"Loftus-Cheek did well. He showed his talent and placed his huge frame between the ball and the defender but then showed his inexperience by trying to blast the leather off the ball with the shot."

For those wanting to know more about City's opener, there were 18 seconds between Chelsea taking a corner and Aguero scoring at the other end.

Anyway, there's something else to tell you. Quick feet and quick thinking from Pedro, creating space for himself and finding Ruben Loftus-Cheek with a cross but the academy product gets underneath the ball. The Blues lively in this half.

  3. YELLOW CARD - Nasripublished at 47 mins

    Chelsea 0-1 Man City

A yellow card to Samir Nasri for a poor, needless challenge on Gary Cahill and Chelsea are gifted a free-kick inside City's half, though it comes to nothing. As you were.

The players have trotted back onto the pitch and both teams are starting the second half with the same personnel which began the first. The second half will be under way shortly. Stand by.

    Chelsea 0-1 Man City

For possession and territory there hasn't been much between these two teams - but what has been the difference is City's clinical counter-attacking.

"It has been an excellent half. It would be churlish to criticise any player on either side because the quality was as good as anywhere.

"City had more clear-cut chances because they had players making runs and someone who could make the pass.

"The goal came, it was a beautiful break and wasn’t easy. Aguero maneuvered himself some space, a slight deflection but I don’t think it would have made any difference. I do think City deserve to be ahead."

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 16 April 2016

    Chelsea 0-1 Man City

Chelsea have defended City's rapid counter-attacks with great difficulty but long gone are the days of clean sheet after clean sheets. Indeed, the Blues haven't kept a clean sheet in their last 10 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge.

Craig Tilley: Chelsea are well and truly a mid table team right now, the spine has gone and they are falling apart.

Jamie Jennrich: Hiddink's team selection has once again ensured there is a big hole in midfield, Mikel brings nothing to the team

Daniel Scott: At the start of the season I thought this was going to be the title decider, how times change

Diego Costa evades Eliaquim Mangala, and, according to Mike Dean, is brought down illegally by Nicolás Otamendi.

Otamendi received a yellow for his rash, sliding tackle, and Willian steps up for the free-kick 25m from goal, but it loops high and wide. Groans of disappointment ring around Stamford Bridge.

And that happens to be the last kick of the half.

What a player Kevin De Bruyne is. There's no doubt he has been missed during his injury absence. The magical Belgian puts Sergio Aguero through once again, but this time Gary Cahill nicks the ball off him with a last-ditch tackle. The Englishman's effort is acknowledged by applause from the home support.

Just under five minutes until half-time and City deserve their lead, though Chelsea have had their chances. Chelsea pedestrian with the ball in comparison with City's high-octane attacks. The hosts trying to muster an opening in the dying minutes of this half.

If, I hear you say, the goal was shown in the form of a graphic, what would it look like? Funny you should ask...

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne (17) won the ball from John Obi Mikel (12) and just took off before passing to Sergio Aguero (10) who did the rest from 20 yards.

City have only picked up eight points from a possible 51 at Stamford Bridge so it's perhaps too soon for the visiting fans to celebrate. But the Champions League semi-finalists are now oozing confidence, retaining possession and turning Chelsea on their heels.

Manchester City have sparkled sporadically in the league this season, but in Sergio Aguero they have a prime poacher. He's now scored 11 goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances. Will fellow Golden Boot hopefuls Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy be worried?
