Stoke City's vice-chairman John Coates has said this season has been just as tough for his family as it has for the supporters.
The club have pulled clear of the relegation places since appointing Michael O'Neill as manager, but had been aiming to compete for promotion this season.
John, who is the son of chairman Peter Coates, said: "we are Stoke supporters, we absolutely feel it when things are not going right."
He also said they "feel it more" because they feel responsible for the team's performance.

Stoke City's Sam Clucas says the team will start to relax and play better if they can pull further away from the Championship relegation zone.
Since the start of February they've won three, drawn two and lost two and climbed to 17th in the table, but remain just three points out of the bottom three.
Clucas said: "I think when you start to pull away, you start to relax a bit more and I think we'd probably do a bit better."

Stoke City are facing a potentially pivotal weekend in the Championship and BBC Sport's been looking at whether another 'big-hitter' could be relegated this year.
The Potters are a point above the relegation places with 10 games left and tomorrow host fellow strugglers Hull City who are two points above them.
These two, along with other bottom seven sides Middlesbrough and Huddersfield, have played Premier League football at some point in the past four seasons.
With "big hitters" Sunderland and Ipswich Town dropping down to League One in the past two seasons, BBC Sport's been looking if another could follow them.

Fans of World Cup winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks will be soon be able to go on a walk in his memory.
Banks, who played for Stoke City and Leicester City, died last year aged 81 and his funeral was held a year ago at Stoke Minster.
The idea for the memorial walk's come from some of his former team-mates who say it should be completed later this year.
The group include former Stoke winger Terry Conroy who says the route would be around the lake at Trentham Gardens with several stops along the way.
"One particular thing we have in mind is Gordon's handprints, a cast in bronze. So people can put their hands into a tree and they're putting their hands into Gordon's hands," he said.
