one coming in the first 25 minutes but Arsenal grew into the game and ended that first half with a real surge of momentum, not to mention the lead.

Spurs looked shell-shocked by Aaron Ramsey's goal and Arsenal had a visible injection of confidence.

Mauricio Pochettino almost sprinted down the tunnel at half-time to wait for his players to deliver the words he hopes will get them back on track for the second half.

"Danny Welbeck is a super player. He's been criticised for a lack of goals in the past but he's been brilliant today.

"He looks fit, strong and he's led the line well for Arsenal.

Well that was a very intriguing half of football. Spurs had the lion's share of the first period, but Aaron Ramsey's backheel flick was superbly taken and Danny Welbeck has shown his worth with some strong running in behind the Tottenham defence. 

The goal came from Arsenal's only shot on target, which is a positive thing, I would say. Why waste them?
