Mike Greenwood: That goal makes no difference to Augsburg. Needed to score tonight and if they do with no reply, they're through. Come on!!!!

Bee Elle Double-You: More goals Liverpool please.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Liverpool 1-0 Augsburg (agg 1-0)

Job (half) done. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp jogs off down the Anfield tunnel as soon as referee Clement Turpin toots his whistle for the break.

Maybe he needs the loo. Maybe he wants to clap each of his players on the back as they enter the dressing room.

The Reds lead thanks to James Milner's early penalty and are 45 minutes from the last 16 of the Europa League.

    Liverpool 1-0 Augsburg (agg 1-0)

Taking an opponent out from behind after the ball has gone - not allowed. Augsburg striker Caiuby gets a finger wag from the referee for cleaning out Philippe Coutinho. And that's not all.

Mark Savile: Three really poor @BoringMilner, external corners, but at least he can take penalties!

John Dunthorne: Liverpool not taking their chances, could and should be 3-0 up. We all know what happens next...

Kaushik Gorai: Anyone notice Liverpool play brilliantly whenever they train more under Klopp. I wonder what happens after a perfect pre-season?

Jordan Henderson clambers back to his feet after a good soak of the magic sponge. The Liverpool midfielder is back on the pitch, tearing around as per. He's fine.

Uh oh. Skipper Jordan Henderson goes down with a knock, not what Liverpool want to see ahead of Sunday's League Cup final...

Augsburg keeper Marwin Hitz knows how to command a penalty area. The bloke at the other end could do with taking note. Another confident claim is responsible for breaking down the home attack.

  8. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Liverpool 1-0 Augsburg (agg 1-0)

Almost the second goal that Liverpool deserve. Daniel Sturridge is picked out by Philippe Coutinho's cutback, drilling against the outside of the left post from seven yards. Referee Clement Turpin gives a corner to the home side, so clearly away keeper Marwin Hitz managed to get a vital touch...

Actually, I've just checked, Anfield is apparently 110 x 75 yards (see 18:34 entry). Still not sure you should be losing your skipper's armband.

Viola Beach, the four-piece Warrington group who died on 13 February while on tour in Sweden, feature on the playlist at Old Trafford tonight. The visit of Midtjylland is United's first home game since 2 February.

Karen Massey: Missing the Liverpool game as I'm stuck on a train next to some fella breathing like Darth Vader. Keep us posted I'm at my wits end here.

Lucas Leiva's heart has just skipped a beat. A sloppy backpass from the Brazilian is under-cooked, straight into the path of Augsburg striker Caiuby. He takes the ball around Simon Mignolet, but is defeated by the angle. He shoots into the side-netting, but Mamadou Sakho is back covering anyway.

"Attention please. If anyone finds a captain's armband can you please hand it in to lost property. Thank you."

Augsburg skipper Paul Verhaegh has lost his. Ref Clement Turpin halts the game for a moment so he can get another one. How you lose that on a (approximately) 90 x 60-yard piece of grass I don't know.

Roberto Firmino is buzzing around like a bumble bee, floating around the Augsburg half and causing problems with his movement. But he is yet to sting the visitors, a low shot easily gathered by Augsburg keeper Marwin Hitz.

End-to-end stuff at the moment. Liverpool make headway down the left flank, Alberto Moreno sweeping in a cross towards Roberto Firmino. He glances a header goalwards, but away keeper Marwin Hitz is alert to tip over his bar.

    Liverpool 1-0 Augsburg (agg 1-0)

Augsburg plough forward as Simon Mignolet is forced into decisive action for the first time. The Reds keeper watches Kostas Stafylidis's 20-yard shot fizz towards him, palming it out to safety.

Another minute, another Liverpool chance. More neat build-up involving Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino results in Nathaniel Clyne driving across the face of goal with the aid of a deflection.
