    Tottenham 3-0 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, speaking to BBC Sport: "I have said to the boys that until the first goal we played a very good away match with possibilities to score. The last big possibilities was for Anthony Martial and then there is that mis-communication in the centre of defence and that is a big pity. Within five minutes the game is over with the second and third goals and that cannot happen. I know that, but OK that has happened and we have to cope with that.

"You have to see how they scored. It was a set play, the second goal. Our organisation is normally good and our best headers were on the strongest players and still they have lost that duel. OK that can happen but it cannot happen in sport because that means they can score.

"Still we have a couple of matches to go and your opponents can lose lose matches, we have seen that. But I know that it is more difficult than before."

  4. 'Tottenham is a great team'published at 18:51 British Summer Time 10 April 2016

    Tottenham 3-0 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal: "Until the first goal we were at least the equal team. The better chance was for us with Anthony Martial, a big chance. We give the first goal away, a miscommunication and then in five minutes we were out of the game. The seond goal is a set play and our best header loses the duel. It was a fantastic header from Alderweireld. It cannot happen. But it happened.

"Why did Ashley Young go up front? I want more running in behind because in the first half we didn't have an attacking point. That was the reason. Every team can lose to everybody so we are still in the race. Of course when you lose a game you have to close the gap again and that is more difficult.

"Tottenham is a great team, I said that in advance of this match. But at 0-0 we were playing well and had a big chance. 3-0 is a big negative result but until we conceded it was good."

  5. 'We fully deserved it'published at 18:49 British Summer Time 10 April 2016

    Tottenham 3-0 Man Utd

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to BBC Sport: "Very pleased. I think that the performance was perfect and our players deserve full credit. We fully deserved the result, I'm happy. We are still fighting for the title, seven points, we need to believe. It is true that after Leicester played the gap was at 10 points, it's difficult but it is important to show we are focusing on our job. I think we have shown maturity, personality, character. Since the beginning of the season the team has been improving so we feel very pleased.

"Dele Alli is 20 tomorrow. It was important for him, the first goal, and for the team, every opportunity he has he shows his real quality. He is very mature. He is like how he plays, outside, a very natural and spontaneous person, we are very happy with the way he behaves."

Did the late start affect Spurs? "It was difficult because you change a little bit your habits but for both teams it was not easy. To stay on the coach stuck in traffic. I think our performance was good."

"In the first half both teams were fighting a lot and it was not clear who had the power to manage the game but in the second half we dominated better and started to find space to create chances.

"We believe and still fight, the motivation is big and massive. We need to try to get points and try to arrive at the end of the season with the possibility to win the title."

C Li: Can Jose come and quickly rescue whats left of Man Utd season?

Jonathan Kelsall: Who'd have thought it? A winger up top, a winger behind him, a striker on the left wing, a no.10 on the right wing = 1 shot.

James Foster: If Van Gaal blames the traffic I'm going to absolutely lose it.

We need to get Poch tied down with a new contract, as well as our backbone of Kane, Lloris, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Alderweireld, the physio...basically new contracts all round!

    Rich, London

I've stood by Van Gaal all season despite the rest of our fans wanting him out. Today has made me realise that his style does not suit this club. He's a great manager and I watched all through his career with the Dutch national team but we need rid, especially if we stand a chance of bringing Jose in. Louis out Jose in.

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin: "After the first goal we lost a bit of shape, maybe it was a mental thing. In the first half we had possession and caused a few problems but after the goal it happened so quickly, three goals so quick cannot happen. Everyone has their head down like you can imagine. No-one would have thought that after 60 minutes it would have been 3-0. But fair play to them they got us when we were a bit down. Like I say it is us to blame."

"Spurs are a vastly improving team. They're growing. They've got a good academy, a manager who isn't afraid to put young players into the first team, and if they were chasing a Manchester City or Chelsea at the top of the table they would be getting more plaudits than they are currently."

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli: "We knew how good the opposition were and it was important that we keep on winning games. They were not going to make it easy for us but we knew the chances would come if we kept patient. My target was for 10 goals and I think that is eight now."

Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier: "The manager always wants a performance from us and playing the right way and we did that. They made it hard for us but in the second half we were able to sort it out. We will keep on fighting until the end. That's what everyone expects but credit to Leicester."
