  1. 'Excellent from Rashford'published at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

Man Utd 0-0 Midtjylland (agg 1-2)

    Kevin Kilbane
    Ex-Everton winger at Old Trafford

"Excellent from Marcus Rashford. Sloppy from Midtjylland but Rashford found himself a bit of space and skipped away before testing the keeper."

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Tottenham 0-0 Fiorentina (agg 1-1)

Kevin Wimmer has his name taken after he plants a pair of size nines into Josip Ilicic's shins.

The Spurs defender does not look remotely bothered, doing a little bit of pointing and phelgm-clearing as the card is brandished.

Oh hello! Marcus Rashford is a confident young lad. The 18-year-old United striker comes short to pick up a throw-in on the left, turns, goes direct, shimmies and fizzes a shot that Midtylland keeper Mikkel Andersen clumps clear. Decent.

Here's our first glimpse of what Marcus Rashford has to offer. Pace. Plenty of it. Whether he'll get the space to stretch his legs against a deep Midtjylland defence is another thing.

The United debutant explodes into life down the right channel, only to slightly over-run the ball and the move breaks down.

  6. CLOSE!published at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Tottenham 0-0 Fiorentina (agg 1-1)

If Dele Alli had his extra long studs in that might be the opener.

Tottenham's all-action teenager is a whisker away from turning in Eric Dier's flicked header as he slides in at the far post.

Solid start for Danish champions. Looking pretty compact, happy to let Manchester United knock the ball around in front of them.

The home side are trying to get men into box, but another hopeful ball into the mixer from Guillermo Varela cannot find one of them. The FC Midtjylland defence head clear.

  8. 'Big night for Depay'published at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

Man Utd 0-0 FC Midtjylland (agg 1-2)

    Kevin Kilbane
    Ex-Everton winger at Old Trafford

"This is the sort of game where there will be a lot of chances for Manchester United to be expansive and creative in final third. They are going to rely on Memphis Depay to be creative."

  9. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Tottenham 0-0 Fiorentina (agg 1-1)

Christian Eriksen is bending the ear of referee Ovidiu Hategan. The Dane wants a spot-kick and he is putting forward his case with some vigour.

Think Tom Cruise in A Few Good Men.

But the official rules that Marcos Alonso could not get his arms out of the way of Kieran Trippier's cross from point blank range. No penalty.

Bit of a testimonial atmosphere inside a sparse Old Trafford. Memphis Depay looks the best bet to get them on their feet, but the Dutch international cannot find a red shirt from the left byeline and Midtjylland boot clear.

Shohidur Rahman: This is just a complete joke now. We're actually struggling to field a starting 11. It's unbelievable.

James Jackson: Another player injured in the warm up, LVG either trains them too hard or not hard enough

Steve Winchester: Rashford starting, manager's job on the line.... Anyone else see a Mark Robins moment looming?

What's happening at White Hart Lane, I hear you cry. Not much actually. Dele Alli is trying to link up with Nacer Chadli, who is operating as a 'false nine' in Harry Kane's absence.

Fiorentina win an early corner but they can't beat the white shirt stationed at the near post.

First real threat from Manchester United. Memphis Depay jinks inside from the left, his shot bouncing back off the shins of an away defender.

  14. Who is Marcus Rashford?published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    Man Utd 0-0 FC Midjtylland

Hmm, going wrong for United before the match has even started.

With Anthony Martial injured in the warm-up, Marcus Rashford makes his debut. The 18-year-old is a Mancunian who has made his way through the youth system.

Man City at one point showed an interest and Nicky Butt, now involved with the youth system at United, said of him: "Marcus is explosive, he’s a very talented boy but a good, hard worker as well."

  15. 'Massive setback'published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

Man Utd 0-0 FC Midtjylland (agg 1-2)

    Kevin Kilbane
    Ex-Everton winger at Old Trafford

"The loss of Anthony Martial is a massive setback for Manchester United. We were saying before that the difference tonight could be Martial. United are going to be even weaker. They are struggling with injuries. We don't know a lot about Marcus Rashford."

  16. 'The Law of Murphy'published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

Man Utd 0-0 FC Midjtylland (agg 1-2)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

"Rumble of unease rolled around Old Trafford when the line-ups were read out and Anthony Martial's name was missing.

"Seven days ago, Manchester United lost David de Gea in the warm-up.

"The Law of Murphy Louis van Gaal called it. He's back."

FC Midtjylland boss Jess Thorup looks pretty relaxed as he sits in the away dugout. So would I having just seen that United team-sheet. The home side have most of the early possession, but are largely knocking the ball around in their own half.

Ivan Zderic: Mixed feelings about strong 11 for United due to Arsenal game on Sunday.

Shohaib: Everyone thinks Michael Carrick is playing at CB, I don't think so. I think LvG has gone with a three at the back with Carrick in CDM.
