Arsenal should be ahead with their first chance of the game, but if they had scored I get the feeling Manchester United fans would not have been happy.

A Danny Welbeck pass is kept in down the left by Nacho Monreal, the home fans think it has gone out, but the referee says nothing and Monreal finds Welbeck again. The striker moves forward before clipping a pass to Alexis Sanchez, who sends Monreal clear, but his shot is well blocked by David de Gea.

Memphis Depay has looked good lately and he is bright and bubbly straight from the off in this game. He speeds off down the left to try and work a chance, but Arsenal defend well.

Daley Blind and Michael Carrick form an unlikely double act in the centre of defence for Manchester United. It is going to be interesting to see how they get on against the pace of Theo Walcott.

Jake Cartledge: If Arsenal can't beat this Man Utd side today, they don't deserve to win the league. Simple as.

Hameed Shuja: MUFC fielding a pretty much under-21 side but they should still be good enough for Arsenal. Come on.

Daniel Cheng: Come on lads 'ave it, Utd aren't doing very well so let's seize the opportunity to give them a hiding!

Louis van Gaal takes his seat in the dugout, pulls a snazzy purple pen out of his pocket and scribbles something in his sizeable notepad.

If Marcus Rashford is feeling the nervous he is keeping it well hidden. He looks calm and composed as Arsenal get this game under way.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal: "We have won two matches in a row - very important matches in the FA Cup and Europa League so I think confidence is up but we still have 12 injuries, so it is not easy.

"There is no training session because we have to recover after the Europa League game so you cannot train any more. It is also not a fair competition because Arsenal played Tuesday.

"When I see the players at lunch and in meetings the players are bright and there is a good spirit. I don't think there is more pressure for Arsenal it is an important game for them and for us. We want to continue with our hopes of finishing fourth and Arsenal want to be the champion."

Agree with Luke? These were the teams when Manchester United beat Arsenal 8-2 in 2011.

Man Utd: De Gea, Evra, Jones, Evans, Smalling, Anderson, Nani, Young, Cleverley, Rooney, Welbeck

Arsenal: Szczesny, Koscielny, Djourou, Jenkinson, Traore, Walcott, Ramsey, Arshavin, Coquelin, Van Persie.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, speaking to Sky Sports: "We want to start the game with the right intensity and take our chances as soon as we can so we can play our game.

"[Because of the Man Utd injuries] I believe that this is an opportunity we have to take because we want to come back strongly in the league."

Mark Taylor: The 8-2 was a great team vs an average team. Today is an average team vs an average team with injuries, that's the difference.

Thor Jensen: If Welbeck, Walcott, Alexis and Ozil can't score against that defence it's time to throw in the towel and switch clubs to Luton.

It feels like every time I am on a Manchester United game I am writing one of these 'who is...' entries.

There is another new name on the bench for Louis van Gaal's side - Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

According to the club's website he is a 'powerful and versatile defender with plenty of speed and athleticism to accompany natural ability on the ball.'

The 18-year-old, who has captained the Netherlands at under-17 level, was previously part of Ajax's youth system and has recently been involved in Manchester United under-21 side.

"I watched this lad and in only 10 minutes he had scored 12 goals."

Marcus Rashford's goalscoring exploits in the Europa League on Thursday meant he grabbed the headlines and made an instant name for himself.

The 18-year-old's talent has been known for sometime by those who had seen him play at youth levels.

Want to know more about him? Check out this interview with Mark Gaynord, who coached Rashford when he was a five-year-old playing for Fletcher Moss Rangers in Manchester.

Sibs: A Carrick/Blind CB partnership is slower than the erosion of the UK coastline. Arsenal will annihilate them with pace.

Doesn't matter who you support, I think it is fantastic to see a young lad making his debut for his local team.

Eighteen-year-old Marcus Rashford leads the line for United, with David De Gea and Marcos Rojo returning for the hosts. Manchester United's 11 injuries means they name a very young bench.

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Varela, Carrick (c), Blind, Rojo, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Lingard, Mata, Memphis, Rashford.

Subs: Romero, McNair, Riley, Fosu-Mensah, Weir, Januzaj, Pereira.

Three games for Arsenal as Gabriel, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck coming in for Per Merstacker, Olivier Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Arsenal XI: Cech; Bellerin, Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal; Ramsey, Coquelin; Walcott, Ozil, Sanchez; Welbeck.

Subs: Ospina, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Elneny, Campbell, Iwobi, Grioud.

Top-scorer Harry Kane is fit to start for Spurs after missing the 3-0 Europa League win over Fiorentina with a broken nose. Full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose return to the starting XI, as does Son Heung-min, who replaces Ryan Mason.

Subs: Vorm, Davies, Trippier, Bentaleb, Chadli, Mason, Onomah.

Just one change for Swansea from the defeat to Southampton two weeks ago as Ki Sung-yueng comes in for Wayne Routledge.
