Stoke City manager Michael O'Neill says his players have to be realistic about the relegation battle they're in.
Last night's home defeat to Preston North End leaves them four points clear of the bottom three, with 14 games remaining and O'Neill said: "We shouldn't think of every defeat as a disaster, the same way as when we win a game we shouldn't think we're going to win the play-offs."
The form of the three sides at the bottom; Barnsley, Luton and Wigan, is worse than Stoke's in recent weeks, but O'Neill has also reminded his players they can't rely on other teams doing them a favour.
He added: "I've said all along, we can't really control what the other teams do. So we can't rely on that, we have to focus on ourselves."
Tom Barkhuizen grabs his fourth goal in as many games as Preston edge closer to the top two with victory at Stoke.

The defender has been out the side since December and O'Neill said: "He's a massively positive influence on the group of players, he's been captain of the club for a long time, he's been captain of the club under numerous managers as well."
O'Neill said Shawcross travels to away games and is in the dressing room to encourage the team.
But he added: "All of those of things are important, but the main thing is we want to see Ryan back on the pitch."
