  1. goal

GOAL - Tottenham 1-0 Man Utdpublished at 70 mins

    Dele Alli

Scrappy play but Spurs lead! Harry Kane is able to play the ball forwards while on his backside and Christian Eriksen suddenly has space for the first time. He's wide on the left, looks up and swings over a fine cross which Dele Alli runs on to and fires past David de Gea.

He's so cool in front of goal...

Mat Barron: Chris Smalling has been solid again today. Doesn't get the credit he deserves and kept Harry Kane quiet in both games.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Man Utd

Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah picked up a knock in a challenge five minutes ago and he hasn't been able to run it off. So on comes Matteo Darmian in his place.

    Tottenham 0-0 Man Utd

Spurs crank it up a notch and craft two openings through their dynamic full-backs. On the left, Danny Rose hits an early, low cross which bounces dangerously at the front post and David de Gea does well to kick it out.

Moments later Kyle Walker piles on down the right and fires over a great ball which De Gea just about paddles away.

Jonny Young: Schneid on corners, Young up front, Blind still at CB. Did LvG use a random number generator to come up with his tactics today?

Jay: What are the odds of seeing David de Gea play as the central striker before the end of the season?

Louis Engelbertsen: Don't understand what LvG is trying to do. We would hold posession & protect back four better if Mata and Lingard switched.

"Now that's better from Manchester United. Anthony Martial has had the ball on countless occasions but this is the first time something really positive has come of it. Kyle Walker defended poorly, letting him skip past."

  7. CLOSE!published at 62 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Man Utd

Shot on target! Shot on target for Manchester United and it comes from some really positive play from Anthony Martial. He gets the ball wide on the left, jags inside past Kyle Walker and then beats another before hitting a rising, hard shot which Hugo Lloris has to beat away. A comfortable save but a cracking effort too.

"This game's been pretty congested. The only space has been out in the wide areas. Manchester United have had the ball out there plenty but nothing's really come of it."

Approaching the final third of this game, it's not been a classic. That is an understatement too.

Tony Butler: Whilst touring NZ went to great lengths to see a proper sheep shearing contest. Drove across half of North Island to the venue only to find we were a day early!! Fortunately we were able to chat to the organisers, hosted to a few beers and able to return the following day where we had "ring side" seats. Only Brits in the house!

Harry Kane backs into Daley Blind, rolls him and shoots low and hard from 25 yards. It's straight at David de Gea but it's another effort on target.

Lest we forget. Louis van Gaal played Dirk Kuyt at left-back for a spell during the last World Cup. Positions? Don't believe in them...

Whoever is playing up front for Manchester United, they haven't looked anywhere near scoring a goal so far this afternoon.

Shohidur Rahman: United's entire front four out of position. Trademark Van Gaal.

Conor Matchett: It's official. I will never understand LVG's tactics. Young up front while Martial is out wide!? What!?

Mossankomane: Mata a winger, Martial a winger, Lingard a number 10, Ashley Young a striker.... Welcome to Man United.

What's more unusual, a Louis van Gaal front four or a Tony Pulis back four?Nobody in their regular position...

Spurs having a good spell now as Eric Dier has a deflected shot held by David de Gea. That might go down as a shot on target!

"Ashley Young going up front will play into Tottenam's hands you would have thought. Young isn't used to having the ball at his feet with his back to goal and so should be easier to deal with."

Never second guess Louis van Gaal. Anthony Martial stays on the left wing with Ashley Young playing as the center-forward. OF COURSE!

    The falsest of false nines.
