    Tottenham 1-0 Fiorentina (agg 2-1)

Borja Valero gets his head to the whipped set-piece, but gives it a little too much forehead and too little eyebrows.

His clumsy attempt at a glanced effort thuds wide.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:44 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Tottenham 1-0 Fiorentina (agg 2-1)

Marcos Alonso cleverly buys a foul from Kieran Trippier  - flicking the ball inside the full-back and flopping over his outstretched leg.

And Trippier has his name taken by the referee as well.

Decent spot for a set-piece as well, down by the Tottenham corner flag.

Man Utd 1-1 FC Midtjylland (agg 2-3)

Memphis Depay is finally showing why Manchester United paid big bucks for him. The Dutch winger swivels inside the Midtjylland box with feet quicker than Michael Jackson in his Thriller video. But no-one in a red shirt can turn his cross over the goal-line.

Man Utd 1-1 FC Midtjylland (2-3 agg)

    Kevin Kilbane
    Ex-Everton winger at Old Trafford

"The coach from Midtjylland was screaming at his team to try and come up. The defensive line was sitting deep inviting United to get on top of them - and they have."

    Nikolay Bodurov OG (37 mins)

And there's one! Manchester United claw themselves level (on the night at least) as Midtjylland defender Nikolay Bodurov shanks Memphis Depay's left-wing cross into his own net.

The poor lad looks heartbroken as cheers from the home crowd fill his ears.

"Well. That has put the cat well and truly amongst the pigeons.

"One goal would have been enough to send United through before that hammer blow. Now they need two to force extra time.

"The initial response from the stands is one of support. No response from the dug-out though. Everyone has remained in their place."

United now need three goals tonight if they are to win inside 90 minutes. Unless Midtjylland grab another....

Man Utd 0-1 Midtjylland (1-3 agg)

    Kevin Kilbane
    Ex-Everton winger at Old Trafford

"Michael Carrick went to ground far too easily and made it easy for Sisto. All of a sudden there's a spark to Midtjylland's play."

  11. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Tottenham 1-0 Fiorentina (agg 2-1)

Nacer Chadli is wrestled to the floor in the Fiorentina penalty area and...

...sees the free-kick given against him.

Sheer disbelief on the Belgian's face as the referee rules the Italians' way.

  12. goal

GOAL - Man Utd 0-1 FC Midtjylland (agg 1-3)published at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Pione Sisto (28 mins)

Wow. FC Midtjylland take the lead, completely against the run of play, with a moment of magic.

Never mind Dynamo, Pione Sisto is the only trickster in town. He dances around tackle after tackle inside the United area, before making the ball disappear into the net by firing low into the bottom corner. Old Trafford - apart from the pocket of away fans - is silent.

Man Utd 0-0 FC Midtjylland (agg 1-2)

FC Midtjylland channel their inner Wimbledon circa 1988. They win a free-kick close to the halfway line, send up Alan Cork and Eric Young....sorry their defenders..and lump it long. But it is totally wasted. Not had a chance yet have the visitors....

  14. goal

GOAL - Ryan Masonpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Tottenham 1-0 Fiorentina (agg 2-1)

    Cool as a cucumber.

Ryan Mason strolls onto the loose ball as Dele Alli beats Davide Astori to the touch in a 50:50 challenge.

The midfielder advances on goal, opens up his body and slides a precise sidefoot finish past Ciprian Tatarusanu and inside the far post.

    Anti-freeze in his veins.

  15. 'Well organised'published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Man Utd 0-0 Midtjylland

    Kevin Kilbane
    Ex-Everton winger at Old Trafford

"Midtjylland are well organised. They can break from this shape because of the pace they have out wide. But the wide men are doing that much work defensively they are having to cover so much ground to make United's final third."

  16. Postpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

Man Utd 0-0 FC Midtjylland (agg 1-2)

Huge slice of luck for United - and Midtjylland are almost cursing it. Defender Filip Novak dithers in his penalty area, eventually trying to clear under pressure from Jesse Lingard. But it pings off the United winger's shins like a pinball and just goes wide.

  17. Postpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Tottenham 0-0 Fiorentina (1-1 agg)

Dele Alli is looking as smooth as his old MySpace photo.

He gets forward again and his slipped throughball has just a little too much weight on it, running through to Ciprian Tatarusanu as Erik Lamela chases gamely.

  18. Postpublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

Man Utd 0-0 FC Midtjylland (agg 1-2)

Marcus Rashford is the central figure in the first few pages of this story. The United debutant darts into space inside the away penalty area, but can't bring down Guillermo Varela's lofted pass.

Then, moments later, Jesse Lingard fires in a cross that is gathered by Midtjylland keeper Mikkel Andersen. All United so far in this opening 20 minutes, but the Danish visitors are hardly hanging on for life.

  19. Postpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Tottenham 0-0 Fiorentina (agg 1-1)

    Tasty!

Christian Eriksen puts his laces through the back of it from 30 yards out and his shot is swerving about like a beach ball in the breeze.

Ciprian Tatarusanu in the Fiorentina goal gets two meaty palms behind the effort.

  20. Postpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

Man Utd 0-0 FC Midjtylland (agg 1-2)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

"There are plenty of empty seats at Old Trafford tonight - and the very top tier of the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand opposite the manager's dug-outs has not been opened at all.

"But enough of this vast stadium is full to suggest predictions of an embarrassingly low attendance were wide of the mark.

"The home fans are making plenty of noise too - presumably acknowledging issues out of Louis van Gaal's control are conspiring against him.

"There is a long way to go of course. Be interesting to see whether the atmosphere in the final 15 minutes is as optimistic as the first 15 if the hosts do not pull this tie around."
